25.01.2022 KIDS BRIDGE. Project update Our project works for the week beginning 22 February will see construction activities progressing in the fenced work area between Perth Children's Hospital and the multi-story car park, Winthrop Avenue median and Kings Park fenced work areas. Kings Park... The western path within Kings Park is now closed between Aberdare Road and Monash Avenue for the duration of the Kids' Bridge construction. A detour is in operation using the path running immediately adjacent to Winthrop Avenue to maintain access. Excavation for pier footing works is also in progress. Winthrop Avenue At times, lane closures will be in place in one or both directions, outside of peak traffic times, for bridge construction. Speed limits will be reduced, please follow all signs and traffic management directions. Limestone has been installed in the median to provide a hardstand for piling equipment that has been mobilised and for future crane works for the project. General progress Formwork and steel reinforcement is being installed and concrete works have begun in preparation for the new bridge's footings, which are the underground support structures for the bridge. The access driveway on the hospital side of Winthrop Avenue and the site office buildings are also now in place. Piling activities will be underway from mid next week continuing into March. If you are moving past the work area or working within the health campus you may notice construction related noise as compacting and piling works progress. Work hours and frequency Works hours will usually be Monday to Saturday, between 7am to 7pm, continuing until mid-2021. If you have queries about the works please contact Miranda Nikolich via Main Roads Customer Information Centre on 138 138 or at [email protected] or you can subscribe here ( https://analytics-au.clickdimensions.com//7mspkrzeeqrpqad2 ) if you wish to be added to the project update list. 20.01.2022 JH ABRAHAM RESERVE - Maintenance Update Please be informed that the Riverwall repair works are scheduled to start on 27 January 2021 and is expected to be completed in 12 to 16 weeks. For safety reasons, the work site will be fenced off during the period of the works. In January 2020 the City closed and fenced off the footpath at JH Abrahams Reserve following evidence of damage to the footpath adjacent to the riverwall. Upon investigation, it was found that significant erosi...on had occurred over the full extent of the river wall, which impacted the structural integrity of the footpath. As river walls are an integral part of the Swan River, any works on river walls are required to be checked by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) and also need approval from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) due to environmental concerns and the Swan River being a Heritage site. Grant funding from the DBCA is available for eligible river wall works and the City has applied for grant funding to subsidise the cost of these works for the benefit of the rate-payers of the City. The approval of this grant will be known in November 2020 and the City is making the necessary preparations to begin the repair works immediately after the grant is approved, subject also to having received approval to proceed from the DPLH. The City apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates your understanding and patience on this matter.
