21.01.2022 What a fabulous day yesterday! Thank you, Innisfail Judo Club, for hosting the North Queensland Judo Championships. Well done to all the Judoka who got on the mat, there was some awesome judo on display and a lot of tough battles. Congratulation to Coral Coast Seniors Chad and Jake who participated in their first competition, you both fought well and did the club proud. Coral Coast Medal winners were: GOLD Nikita, Alex x 2, Nanami, Lily, Gwyneth,... SILVER Jake, Max x 2, Alex, Gwyneth, Oscar, Price, Nanami, Julie x 2 BRONZE Hunter x 2, Nikita, Max, Oscar, Kayla Congratulations to Max for throw of the day on mat 1 and Sensei Rob for success grading in referring. 18.01.2022 Daniel Kelly is a four-time Olympian whose record ranks amongst the best in Australian history with 8 senior Australian Championships and 7 Oceania Titles. He m...ade his first national team in 1994 and then his first Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 where he finished 9th in the U/81kg division. After improving on his debut Olympic result by coming 7th in Athens in 2004 in the U/90kg division, Kelly was knocked out in the first round of the Beijing Olympics to Japanese opponent Hiroshi Izumi. He became the first Australian judo athlete to compete in four Olympic Games when he was selected as a part of the 2012 Australian Olympic Team. While he didn't compete himself, Kelly coached the Australian judo team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Daniel is now the current Australian National Head Coach, President of Judo Victoria Inc. and is an active member of the Judo in Australia community. 07.01.2022 Talk about a growing club last night we had 38 junior judokas on the mat. It was lovely to see Matilda and Matthew back after a couple of weeks away. Only 3 weeks until we break for Christmas!

A huge Thank you to Gavin Kelly (Australian Coach and Brisbane Hub coach), and thank you to all, State Qld Coaches, Athletes and First Aid Mat crew. It was amazing training and a great weekend of Judo. #Judo #beyourbest #qldjudoka #judoQld Each session was well attended by our regular North Queensland Squad, as well as Sam King (#1 u73 and Anneliese Fielder (#1 u48), ...our very own Sebastian TEMESI (#1 u90kg). We were also lucky to have an Hungarian international u66 and Italian rep at u73 attend these sessions as well. Sam and Anneliese gave talks to the team on the importance of training and the many rewards of committing to Judo.

02.01.2022 Happy World Judo Day! What an awesome night! Thank you to all Judoka who brought a friend along, and thanks to all the friends who came along with a fantastic attitude. We hope you had fun - we hope to see you again! We also got to catch up with some familiar face who haven't been around in a while, which it was lovely to see! Don't be strangers now!... We had 50 Judoka on the mat for our junior class and 18 judoka on the mat for our senior class. Thanks to Xavier, Mara and the gang from Cairns Judo Club for making the hour long drive north - training together makes us stronger! Thanks to Glenn for cooking the BBQ and Kim Langley for the awesome cupcakes! (which tasted as good as they looked).
