25.01.2022 City of Mitcham has stepped up support for local businesses with a series of targeted measures including waiving fourth quarter rates for businesses forced to c...lose due to COVID-19 Federal and State directives. Businesses and other ratepayers impacted by COVID-19 that are eligible for the Jobkeeper payment can apply to have 50% of their fourth quarter rates waived and the other 50 per cent deferred until December 2020. This support builds on a range of measures already introduced. For more information and to apply for rates relief, visit http://ow.ly/kPxg50zAtRk. See more

24.01.2022 Last night I was proud to move and have Council endorse: 1. that eligible rate payers experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic can, on application, defer outstanding rates and charges per property until 15 December 2020. 2. a rates rebate scheme for eligible rate payers, for the 2020/21 Draft Financial Business Plan, for a 10 percent rebate for 2020/21. Eligible ratepayers are considered to be:... - Commercial ratepayers (direct or indirect) who have been required to close - Commercial ratepayers (direct or indirect) that are eligible for the JobKeeper payment - Non-Commercial ratepayers (direct or indirect) who are eligible for either the JobSeeker or JobKeeper payment - Any other ratepayer (direct or indirect) that satisfies administration that they are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 situation, via a reduction in income of 15% or greater. The Council also waived inspection fees and charges associated with food businesses until 31 October 2020. In addition, I was pleased to support the bring forward of $4.7m of stimulus projects and place on the table a large package of measures, some of which will require the State or Commonwealth to support.

18.01.2022 A great opportunity for our community.

18.01.2022 I was very pleased to promote this and for kids to ‘adopt’ 500 trees this year. I argued strongly to go beyond the staff recommendation and to double the trees provided.

16.01.2022 Mitcham Railway Station is looking a little brighter with the addition of a new #RailCare mural. Established and well-known local street artist Adam Poole-Mott...ishaw has used his modern-contemporary art style to create this project, with the mural capturing images of native wildlife, and also featuring the mountain bike culture that the Belair line attracts. Mitcham station has a regular stream of mountain bike riders that catch the train from Mitcham up to Belair and ride the downhill tracks back down to Mitcham. The Rail Care program works with locals and volunteers to improve the look and feel of train and tram stations and rail corridors for neighbours and travellers. 12.01.2022 Like many residents I'm feeling very concerned at the proposal for the 195, 196 and 197 buses being discontinued by the State Government. Many residents use these services to get to work and many parents have children who use them to get to school in Mitcham, Unley and the City. They are a vital part of the community services. I have lodged a motion for the next Council meeting to lend Mitcham Councils support to help overturn this proposal.

03.01.2022 Breaking news: Tonight, I moved, and Mitcham Council passed that Quarter 4 rates on businesses forced to shut, would receive a 100% waiver from paying rates. Also, if a business has suffered to the point of needing JobKeeper, but is otherwise operating, then a 50 per cent waiver applies. The average saving for a business will be $660.
