21.01.2022 Our school leaders were out and about this morning boosting morale by cooking pancakes for Corinda. It was our first pancake breakfast since COVID-19 restrictions were put in place and it is safe to say everyone is thrilled that pancakes are back!



21.01.2022 Netball Congratulations to the Year 10 Girls Netball team who yesterday played a very competitive game in the Metropolitan Finals. The girls put in 100% effort, but didnt walk away with the win this time. The final score was 34-44. It was champion effort to make the final and thrilling to see such quality netball being played by our talented Corinda Students! Well done Girls! Football Massive Congratulations to the Year 10 Football Team who yesterday were crowned METROPOLITAN CHAMPIONS! The girls played an action packed, quality, high possession game winning 3 2 in extra time. Their success is the result of the hard work, determination and hunger that the whole team has demonstrated all year.

21.01.2022 Our International students can’t go home but they are all in good spirits. We took a group of our students to Southbank on Monday, we had lunch, saw War with Grandpa and finished off with a City Cat ride. It has been a challenging year for everyone but we are rallying around our Internationals to ensure they are ok. Merry Christmas!

18.01.2022 Yesterday, Year 11s heard speeches from the 2021 Captain Shortlist nominees. Each student spoke about their vision for 2021 and the school, what they value in a leader and shared their own unique perspective on how they would bring their best for their peers. Corinda wishes Rebecca, Camryn, Kim, Justin and Benjamin the best for their upcoming interviews at the end of this week. Voting is open for Year 11 students and Year 10s will view the recording of the speeches on Thursday afternoon so they may cast a vote afterwards.

16.01.2022 The QSS Teams Tennis finals were held in Rockhampton in the last week of term 3. The girls team played well and finished 4th place in Queensland! In the Grand Final, the boys played The Southport School and lost on countback. A great effort boys, congratulations to both teams!

13.01.2022 UPDATE: The boys won AGAIN this afternoon 32-30 in a nail biter of a game! They will play again at 8am tomorrow morning. We are already so proud. Lets go Corinda! Our amazing basketballers are competing at the Champion Basketball School of Queensland titles right now! They have won their first game 31 - 26 and are currently playing their second game. GO CORINDA!

12.01.2022 Good luck to our Opens, Year 10 and Year 8 Netball Girls today! They are competing in the Met Final Semi final against Redcliffe and Caboulture. All three teams beat Wavell SHS a Netball School of excellence - last week in some exciting and close games to make it to this stage! Go Corinda!

12.01.2022 The Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Unit from University of Queensland (UQ) came to visit our senior indigenous students to talk about University life. They discussed the benefits of living on campus, camps for secondary students, becoming involved with the social, cultural and community aspects at UQ as well as the academia side of University study. The students enjoyed the visit asking lots of questions and broadening their minds about the opportunities available for their future.

12.01.2022 Last Wednesday evening our recently graduated Y12 students attended their Graduation Ball at Warner Bros. Movie World. The event was uniquely spectacular and enjoyable for all!

12.01.2022 Culinary Golden Opportunities day was a great success yesterday. Students from various primary schools engaged in a day of Culinary Excellence, with our two amazing teachers, also both qaulified chefs - Joanne Strother and Lisa-Maree Thederan. Students enjoyed a full day of skills, making butter from cream, using the buttermilk to make pancakes, jam, pizza base and topped with fresh herbs, from our school Paddock to Plate - Market Garden.

11.01.2022 Our Netball girls won all three games today at the Met Semi Finals progressing through to the Metropolitan GRAND FINAL to be played next Wednesday! Our Y10 Girls Football team will also compete at the Met Grand Finals next week. Opens Corinda defeated Caboolture 49 - 7 Year 10 Corinda defeated Redcliffe 30 23 Year 8 Corinda defeated Caboolture 38 7 ... Huge congratulations to these wonderful teams - we are so proud!

10.01.2022 Congratulations to our 2020 Year 12 Graduates for making it through this unique and challenging year. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating their achievements today at the Queensland Tennis Centre. Keep an eye out on Channel 7 news tonight.

10.01.2022 Senior Gala Day last week was a great success with plenty of exciting results for Corinda. We are immensely proud of our Open Boys Basketball and Open Boys Volleyball teams for winning the premier flag in the West Brisbane Secondary School Sports Association! An outstanding achievement. Our Junior Gala Day will be held in week 10 with Ultimate Disc, AFL and Badminton. Trials start this week so if students are interested they can sign up at the Sports Hall.

Students are collecting data to implement activities to increase awareness of the issue of homelessness. 08.01.2022 Our Open Netball and Year 8 Netball teams played in their Metropolitan Grand Final yesterday against St Peter Claver. Our Opens played an awesome tight game, losing by just 5 goals. MVP went to Emma for her hunger and drive throughout the whole game. The Year 8 team faced a fierce, well drilled opposition, and eventually conceded the win. Player of the match went to Leone.... The school is very proud of what both teams have achieved this year. All the best of luck to our year 10 Netball and Year 10 Football Girls who will play in their finals today!

06.01.2022 Westpac Youth Impact Challenge Congratulations to five of our Year 9 and 10 Future Enterprise groups who have been successfully selected for Round 2 of the Westpac Youth Impact Challenge. The Westpac Youth Impact Challenge is a nationwide initiative open to all Australian students from Year 1 to 12. The Challenge aims to help students solve problems in their local communities. Our students have identified a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and developed an innovative business or social change idea to solve it. For Round 2, our students are to develop a 3-5minute video further outlining their business plan and the impacts their concept will have on their identified SDG.

05.01.2022 Yesterday, Corinda hosted the first round of the Metropolitan West Netball Finals. Three of our four competing netball teams won their games and will progress through to the next round of Finals. Special mention to our opens who competed in a nail biting game winning by one point against Redlands. Also, huge congratulations to our year 10 team who beat Wellington Point 27 9 in a great show of skill (picture below.)

Brett Lee, from Internet Safe Education, drew upon his 22 years of experience with the Queensland Police Force, including 16 years in the field of Child Exploitation, to present information regarding cyberbullying, the dangers of strangers behind the screen, the legal ramifications associated with negative online behaviours and strategies to remain safe online. 04.01.2022 Yesterday, some of our year 10 students attended the University of Queensland as part of the Experience UQ Day for high school students. They spent the day exploring the campus, participating in workshops and finding out what options are available for their future.

04.01.2022 Last weekend year 8 student Cameron Dugdell and year 9 student Charlie McBride competed in the Gold Coast All Schools Rowing Association Regatta at Wyaralong Dam. The boys recorded some impressive results including placing in the top three in several races. Our rowing boys train long and hard to compete in these regattas and it is wonderful to see their hard work paying off!

03.01.2022 FUNDRAISER FOR FIJI! This Wednesday, students and teachers are encouraged to wear a fancy pair of socks in a Fundraiser for Fiji! These could be bright, black, or represent a footy team - all for a gold coin donation. Corinda SHS is taking part in our global community by raising money for solar panels for a school in Fiji without electricity. This school, in return, commits to collecting sea rubbish that washes up on their beaches each day. ... Students are asked to arrive and leave school in correct school uniform, and to change into their preferred socks once at school. Members of the Student Council will collect donations before school and during P1 - identifying students who have participated with a yellow wrist band.

01.01.2022 Nicole Dyson, Founder and Director of Future Anything visited Corinda last week to speak about Entrepreneurship. Our Year 9 and 10 students are currently planning their own social enterprise and will be entering their ideas in the Future Anything State Competition. Nicole came and spoke with our students about what the judges look for in the applications and gave them some great advice about their business concepts.
