11.01.2022 FIFTY YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP and GREAT VIBE & HOSPITALITY @ THE CORINTHIAN ROTISSERIE (PSISTARIA) What starts out as an outing, to take your father out, turns out ...to be a very special night and as it turns out... it has to be at Marrickville's iconic CORINTHIAN ROTISSERIE... With Michalis Vasilas returning from holidaying in Greece, he had to pass on so many people's regards to the Psistaria's one-and-only chef, Fotis Giannakelos. Once Fotis sat down, and the regards were over, all the reminisces came out- like how Fotis got out on Marrickville's Pantheon Nightclub' fire in the early 1980s- and so many more. Time stood still for these two friends as they relived their heady years of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s... What makes the Psistaria unique is all the patrons practically know each other and if you do not know them, there is a great chance you will get to know them. There was a a group of young Lebanese men who randomly shouted us arak!!! What started off as two friends recounting their stories grew into something more, as Kostas from Marrickville's Yeeros Shop came into the psistaria and joined the group. More food, more drink and it was "stin ygeia sas vre paidia!" If that was not enough, Ilias- from Marrickville's Agios Nikolaos Church, came in and joined the group too. More rounds of food and drink... And it is this incredible connection patrons have at the Psistaria that makes it one the unique places in Sydney. This warm environment has been developing since 1980 when the Giannakelos family began operating the Psistaria: the Giannakelos family- with Foti and Maria- and their two sons, Giorgo and Chris- are the perfect hosts... with their warm hospitality that makes patrons feel at ease!!! AND TO FOTIS AND MICHALIS' 50 YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP!!!
