25.01.2022 A staggering 20,000 people in Queensland are experiencing homelessness - this is 1 in every 200 Queenslanders (source, Australian Bureau of Statistics). This in...cludes people who are sleeping rough, as well as people who are staying in temporary, unstable or substandard accommodation. How can we make a difference on this issue? How will you use your Queensland State Election vote for the benefit of the whole community? 25.01.2022 Today, we celebrate the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Mother Mary, we celebrate how your birth was a mysterious and indispensable part of our salvation. As we welcome spring, help us to remember that there is divine purpose in all things and hope eternal to be found in our every days. See more

24.01.2022 We all have choices in life. If we fail to plan then we plan to fail. Yes it is hard but the rewards are worth it.

23.01.2022 On Sunday the Catholic Church celebrated Social Justice Sunday. This years Social Justice Statement To Live Life to the Full: Mental health in Australia today, focuses on the churchs role in removing stigmatisation associated with mental ill-health. The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the mental health of many members of our parishes, schools and communities.Understanding mental health will help us to be aware of those who need our support. Our parishes, organisations and ...communities can be places of acceptance care and healing, not places of rejection, judgment or stigma. In the Social Justice Statement To Live Life to the Full: Mental Health in Australia Today, the Bishops welcome the deinstitutionalisation of mental health care in Australia. However, without adequately funded community mental health services, there is a gap in the system through which people continue to fall. Social determinants including poverty, living conditions, and personal security are significant contributors to mental ill-health. The Statement highlights the experience of First Nations people and communities, asylum seekers and refugees, people who are homeless and those who are in prison. The Bishops observe that our society tends to draw away from, or to push away, those who confront us with our frailties and limitations which is completely at odds with the story of Jesus who takes on the frailty of the human condition and draws near to those who are sick or who have disabilities, those who are marginalized or despised. People living with mental ill-health are part of the Body of Christ us and not them and share equally in Jesus promise of the fullness of life. Jn 10:10 The Bishops invite us all to reject stigmatisation, to work for the transformation of social determinants of mental ill-health, and to call for policies and service provision that meets the needs of the poorest and most marginalised members of our community. 19.01.2022 Blessed Sunday everyone! How has this Gospel reading, according to Matthew, helped and comforted you, so far this year?

18.01.2022 There are many families in our parish community who are mourning the loss of a loved one. Know that you and your loved ones, are in our thoughts and prayers. You are never alone. "The hand of the Lord feeds us: he answers all our needs"

18.01.2022 We need no key to open the ears and heart of our God who is always ready to listen to and answer our prayers. Come and worship with us at St Josephs or at Christ the King. Visit our parish website to view the weekly newsletter and to see how to book for Mass.

18.01.2022 Saturday 20th June is the feast of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We pray for Marys intercession at this time of pandemic. O IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, Help of Christians, Queen of heaven and earth, ... and tender Mother of humanity, at this time when a pandemic threatens all your children, we entrust to you our nation, Australia, and all who live in this country. We commit to your intercession all the members of our community, beginning with the weakest ones, from the unborn to the sick, the disabled and the elderly. We commit to you our families, our young and old, and all who are vulnerable, those who are quarantined or anxious. We entrust to your Immaculate Heart those who have lost their livelihood or employment, our pastors and other essential service workers, and our leaders at this time. We implore your intercession especially for the protection of doctors and nurses and those who minister to the contagious sick in this crisis. Reign over us, Mother of God, and teach us how to make the Heart of Jesus reign and triumph in us and around us, as it has reigned and triumphed in you! Amen

15.01.2022 Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. O SACRED HEART OF JESUS, Fountain of eternal life, Your Heart is a furnace of love.... You are our refuge and our sanctuary. O adorable and loving Saviour, consume our hearts with the burning fire with which Yours is inflamed. Pour down on our souls those graces which flow from Your love. Let our hearts be united with Yours. Let our wills be conformed to Yours in all things. May Your Heart bring healing for the world of the COVID 19 pandemic. May your Heart bring healing to the sick and protection and care of the many health-care workers and service providers in our communities. May Your Heart bring peace, integrity, inclusion, justice and healing to our broken world. May Your will be the rule of all our desires and actions. AMEN

15.01.2022 God of love, put into our hearts the love of your name, nurture in us what is good and by your watchful care, keep us safe.

15.01.2022 Lord, in your great love, answer me...

15.01.2022 Matthew reminds us that it is Gods role to judge those who will reach Heaven. Lets not get caught up in judging anyone. Lets concentrate on being the treasure God is looking for!

14.01.2022 Its that simple. Why live a complicated life when we have 10 Commandants to guide us. We are what we believe!

14.01.2022 God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and it takes a lot of faith but its worth the wait. Anon.

14.01.2022 Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Nativity of St John the Baptist. He was the great prophet and herald of Jesus the Messiah. He prepared the way of the Lord and revealed Jesus to others as both Messiah and the Lamb of God. St John the Baptist exemplifies the Christian life as one who proclaims the Gospel message of healing and repentance, while he points out Christ to others and shows them the way to become united with God. God of all ages, we praise your greatness as w...e honour the prophet and martyr John the Baptist, who prepared the way before your Son. His birth brought great rejoicing: even in the womb he leapt for joy, so near was our salvation. Through the life of St John the Baptist, you prepared your people for the coming of your son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Messiah. You found John worthy of a martyrs death, his last and greatest act of witness to your Son. Through his prayers, may we too be faithful messengers to prepare the way of the Lord. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

11.01.2022 PRAYER BEFORE THE IMAGE OF ST MARY OF THE CROSS MACKILLOP We stand before you, Mary, and in this time of great affliction... for this land and for the whole world. Pray for us to God through this pandemic, you who understood suffering as a compassionate mother. We entrust to you the Church in Australia, especially in Brisbane, as we take the path of the Plenary Council, listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Help us to be wise as you were wise; help us to be strong as you were strong; help us to trust in Gods providence as you did. O woman of the pierced heart, our beloved sister, we turn to you as one of us: may your love flow like living water upon the dry earth of our heart, that we may bloom in the desert as you did through the power of Jesus our Lord. Amen. St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Pray for us.

10.01.2022 O God, who have prepared for those who love you good things which no eye can see, fill our hearts, we pray, with the warmth of your love, so that, loving you in all things and above all things, we may attain your promises,... which surpass every human desire. See more

07.01.2022 There are many things out of our control right now, but singing praise to the Lord is something we can all do!

07.01.2022 Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us see your power and glory in answer to our prayers. May your will may be done in us and through us.

07.01.2022 To be forgiven is not as important as to forgive. Our actions always speak louder than our words. Yet the Lords love knows no limits, if we remember all his blessings!

06.01.2022 We all feel there are days when we just want to climb into bed and pull up the doona! St Paul reminds us that we should always be awake and ready. He challenges us to not retreat from the world but rather engage with it, and in 2020, it means being COVID-19 safe and ready!

05.01.2022 Keeping children safe and well is everybodys business. Together we can help every child thrive. We can all ...speak up if we see something that is not safe for children... ...talk respectfully with children and value and act on their ideas ...help children thrive by supporting families ...create places where children feel safe to live, play and learn Lord Jesus May we welcome the kingdom of God anew into our hearts and lives, embracing discipleship and openness to others. You call us to walk with integrity in the service of others. May our service be filled with kindness, and respect for all Gods people, giving special protection to children and the vulnerable. May we seek the truth, Listen to those wounded by abuse, and choose to act with compassion and justice. Give us the strength, to serve humbly and faithfully, and to love one another as we are so loved by You. Amen.

02.01.2022 My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord and my spirit exults in God my Saviour; because he has looked upon his lowly handmaid. Yes, from this day forward all generations will call me blessed, for the Almighty has done great things for me.

02.01.2022 Today 29th June we celebrate the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. The Statues of Saints Peter and Paul flank St Peters Square in Rome, symbolising the complimentary nature of these saints lives and mission. Paul symbolises the person who comes to faith through a dramatic conversion, falling to the ground on his way to Damascus. Peter is the person who comes to faith slowly and steadily, sometimes with two steps forward and one backward, denying the Lord, then confessing ...his faith. Gracious God, you gave the Apostles Peter and Paul the zeal to follow the way of the cross in giving up their lives for Christ in witness to the Gospel. Grant us the courage to follow their example and carry on their witness. Guide our efforts to follow Christ more closely in accepting any crosses in our lives. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

02.01.2022 We are enabled to live like Jesus - in peaceful communion with God and with one another - because we possess the Spirit of God.

01.01.2022 Come be with us. These are some of the things you may see, or experience, when you re-join us for Mass. Were so looking forward to welcoming you back! Search for Mass times, nearby you, on our website https://bit.ly/3eWp0n6
