25.01.2022 The morning chorus

25.01.2022 When you have those times when you ask is it worth it ? You could sell and move to town, put your feet up on weekends, and then you take a five minute walk, collect some eggs, Brazilian cherries, African birds eye chillies, capsicums, cherry tomatoes, and Trinidad scorpion chillies, and see even the hibiscus are flowering..... Whilst noticing the mangoes and apples are ripening, the avo's are getting bigger, there is a two week old heifer frolicking in the middle paddock and the house smells of banana bread , I am not going anywhere

23.01.2022 A fruitful Sunday morning saw us all out picking Brazilian cherries, otherwise known as Pitanga or Surinam berries which are high in vitamin C. Our 2.25kg haul yielded 2 jars of jam, an apple cherry pie, a bottle of cordial and some ice cream syrup.

23.01.2022 Our first second generation cow born on the farm and it’s a little heifer that we can keep. Such a pretty little one

15.01.2022 Best way to help a country town Anyone wanting to help the farmers. Load up your wallets and your Cars. Then a visit a bush town this weekend. ... Stay at the local motel, have a counter lunch at the pub. Buy some groceries at the local supermarket and have a rummage around the local shops. Country towns have a range of items you wont find in the big smoke. Plus the local businesses need the extra coin in their tills and the staff need the extra shifts. The Gold Coast definitely doesn't need your cash though the bush does. #helping country towns, helps keep us moving

14.01.2022 Continuing our weekend themed lunches....... Happy mid-autumn festival A Chinese moon festival that celebrates the reunion of family Having Brittany and Ashleigh here with us makes it more poignant

10.01.2022 So...amazingly, having survived marauding herds of cattle resulting in broken branches laden with blossoms that Michael fixed using electrical tape and having waited months for them to redden up we finally have our first crop of sub-tropical apples and they taste crisp and sweet and tangy

10.01.2022 Morning All, well yesterday we had a massive 152 mills of rain in about 2 hours, trees down and power out, but we are all good, remember "if it's flooded, forget it"

10.01.2022 Here comes the rain...again!

07.01.2022 Like sunshine on a cloudy day, these little cumquats and not so little mandarin beauties (400g each) are just the thing for winter colds

07.01.2022 Very cold, misty morning up here on our mountain

07.01.2022 Well our first attempt at a potato crop, using a no dig method, we manured and blood and boned the bed, then laid out newspaper, wet down and placed out seed spuds, then layed the straw , more manure and blood and bone, with some sawdust on top to keep out the light, a good watering and we're done

06.01.2022 All the rain this year has produced a bumper mandarin crop, 19.5kg and more on the tree

05.01.2022 These little meat chickens are food eating machines. We top their food up and change their water constantly but after we get home from work they are ravenous and we almost lose our fingers in the process. After they eat their fill they tuck themselves up together to sleep but one just couldnt quite make it and fell asleep with his head in the food tray
