25.01.2022 My faith in humanity has been restored. Yesterday my partner and I were in a pretty major car accident. We were on our way to Adelaide for a weekend to celebrat...e my partners birthday. Something went wrong with the car, we suspect something to do with the steering wasn't properly tightened after some work was done on Monday, and we ended up flipping and nesting in the trees. We both walked away pretty healthy, with only some bruises and cuts. We spent the night in Meningie hospital as I had pain in my rib and the doctors wanted to be sure it wasn't my spleen. The staff at the hospital were amazing, bringing us blankets and pillows and offering to ask around about transport for when we got out the next day. The following morning we were discharged and managed to get a lift with a nurses husband to Tailem bend (both the nurse and husband are now legends in my books) And from there we got a taxi to the bus stop down near Cooke Plains and took a coach to Adelaide. When we got to the hotel, the staff asked how we were feeling, as we had to change our booking due to the overnighter at the hospital. We showed them the photo of the car and they were just as amazed as we were that we were still walking and breathing. After checking in, they sent a bottle of wine and some chocolates with a lovely card to our room. We've also had donations coming in to help replace my partners car. With all the negativity around at the moment, it was nice to experience genuine kindness and compassion in a crisis. There are many people like the ambulance volunteers we may never see again, but I won't forget them.

16.01.2022 If you are unwell and you’ve been tested for COVID-19, it’s important that you stay at home while waiting for your test results. Do not go to public places ... this includes work, school, childcare, university, shopping centres, public parks, social or religious gatherings. Do not go shopping or to restaurants shop online or have family or friends deliver what you need to your door. Do not have visitors at your home. Only people who usually live with you should be in the home. You must avoid all contact with them and they must not sleep or be in the same room as you. People who live with you are not required to self-isolate unless they develop symptoms and need to get a COVID-19 test. If you must leave home to seek urgent medical care, wear a surgical mask. For more information about self-isolation, including how to safely do it while living with others, visit: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidisoadvice

14.01.2022 School closures in South Australia are not currently required because of the low levels of COVID-19 cases in our state, along with the wider public health strat...egies in place. If your child/children is well, you can send them back to school or preschool this term. If they have symptoms of a cold or flu, and have a fever, keep them at home until they are well and also get them tested for COVID-19. If your child has a chronic medical condition, or a compromised immune system, you may wish to consult your GP or paediatrician when deciding if your child should return to school. Schools are a central part of a child’s life and SA Health has been working closely with the Department for Education, Catholic Education, and the Association of Independent Schools to make schools as safe as possible for everyone.

14.01.2022 From midnight tonight, South Australians will pause and create a 6 day circuit breaker that will enable us to get ahead of the Parafield Cluster. This means al...l non-essential workers must stay home and only leave for groceries and medical supplies. Our decision to go hard and go early is based on the advice of our world class health team. I know the restrictions we have put in place will be challenging for many South Australians, but the alternative is the virus escapes into the wider community forcing an even longer lockdown. I urge people to be kind and respectful to one another during this time. Click through the images to see what's open and what's closed. Thank you for working together with us - we WILL get through this.
