20.01.2022 2021 rules of engagement Facebook rules of engagement In joining our community on Facebook, Cooranbong Public School follows the Department of Education Code of Conduct and Facebook’s Community Standards.... Students Facebook Terms and Conditions state no one under the age of 13 years should have a Facebook profile. Therefore, any comments or page fans from primary students on the Cooranbong Public School page will be removed and, if warranted, users will be reported. Tagging or naming student photos Photos of students can only be published if the correct Department of Education permission to publish forms have been completed by the student’s parent or guardian. The photo must be removed after one year of publishing unless further permission from the parent is sought. For privacy and protection, please do not tag photos of children, and please do not name them in your comments, unless the previously mentioned permissions is sought. On rare occasions and with parental permission, students may be named by the school Facebook administration team. Tagging of parents or friends within the comment box is permitted with the understanding that all other rules of engagement are followed. 18.01.2022 LEGO challenge today. Create something around 2020

18.01.2022 The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) has officially opened! The challenge aims to foster a love of reading and encourages students to experience quality literature. All students are encouraged to participate and those who successfully complete the challenge will receive their name on the PRC Superstar display (pictured below), an acknowledgement in the school newsletter and a special award at the end of the year. There will also be a celebration for the first infants and... primary class to complete the challenge! This week, library lessons will teach students how to participate. 18.01.2022 A MASSIVE shoutout to Looking Up Landscapes and the Mega Fruit Barn who have donated Emergency Brain Water to our students in case they don’t bring in their water bottles on these hot days, as our bubblers are still out of action with COVID. We all have busy mornings running around getting organised for a big day of work and school, so this initiative is fantastic! Thank you so much to the McGill family. What an amazing community we have have here at CPS

We’re all looking very forward to working with you in 2021. Thank you to all the Year 5 students who applied for a leadership position. We can’t wait to elect our Sports House leaders early 2021. We will have an assembly early next year to formally hand out badges and parents/carers of these students will be notified of the procedures in advance. Congratulations to our 2021 Leadership Team!

16.01.2022 The dream team! We would like to thank our CPS community for their support in what has been one of the most challenging and revolutionary years of education. Today we farewelled Mrs Eves from K6R. We would like to thank her for her years of dedication to not only her students, but the wider CPS community. We wish you all the best on your next adventure! We also farewell Mrs Robinson. We can’t thank you enough for your passion and support for our Stage 3 team and whole sch...ool . On behalf of the executive team, we would like to thank our staff for their unwavering dedication to our students this year. Enjoy a well deserved break, team! From all of us here at CPS, we wish you a Merry Christmas! See you all in 2021!

16.01.2022 See some of our Year 5 prospective leaders for next year in their Leadership Posters. These are located on the ramp up to the office. These students are recording their speeches this week, which will be presented next week to the school. We will then vote in our new School Leaders for 2021.

13.01.2022 CPS & WESTLAKES SWIMMING REP ALERT Jett today competed at the Hunter Regional Swimming Carnival in Lambton today, representing both CPS and our Westlakes PSSA. Unfortunately he didn't progress to the State level, but smashed his personal best by 2 seconds and his school level swim time by 4 seconds, swimming his 50m freestyle event in 42 seconds. He did CPS, Westlakes and his family proud .

12.01.2022 STAGE 3 TOP BLOKES GRADUATION Over this term, some of our Stage 3 boys have been attending the ‘Top Blokes’ program once a week. They have be learning about Cyber Safety, Anger Management and how to be an upstanding citizen in our ever-changing world. All of our students this term have graduated and are ready to teach their ways of working positively with each other to their peers and teachers. ... Thanks Miss I’Anson for organising the program

09.01.2022 Yesterday we planted a bunch of traditional Indigenous plants to build upon our Bush Tucker Garden. Each class planted their own species with the help of some of our Stage 3 students. A MASSIVE thank you to Mrs Hosken for acquiring our plants and helping to plant them. How we are so very lucky to have her knowledge and passion for our students and the environment at CPS! Also a big thank you to Miss Thomas for a fantastic week of celebrations for our NAIDOC Week at CPS including a scavenger hunt, craft activities and our Bush Tucker Garden planting initiative. What an extremely lucky school we are!

08.01.2022 YEAR 6 SHIRT SIGNING As is tradition, Year 6 students have been invited to bring in a school shirt for their peers and teachers to sign this Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th December. Shirt signings will take place tomorrow after the Awards Ceremony at Morisset High School and also on Wednesday throughout the day.... Year 6 students will need to bring in a suitable pen (silver or white pens for signing a Year 6 dark blue shirt) and wear a separate school shirt to the one they will be getting signed. These already famous ‘autographs’ may be highly sought after one day!

08.01.2022 Today we paused for Remembrance Day to remember the soldiers, their families and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to all of our staff, teachers and especially our amazing students who paid their respects in our school today. Each class laid a wreath of handmade poppies as a token of their gratitude. Special thanks also to our Year 6 leaders who ran our ceremony today. Big thanks to Mr Briggs for the organisation!

08.01.2022 Today staff had a lovely lunch for the beautiful Miss Perry. This is her last week at CPS before she takes maternity leave. Miss Perry has been part of making significant positive changes at CPS over the years. Miss Perry is a kind, friendly, respectful and humble teacher and leader that has made a significant impact on the students and teachers. We are all very excited for her and know she is going to be an amazing mum to her little bundle of joy!

07.01.2022 This is one of Miss Lee’s favourite photos. The photos shows students across different year groups immersing themselves in books during their break time. Now it’s that time of the year again where we complete a stocktake on all of our wonderful library books. To support our stocktake, please return all library books to the library as soon as possible. Thank you for your support with this process.

06.01.2022 CPS CHRISTMAS CONCERT Next Friday 11th December, CPS will be putting on a Christmas themed day and concert. Note: Parents and Carers will unfortunately not be able to attend. However, we will be taking lots of photos and videos to share with our awesome community!

06.01.2022 WORLD KINDNESS DAY 2020 Over the last week, students have been working on showing random acts of kindness. For each random act, they received a slip of paper to draw or write their act of kindness on to make a paper chain. Yesterday in light of World Kindness Day (Friday 13th November), we connected all the class’ chains together and displayed them around the COLA. ... What a great visual showing how kind we all can be to our peers and teachers!

04.01.2022 YEAR 6 MINI FETE It’s not too late to buy tickets for our Mini Fete this Friday 27th November. Any left over tokens will be used to put into the raffle at the end of the day to win all of these fabulous prizes!! Here are just some of the prizes you could win below . Year 5 and 6 students will be collecting money for Mini Fete tokens again tomorrow morning from 8:30am outside the Library.... $5 for 10 tokens $10 for 30 tokens Thanks so much to our wonderful community for your donations so far! Stage 3 are gearing up for an awesome day!!

04.01.2022 Tomorrow we finish our NAIDOC celebrations for this week. We will be holding a mufti day tomorrow (Friday 13th November) for students to dress up in the colours of the Aboriginal Flag and the Torres Strait Islander Flag. There will be no cost for the day. Special thanks to Miss Thomas who has been very busy organising great activities and opportunities for us this week. #alwayswasalwayswillbe

04.01.2022 On Tuesday 1st December CPS will be selling fresh homemade lemonade for $1 at Lunch time. All money collected with be given to Southlakes Incorporated who support local families. They are currently helping 500 local families with food and gift hampers this Christmas. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Mrs Nicholson and Miss Lee have worked extremely hard this year to make CU happen for our school. We are so lucky to have you both at our school.

03.01.2022 Drop off and pick up information for our Year 6 students travelling to Morisset High School today for their Orientation Day visit. Students should arrive by 9:00am. Please ensure when you arrive at Morisset High School to head to the school hall through the Executive Carpark on Newcastle Street. Looking forward to a great day!

01.01.2022 MINI FETE 2020 A HUGE thank you to all of our wonderful staff and students for such a great day celebrating the Mini Fete at school. With all of the help and support from our great community, we raised upwards of $2500 ... We had many great activities such as the:- Ice cold spider drinks Scary Haunted House Water Balloon Throwing Table Tennis Face Painting ... and so many more! A big wrap for Mrs Robinson for all her hard work on our Haunted House , including many hours invested in creating and decorating the classroom. Let’s all enjoy a great night sleep!
