21.01.2022 For the last six weeks I have been attending an online webinar and certification course for using WonderLogix software. The software has been created for programmers and non-programmers alike, documenting and graphically represent processes, with the ability to export into PLC code. The software provides emulation for testing and validation both during design,FAT, and commissioning. Today was the last day of the course and will sit the exams over the next week. 20.01.2022 Copperhead Controls Pty Ltd was tasked with the modification of a conveyor control panel to incorporate new PLC IO and Allen Bradley Point IO safety. The challenge was met and delivered by converting as many single level terminals to Phoenix Contact multi tier terminals, condensing circuit protection using IFM's DF range of electronic protection and relocating hardware. As part of the modifications, safety contactors were also installed interfacing from the Safety Point IO via Wieland's SNE4024 safety expansion modules. The project is still underway, however the physical work is on time and budget. Great team effort.

19.01.2022 Burner issues this week caused by faulty modulating valve and poor gas mixture. No matter the application or process, Copperhead Controls will diagnose any situation.

17.01.2022 Working on a prototype water tempering system with SAL Fabrication for Unilever Streets. The factory trial was a success. No to make the system fit for purpose.

16.01.2022 Copperhead Controls Pry Ltd is still working amidst the pandemic. Meeting the delivery time fir one of our clients, we have been working most of Easter. The control panels needed to be modified from original design as the the skid was only a concept at the time. Never the less the electrical install was completed earlier this evening. Next challenge, tomorrow will be to configure the hardware and commission the automation.

15.01.2022 The start of a two week shutdown. All hands on deck for this multi project upgrade.

14.01.2022 This week, one of the challenges was diagnosing Devicenet network fault 91 using an Allen-Bradley Compactlogix PLC. The root cause was this Satorious Weight Indicator. The units parameters appear to have been set to factory default. After resetting the field bus parameters and recalibrating the scale, the system performed normally. As technologies keep changing, devices become obsolete. Replacing the affected devices maybe a challenge but never impossible.

12.01.2022 Wow, what a weekend! Switchboard maintenance and repairs, warehouse light curtain upgrade. 3 days jam packed with work and completed successfully. Special thanks to my team for giving up the Easter Weekend to support one of our valued clients. 5 light curtains were failing during the colder months. We replaced obsolete Sick light curtains with REER Safegate light curtains.

11.01.2022 Received my certification as an Electrical Safety Engineer. I have actively been engaged in machine safety since 1998, carrying out machine and process electrical safety design, construction and commissioning, from the smallest of safety circuits to the complex networked safety systems. Shout out to Raju Kotecha of Venus Automation a very close friend and colleague in this field.

11.01.2022 Installation of a small batch controller from Burkert. The homogeniser Controls were also consolidated into the same panel. The Samos Pro safety controller from Venus Automation will manage access to the two mix tanks as well as monitoring and controlling safety for the CIP dosing.
