15.01.2022 Here at CCS we are taking the COVID -19 Pandemic very seriously and, to protect the health of our customers and our staff, we have put some new measures in place. You'll notice that our front door will be inaccessible and you will be asked to come in through our side entrance. We are limiting the number of customers in the shop at any time to 2 and we will have chairs outside where customers can wait. This is to aid social distancing, and also to ensure that we can assi...st customers one-on-one and help them choose products without unnecessary handling. Please observe our social distancing floor markers, they are there for your health and ours. If possible, please pay by EFTPOS, preferably Tap and Go. You can still pay by cash if you want to, but we are encouraging people to use their card. We have a hand-washing facility right at the door for customers, and you are encouraged to wash or sanitize your hands on entering and leaving. This is not compulsory of course, but is there for your convenience. We realise these seem like extreme measures, but they are there to help protect our community. 12.01.2022 CHEAP MUD CRABS!!!! Live A grade mud crab $20 per kg Cooked A grade mud crab $23 per kg B grade, live, $15 per kg.... If you would like cooked crabs please phone orders through on 4066 8025 or after hours 4066 2108 so we can ensure we have enough cooked each day. Don't forget we can always take payment over the phone to limit the amount of time you spend on the shop if you are concerned about the Coronavirus. Pickups will then be quick and easy. We can even bring it out to your car if you've phoned ahead. We ask could our customers please observe the new social distancing rules while in the store; we have markers on the floor for your convenience. We also have sanitizer and hand washing facilities for our customers. Unfortunately we will not be doing any "eat in" lunches or sandwiches but we're happy to continue take aways. We'd like to thank our customers for supporting us during this difficult time.

We also still have prawns, Moreton Bay bugs, calamari, mussels,scallops and marinara mix, plus our amazing Hinchinbrook Muddies! Worried about heading out in public at the moment? We are happy to take orders and payments over the phone, and we can have orders packed and ready to go so all you need to do is drop in quickly to pick the...m up, or have someone pick them up for you. At this time we are not doing deliveries though. We are committed to continuing to supply our locals with quality local seafood for as long as possible during the pandemic, and it shows the importance of having locally grown or harvested food supplies. We are very lucky in Cardwell to have many great fishers and farmers in our region! helping to support our local businesses at this time!

Due to the fact that we will still be sourcing seafood products until the end of November, we will only start taking Christmas orders from December 1st, when we know exactly what delicious seafood we will have on offer and what the prices will be. ... We will also post our Christmas Order Form on our FB page from December 1st, or you will be able to pick one up in-store from December 1st. We know how important seafood is to Aussies on Christmas Day, and don't worry, we'll have you covered! We're looking forward to December's silly season, school holidays and the festivities that come along with Christmas and New Years! And we can't think of a better way to enjoy it than with top quality Queensland Seafood!

07.01.2022 Hi just doing a quick update on our opening hours, as we've had several queries. Due to Covid-19 we changed our opening hours after Easter and these haven't changed yet. They are: Thursday 9-3 Friday. 9-3... Saturday. 9-1. Occasionally you might see us open on a different day- this happens when we need to unload and fillet fresh fish. We generally don't advertise these days, as we don't have the full range available as we are focussed on filleting. We apologise for any confusion. With regard to returning to our pre- Covid 19 hours- much of our business relies on effective air freight, so once the borders re-opened we hope to be able to return to normal, but of course these are uncertain times and we will make decisions as we go. We will keep you all posted on any changes. Thanks for understanding and for supporting our business in 2020- your custom has been valued and appreciated.

03.01.2022 Our family here at Coral Coast Seafoods has been fighting against Quotas for several years now, but in September 2021, the mud crab fishery, along with several other fisheries in Queensland will go to Quota management- less than one year from now. Something I hear customers tell us regularly is that they are disappointed they rarely see Tropical Rock Lobster on the Queensland markets. The reason for this is that the lobster fishery is under Quota management and the Quota is... owned by less than 30 different entities, who export the bulk of the product overseas. If you love Mud Crab, Barramundi, King Salmon, Whiting, Threadfin Salmon, then know this: from September next year, that resource will be privatized and the prices for you, the consumer, will increase. Tell you local MP if you think this is WRONG and you want to keep Queensland fish on Aussie tables. Our family has been mud crabbing commercially for over 30 years in Queensland and yes, we too will be allocated Quota based partially on our fishing history, and partially on a formula that is designed to reduce the fishery by at least 30%. We will do what we can to keep the prices down but during the introduction of Quotas, what happens is what the government calls, "consolidation." Consolidation is the period where the fishermen and companies have to "scrap it out" and fight over what is available to purchase, ultimately leaving many unviable and meaning those with the most cash are in the best position to buy up what is available. Consolidation is known among fishers as the cannibalization of their industry peers and it lasts as long as it takes for the dust to settle. Whilst the government enjoys telling the public that Quota will create a more certain future for fishing businesses, right now, we have no idea how severe the impact will be on pricing and availability, except that there will be less product and the prices will have to increase to cover the costs of this management. Whilst we firmly believe in sustainable fishing and effective management, there are many flaws in the Quota system that we have tried, as an industry, to get government and the public to understand. But it comes down to this: less fishermen, a privatized resource, and higher seafood prices. We look forward to continuing the retail side of our business, Coral Coast Seafoods, into 2021 and will do our best to continue to provide quality seafood for our local and travelling customers. We will always do our best to fight not just for our business, but for your access to local seafood at affordable prices. We thank all our customers for their ongoing support during this time, and are incredibly appreciative that many people have taken an interest in supporting commercial fishing and local business. 02.01.2022 COVID - 19----- Impacts on Easter Trading We are preparing for the fact that our store may need to close prior to Easter. If this is the case, we are encouraging anyone who wants seafood for Easter to place their orders now and collect early. Our Easter stock is still on its way (coming early next week), including:... Ocean King Prawns $26.00 kg, or $110 for a 5kg box As usual, we will have mud crabs, Moreton Bay bugs and our usual range of frozen goods. We hope to have fresh fish available as soon as the weather comes good, however, we aren't making any promises. Because our crabbers have slowed their operations, and are now only supplying the local market, any crabs you require need to be pre-ordered and we will catch as needed to fill orders. At this stage we are still open and not doing home deliveries, however, if we have to close we will look at delivering any orders as soon as they can be filled and we will contact anyone who has an order to make arrangements. Although we are considered an essential service, we are constantly considering our risk, the risk to our customers, our families and the community. We appreciate all your support and patience, while we work our way through these difficult times. Thankyou.

So, for today only we have have fresh whole and filleted fish available in limited quantities, as well as frozen products. ... The shop will reopen again on Thursday with our full range as usual.
