21.01.2022 I received this beautiful email yesterday - I am devastated by the drought but emails like this are so touching. I have checked with my publisher - stock is low but not totally sold out. Fortunately I have a copy for Tamra (she was happy for me to share her email). Hi there Cori, I am writing to you in a little bit of desperation. 12 months ago, I was in a book shop and noticed your book All I Want for Christmas is Rain on the shelf. I thought it was the perfect book ...to use as an alternative & relatable Christmas text to teach in my early childhood classroom but also thought it the perfect story for my niece and nephews as they are on a cattle and sheep property near Armidale in NSW, heavily affected by drought (& more recently bushfires). That was 12 months ago, I thought the drought would break and walked out of the store without the book because I was distracted. I have thought often of this book since then and wished I had of purchased it. The last few days this was ever more evident when my 4 year old niece told her mother that she wasnt going to tell her what she wished Santa to bring her for Christmas. My sister just thought she was acting coy, but later my niece whispered to her Mum Im going to ask Santa for rain. The devastating reality for young children on farms is blatant and relentless. Even though her parents try to shelter her and her brothers from this harsh reality, they cant avoid it- my beautiful 7 year old nephew has to get off the school bus every day and go straight into work mode, helping his parents feed and water cattle and sheep- what is left of them. Casey (the 4 year old) helps to feed the poddy calves. I would absolutely love to purchase this book, as a testament to a little girls simple wish; as a memoir of her familys difficult life right now, so hopefully, one day, they can look back with pride at their resilience through this tough time. Please, if you have a spare copy to sell I will pay whatever your asking price. All online bookshops and physical bookstores are sold out. 19.01.2022 Book week 2020 is go! Children's Book Council of Australia
19.01.2022 Guardian Angels Primary School school visit today! My only August book week booking. All my other bookings are in October. Had a great day, despite the bumpy start - there are actually two Guardian Angels schools. One in Wynnum, and this one in Ashmore. I *may* have gone to Wynnum first but got there and made up time.
19.01.2022 BIG Book News! I received my new sneaky preview copies of my 5th and 6th books today and they have rocked my world! I am so happy with them. Illustrated by the mega talent Katie Alexander Art and published by Five Mile - the home of kids books - available late September 2020!

15.01.2022 I received news today that literary agent Sheila Drummond passed away peacefully on 16 Feb 2020. Sheila was my agent on my first book, Max & George (published in 2013). Sheila was very helpful in negotiating a great contract for me. Rest in peace Sheila. My thoughts are with her family, friends and the literary community in Australia. Sheila requested donations to Ovarian Cancer Australia.

Thanks to my childhood friend Anita for reminding me about it (Anita is a teacher in Peru and travels all over and resides in N.Z.). Her message reminded me how global we are! And it isn't just for teachers - there are some great school holiday activities to keep the kids busy!

11.01.2022 The kids at Evatt Primary School in Canberra have done some amazing letters to Santa . Here are two I'd like to share. I also recorded a little video for them. They read 'All I Want for Christmas is Rain' for one of their Christmas themed books. I am hearing a lot of amazing stories of kids focussing less on presents and more on the important things this holiday season. It seriously rocks my world. Kids do get it. 11.01.2022 And so book #6 is born! Manuscript finished. Due 20 Jan. So now I can truly relax. The whole book was written here in the camp kitchen at Tweed Holiday Parks Fingal Head! Have never found it so easy to write. Happy New Year to everyone!

05.01.2022 My last school visit of the year was at Trinity Lutheran College. I had so much fun with the preps to year 2s! The lovely librarian Kym Oestreich sent me a lovely testimonial (below). I am now taking bookings for 2020! You can contact Booked Out or DM me and I can direct you to my booking agents. "Our students from Prep to Year 2 all thoroughly enjoyed Coris sessions, as she kept everyone engaged for an hour! Teachers appreciated the insight that Cori gave the students int...o the process of writing and publishing. The students really enjoyed contributing to a cumulative story with each session. Cori worked above and beyond to edit and polish the story after the visit to send back to us and to type up answers to our Prep questions that they had prepared, and we ran out of time to answer in the session. We appreciate her generosity leaving the students with a meaningful literary souvenir and further writing/illustrating inspiration. There is an interesting range of characters and themes in her books and there was a wonderful global feel when she shared her books in other languages. It was so exciting for our students to read and translate in their mother tongue! We are glad that we chose Cori to work with our students. We highly recommend Cori. When asking our students (Prep and Year 1) about the visit some of their testimonial statements included Her books are good! I loved the crazy hats! I liked hearing that she was from a different country! I felt calm when she read her stories. I liked coming up with the story ideas! Rolling the dice was fun. Cori showed us how a book is made. Not many authors do that. I liked coming up with ideas for the story. I liked her expression when she read to us. I liked listening to all her stories. My favourite was Max and George. I liked that we had to remind her to put her hat on. The hats made me think about what was coming in the story."
