25.01.2022 Connection to your community is great for your mental health... and our valuable volunteers are a treasure.

22.01.2022 Most grateful for the professional advice from Robin White from the Queensland Heritage Monument restoration - showing us how to protect and preserve our pioneer headstones. There's a few graves at Coraki cemetery which need some TLC... is anyone interested in forming a team for a working bee?

21.01.2022 We are very grateful for a wonderful donation of local history books from our printer Malcolm. They range from Grafton to Yamba to Maclean and many other places along the Clarence and Richmond Rivers. If anyone would like to research their family history from these areas, please visit us on Wednesdays or Saturdays to deep dive into our new collection. Of course we also hold an extensive collection from Coraki too

21.01.2022 WANTED: glass top display cabinet. Does anyone have any style of display cabinet they no longer want/use? We're on the hunt for a glass/wood/metal box to contain some of our beautiful museum artefacts - not too tall as it is going in the centre of the River Room.

19.01.2022 Woodburn Shire Council alalgamated with Tomki Shire on 1 January 1976 to become Richmond River Shire. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of when the council stopped using the building on Adams St. Was in 1976 or later? It became the museum in 1983 but what happened in the interim years? Was it empty?

17.01.2022 Another Mystery photo. It's not a Coraki church in the background. Most of the men seem to be wearing dog-collars so a large clergy gathering somewhere... sometime... Any clues? Anyone...

14.01.2022 Huge thank you to Maddy, Ken and the team at Bunnings Lismore for their wonderful donation of paint to spice up the River Room at the museum. Let the painting begin.... if anyone has a free hour on Sunday or Monday we'd appreciate some help https://www.facebook.com/Bunnings-Warehouse-Australia-1603171633146258/

13.01.2022 Richmond Terrace Art Project Illustrator Shane Boland was commissioned to recreate some of the buildings along Richmond Terrace. The original drawing is on display at the museum with prints and calendars available at the Coraki Hotel, the Coraki Post Office and Gypsy's_Cafe. All the details visit http://coraki.town/artproject

12.01.2022 Take a stroll down Richmond Terrace... check out the colonial history display @ 109RT. It's just a tiny taste of what can be found at the museum. Enjoy

11.01.2022 This classic old honour board from the Odd Fellows Lodge is in a very sad state. We are looking for an expert master craftsman to preserve it and repair the veneer. We'll be seeking a grant to cover the cost of a professional restoration so if you know anyone who fits the bill, please ask them to get in touch with Coraki Museum to give us a quote.

09.01.2022 Check out this excellent video of the Lismore floods. Fascinating photos from early last century through to modern day. https://youtu.be/dG7VvYMWjVI

05.01.2022 AGM POSTPONED The committee has decided to postpone our annual general meeting as we cannot socially distance in the space we have available, and this poses an unacceptable risk to our members and visitors. The museum will remain open on Wednesdays and Saturdays as we are able to control the number of visitors through the door. We still need community support - please consider becoming a member and contributing some energy to preserve our history. 05.01.2022 River Room Revival - Day One First step, the puce yellow gives way to the white undercoat and already the room has new life. Removing 100 years of dust from behind the cupboard also helped We are thinking that a picture rail might be a good addition to the room and help to maintain the heritage character. Does anyone have any advice on choice of timber or installation? Does anyone have some old picture rail in their shed?... Huge thanks to our wonderful volunteers and to Bunnings Warehouse Australia for the supplies. See more

04.01.2022 The Annual Meeting of the Mid Richmond Historical Society has been re- scheduled to be held on Friday 28th August 2020 at 1pm, but to follow Covid 19 guidelines will be held outdoors at 51 Richmond Terrace Coraki. It would be appreciated by the committee if those who expect to attend could reply to the museum before 3pm on Wednesday 26th August. Ph 6683 2838 or email [email protected]

04.01.2022 A joint project between Coraki Museum and Casino & District Family History Group Inc. has produced an updated 2020 record and markup map of Coraki Cemetery. The team painstakingly trawled through old court records, newspaper notices and old ledgers to capture an accurate record of 2400+ burials since the mid 1850s. Many of the headstones are now unreadable and there are about 800 people buried with no markers at all. The book is now available to view at the museum for anyone interested in researching their family history.

03.01.2022 Keep an eye out for our wonderful new flag... and our fabulous new brochure! Grab a copy of our brochure from the Coraki Hotel, Coraki Post Office, Spar, Tony's garage and lots of other places around town. Bring your friends along - we're open Wednesdays and Saturdays - whenever you see the flag flying. [Extending our gratitude to the Quarry grants which made both projects possible :-) ]

02.01.2022 Mystery Pic From the vaults of the museum we have a photo which could possibly be Councillors or perhaps the Show Committee... does anyone recognise any of these men?
