03.01.2022 Shire of Exmouth RE-THINK YOUR EXMOUTH HOLIDAY For the safety and well-being of our community, council is requesting that any tourists and visitors planning to visit Exmouth over the next couple of months re-think their need to travel. Whilst we understand that this is an enormously devastating blow for our local tourism sector, it is our priority to ensure we take every precaution in restricting the possibility of an outbreak of COVID-19 in our town. Our small population,... like many other regional locations, does not have the support facilities in place to adequately deal with an outbreak of this rapidly spreading pandemic and the limited supplies of grocery items currently trickling into our supermarkets can not sustain a large seasonal increase in population. Following announcements made by the Prime Minister last night, we have seen many of our local operators be forced to make extremely hard decisions about the immediate future of their businesses. Council applauds the way our community has pulled together and been supportive of each other so far and urges all locals to maintain calm, kindness and respect for all sectors trying to survive in this rapidly changing social landscape. Due to the strict new social distancing rules now in place, the Shire of Exmouth will be making the following closures as of 5pm today: - Spray Park - Library - Town Hall - Recreation Centre - Senior Citizen Centre - Ningaloo Centre Visitor Attractions - Shire overflow facilities We are managing essential services - within health department guidelines, but fully expect to be offering these services by email and phone only in the coming days.
