20.01.2022 The time has come to break out the golf clubs and stubby coolers and get down to the Ayr Golf Club to help celebrate the end of another successful crushing season. The End of Harvest Golf day is a community event and is open to anyone who would like to come and be a part of the fun, whilst raising much needed money for charity. This year all funds raised will be donated to CORES which do amazing work within our community for suicide prevention. The event will be held on Fri...day December 11 at the Ayr Golf Club and will feature 9 holes of spectacular golf in ambrose format. The cost will be $20pp and this will include a steak burger lunch, additional steak burgers will be available for purchase for $5 if required. Nominate your team of 4-6 players including your team name and a preferred tee off time, tee off times are available from 6am-10.30am, get in quick as spots are filling fast! There will be raffle tickets available for purchase at the club house for $1ea with some great prizes available for the lucky winners, the Major Prize being a Daiken Split system Air conditioner with full installation which has kindly been donated by Richard and the team at Laser Electrical Ayr. Other raffle prizes on offer this year are a 50L portable fridge, swag and gazebo as well as many other prizes that have been kindly donated by our generous sponsors. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to CORES. Last year we raised $1700 for Laurie’s Love which was an amazing effort by everyone who attended. We also have our friends from Bray Valves and Controls sponsoring two drinks carts which will be running around the course offering a range of refreshing beverages which can be purchased for a donation going towards this year’s charity. All funds raised from the on course drinks carts will help support the amazing people at CORES continue their work throughout the local community of the Burdekin in training locals to recognise and act if they see someone at risk of suicide or self-harm. There will also be prizes for best and worst teams, longest drive and nearest to the pin for both men and women as well as great prizes for the best dressed team so get into the spirit of the event and come in the craziest outfits you can find! Presentations will be after the last team finishes their round and scorecards have been finalised. This year’s event has the added challenge of being conducted during the COVID 19 global pandemic. Luckily North QLD has remained largely unaffected by COVID19 but rest assured, all QLD government guidelines will be maintained and the health and safety of all participants will be of the utmost importance. Let’s kick COVID’s bum, raise some much needed funds for an amazing local charity and make this year the best yet! Please contact Luke, Ben or Kelsey to register your team and we look forward to seeing you there! https://fb.me/e/3JC1nV9fJ

08.01.2022 Here’s something we got sent by Judith. If you have any thoughts, ideas, or activities that help with your mental health please share it with us by sending us a message. You could inspire someone to do something creative! Hey Cores,... This is an art activity that I find helps my mental wellbeing and is enjoyable. Just need a spiral art book (A4) and a variety of art mediums, or your favourite medium. Also a little imagination and Google. Word for this week is "ratrace" which has come off the #drawthroughtwentytwenty........ 52 weeks of clues as inspiration. I then spend time thinking about how I will interpret the word, research on Google etc..........I decided to go with Chinese year of the Rat (2020) and Ox (2021).......the rats are running towards the Ox....we are all hoping that 2021 will be a much better year...........the Ox is standing strong and determined to ensure this will occur. I then think about what medium to use..........I use a variety, colour pencils, charcoal, HB pencil, pastels, water colour etc Time to create the piece (generally on A4 art paper) with music playing in the background. The completion of the piece is very fulfilling for me. Uploading and having my family and friends look forward to seeing my creation each week.
