25.01.2022 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL Issued at 9:36 am Thursday, 12 March 2020.... Heavy rain and gales expected over the northwest Pilbara as a tropical low approaches. Weather Situation: At 8:00am AWST, a tropical low was located about 300km north of Onslow, moving south southwest. The low is expected to reach the coast later on Thursday or early Friday and may travel parallel to the Gascoyne coast. The tropical low is not expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone but is likely to cause a period of heavy rainfall and squally winds. Along the northwest Pilbara coast between Mardie and Coral Bay, sustained GALES are possible from late this evening until Friday morning. The weather system may also cause DAMAGING WIND GUSTS to 100 kilometres per hour that could result in DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY in or near thunderstorms. HEAVY RAINFALL that may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible with isolated falls of 50mm to 100mm. Tides will be higher than normal in coastal parts. The passage of a tropical low off the northwest Pilbara is typical for this time of the year but winds and rain may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous. Severe Weather events are forecast to affect Exmouth, Onslow, Barrow Island, Coral Bay and North West Cape. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams. * Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows. * Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning. * If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water. * Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris. * Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. * Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris. * Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live. * Assess your home, car and property for damage. * If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs. * If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AWST Thursday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureaus website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Department of Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

20.01.2022 At this time of year, its not just bushfires we have to contend with in WA. Changing conditions in the top half of our State mean we will be seeing more typica...l wet season weather, which brings with it a heightned risk of cyclones. The first tropical low of the season is forming off the North West Coast over the next few days, with the potential for a Tropical Cyclone from Sunday. Even of it doesnt eventuate into a cyclone, tropical lows can cause significant damage. If you havent checked off your cyclone prep, now is the time! For more information about preparing for cyclones, visit www.dfes.wa.gov.au/safetyinformation/cyclone

13.01.2022 What a fantastic idea! The Federal Government in partnership with the Caravan Industry Association of Australia, has launched a Caravan Park Defibrillator Subsidy Program to encourage operators to install defibrillators within the parks to help save the lives of those people experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest.... The funding of $1 million from the government will match dollar to dollar up to $1000 per unit (excluding GST) purchased by an operator. As a CIAWA member you have the opportunity to access the Caravan Park Defibrillator Subsidy Program PLUS purchase the latest and approved Defibrillators at a special CIAWA member rate from DefibsPlus or St John WA. Who is eligible and do I qualify? Any commercial caravan park or accommodation provider that has caravan and camping style accommodation is eligible to apply for the subsidy. However, operators applying for the subsidy must adhere to several requirements as stipulated by the government: Caravan Parks with 40 sites or more, may access the subsidy for the purchase of up to two defibrillator units. Caravan Parks with less than 40 caravan park style sites may access the grant for the purchase of one defibrillator unit. Operators claiming the subsidy for a defibrillator must agree to the following terms on application: If requested, be able to demonstrate that their responsible staff have been or will be trained to use a defibrillator; Accept all responsibility for all liabilities in relation to the defibrillator, including their placement, security, upkeep and maintenance; Agree to fully indemnify the Commonwealth Government and Caravan Industry Association of Australia in relation to the subsidised defibrillators; Agree to the safe disposal of an expired defibrillator. A purchase receipt for the invoice must be provided. The defibrillator purchased must be on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods List. Where can I get a defibrillator? You can purchase an approved defibrillator at special CIAWA member rates from DefibsPlus and St John WA. You also have access to DefibsPlus and St John WA other first aid products - all at CIAWA member rates. We have developed the Heart Smart Park Program to empower parks to feel confident in using and maintaining their Defib.

Winds near these centres will be especially severe with localised gusts to 130km/h possible. By Sunday night, severe weather will be confined to the south west of W.A. easing during Monday.
