Swift and certain loss of licence for lower-range offences From 20 May 2019, a streamlined process that delivers swift and certain penalties applies to drivers who commit a first-time, lower-range drink-driving offence (which can include low, special and novice range drink-driving offences).... Drivers who commit a lower-range drink-driving offence for the first time will have their licence suspended immediately, effective for three months. This will be coupled with a significant fine (currently $561).

06.01.2022 The NSW Taxi Council CEO and Deputy CEO met with representatives from Transport for NSW and the Point to Point Transport Commission earlier today. In attendance was Dr. Armand Casolin Chief Medical Officer from Transport for NSW to discuss the Coronavirus (COVID 19) and answer questions from the Point to Point Transport Industry stakeholders including Taxis and Rideshare. Taxi Drivers are being encouraged to carry out the following hygiene practices while providing transpor...t services to passengers: 1). Use alcoholic wipes to clean any hard surfaces in Taxis at the end of each shift or during the shift, if there has been contamination by a person coughing, sneezing or touching. Eg. Door handles, EFTPOS terminals, seatbelt and dashboard. 2). Carry hand sanitiser in your taxi and ensure regular use by driver and passengers. 3). Keep tissues in your vehicle and it is okay to ask passengers to use tissues when sneezing or coughing. If you are feeling unwell, it is recommended that you stay home and get in touch with your Local GP or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222 and ask for their advice. 05.01.2022 TAXI TRANSPORT SUBSIDY SCHEME (TTSS) The NSW Government’s TTSS system provides for a discount of 50% off the metered fare to a maximum of $60 for eligible passengers with disabilities. The maximum of $120 applies to all fares of $120 or more.... In order to be eligible for fare assistance under TTSS the disability must be severe and permanent and come within the following categories of eligible disabilities: Permanent inability to walk. Total and permanent dependence on a wheelchair. Severe mobility problems which require the permanent use of complex walking aids or constant assistance of another person. Total loss of vision or severely impaired sight. Severe and uncontrollable epilepsy.
