20.01.2022 Bamboo shoots are surfacing amongst the larger clumping varietys at present. It's a spectacle not to be missed as they start their long journey skywards. Most of these shoots are an exceptional food when harvested at the right time in their growth & it's a good idea to cull a few so the clump is not too congested, making the process of harvesting poles a little difficult. Order some raw shoots today, for an interest ing addition to your stir fry, salad, soup etc, the product can be kept in the refrigerator for several months & is a healthy food source.

09.01.2022 Recently completed the framework for my two tripod trellis at Noosa Landcare HQ in Pomona. Utilizing poles of Dendrocalamus Brandisii for the tripods with the top from Bambusa Tuldoides. I split oldhamii for the horizontals and finished with uprights from Multiplex Creamstripe. The Passionfruit vine is already moving up stretching out on the eastern side. Will add some climbing beans and cucumbers next.

05.01.2022 Will be time to start harvesting clumping bamboo next month make sure you have plenty of borax & boron( boracic acid ) to protect from borer infestation. Have just removed some Aurea a running bamboo from a three week soak for Melanie's bamboo yurt construction, shown here sizing the poles for transportation and curing.
