17.01.2022 True, edible Aloe Vera is a great source of anti-oxidants. You can tell true Aloe Vera by its rosette shape and leaves that are grey-green and wide and fleshy at the base.

10.01.2022 Thought you might all appreciate some main points from my ginger talk and my recipe for ginger lozenges. Ensure you have correctly identified the ginger plant if you plan to eat it. Zingiber officinalis (Ginger)... Zingiber officinalis Common name: Ginger Family: Zingiberaceae Part used: Rhizome Constituents: Volatile oil (zingiberene), sesquiterpenes, oleo-resins (gingerols, shogaols), starch, proteins, lipids, nutrients, amino acids Some Medical uses: Zingiber increases the flow of saliva and is a stimulating tonic for the digestive system. Reduces cramping, gas and nausea. Indicated for motion sickness. Increases the peripheral circulation and detoxifies the body from toxins associated with rheumatism. Contraindications: People with sensitive stomachs do not always tolerate. Use caution with ulcers, GERD, gallstones, kidney disease, and tendency to hemorrhage. Slippery Elm Chew for sore throats 1 cup of slippery elm powder 5-7 tablespoons of honey 2 teaspoons of cinnamon 2 teaspoons of clove powder 2 teaspoons of ginger powder Combine all ingredients together using a little water to bring it to a crumble. Roll into balls and food drier until they have reached your desired chewy-ness. Store in freezer. Thank you for having me and heres to your good health, Maria Sturre N.D. 09.01.2022 HOW TO PREPARE ALOE VERA Here is Maria demonstrating how to prepare aloe vera for eating - from last Sundays Harvest Swap. Thank you Maria! And a message ...from Maria... Hi Harvest Swappers... Thought you might all appreciate some main points from my aloe talk. Ensure you have correctly identified the aloe plant if you plan to eat it. Latin name is Aloe Vera Barbadensis. Aloe Vera bought from the shops does not have the same healing health benefits as fresh. The processing action dilutes the healing constituents to approximately a 1/4 of its original strength. Aloe contains 20 of the amino acids important for rejuvenation of our body. Aloe contains 7 out of the 8 essential amino acids. Aloe also contains many vitamins, minerals and has many benefits that have been tested on rats but not humans. Some of Aloes herbal actions are anti- inflammatory, anti-diabetes, could be a good for some cancers and immune support. When taking an aloe leaf off a plant, allow the plant to leak out the yellow sap as it is not ideal to eat a lot of saponins. When you fillet your leaf, allow the juicy gel to sit in water for at least 2 hours. Drain off this water and use it for external skin use. Place gel in a new batch of water and this should keep in the fridge for several days. Thank you for having me and heres to your good health, Maria Sturre N.D. www.facebook.com/cooroynaturopathandherbalist My Phone number, be ready to leave a message 0401070455
