25.01.2022 The Winter Series in ON! Daniel Andrews has supported the resumption of competitive sport so the 2020 Winter Series is on! Woo Hoo! Full details attached but basically enter by Wednesday 6pm each week, here: ... https://www.trybooking.com/BKDJV organise yourself a boat with The Captain and let me know if you are sharing. Heats will be every 30 minutes from 9:00am Sundays and the draw will be posted Thursday on this platform (faceboook) Covid19 rules apply so hygiene and social distancing are key and you are to minimise your time at the boathouse. Of course that means no toasties and coffee after the race Other than that it will the same great racing on the second best water in the Known Universe (there must be a better spot but I've never heard of it )

23.01.2022 Winter Sculling Update Soo, the Great Covid Beastie has unleashed its wraith upon the good citizens of Victoria and bought unprecedented pain and suffering. Well. . . has bought a pause to the Winter Series, and that's pretty bad! We're not sure how long we will be in this situation but we will be ready to respond when circumstances permit. On that basis we will suspend the series and complete the last 2 events, and the Sculler's Head of the Barwon as soon as we can. ... In the mean time I'll try to get the cups distributed to the winners so far (they come from Ballarat . . . ironic eh!) and we will post updates when there's something to report. So team let's keep it in perspective. We are facing naught but a brief pause, and we'll soon be back on the water, so keep your chin up and you powder dry. We'll see you on the other side!

Please note that we are refining our Covid19 practices and have amended the heat times so check them out. Also please remember the Covid19 Golden Rules :... 1. Social Distancing 2. Hygiene 3. Spend the least time at the river as you can. This is especially important with the lift in cases here-abouts. So stay safe and see you Sunday. 18.01.2022 Winter Series Race 1 Well sportsfans the entries are in and the draw has been done. The draw (and the results) can be found at the link below. This will be the same for the whole season so copy it to your smart device and you can see the results posted live!!!: On Sunday we need to respect Covid19 restrictions or we will be shut down so Please oh please follow these 3 rules:... Socially distance Wash hands and equipment with soapy water Minimize time at the river You can abide by 3) by arriving just 30 minutes before your allocated race time. Proceed straight to the start and leave immediately after washing and racking your gear. Barwon and Corio Bay members should keep to their shed areas and Ballarat guests should find a separate spot in between. Bow numbers will be available at your shed / trailer and you will have the same number for the whole season. This is going to be GREAT. See you Sunday! https://docs.google.com//1dyL1tF_yPnQyLD4IeS_8AOvRgm/edit

18.01.2022 Winter Series Race 2 There are may words that could be used to describe today's conditions but the best one would be "Fast". Fast conditions but as well a few of our competitors are waking up from their rowing hibernation and finding their feet (oars?). Alternatively they had a bit of a rest last week but for whatever reason some improvement in times is SPECTACULAR! And of course best in our heat winners. I did my best to hold back Paul Grisenti by messing up his start but i...t seems that just lifted him to a higher plane. He and our other heat winners; Joe, Tam , Charlotte and Teneille all knocked around 20 seconds off last week. I am showing 2 winners of Heat 4 because it was Harvey's first outing with us and his forecast time was over a minute slower than he actually did. Ah well that Wendouree has very slow water! Fastest of the day was Xavier with 5:28. Very vice. Regarding points - last week was awarded 5 points to all who participated and henceforth its 10 for first, 9 for second, etc. Good luck and see you next Sunday Full results can be found on this link which remains the same for the whole season (and was in fact the same for last season and probably will be for the next one as well) https://docs.google.com//1dyL1tF_yPnQyLD4IeS_8AOvRgm/edit

12.01.2022 TUB SCULL FLEET REPLACEMENT The current tub scull fleet is old, the boats are heavy and have no flotation. With the assistance of a member more details about this to follow it is proposed to replace them with four Race1 scuds, a fully enclosed shell with self-draining cockpit. You can read all about the scud on the maker's website: https://www.race1.com.au/race1-scud-recreational-craft.... As part of this process, the club has entered into a fundraising partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation, which accepts donations and channels them to the Club. The donations are then tax-deductible for amounts over $2. Your support in helping us purchase these scuds for our fleet would be greatly appreciated. For information about the project go to: https://asf.org.au/projects/corio-bay-rowing-club/, or straight to the Donate page: https://asf.org.au/donate/safer-tub-fleet

06.01.2022 Winter Series Race 4 Hey Boys and Girls - The draw for Heat 4 is posted and can be found at The Link (another copy below). A jolly slow heat last week which has made things interesting - and even more so because in all my calculations, I forgot to update points. May I do that tomorrow please? I believe I have accounted for all the shared boats but I would be pleased to hear if there are improvements to be made. Looking forward to Sunday already!... https://docs.google.com//1dyL1tF_yPnQyLD4IeS_8AOvRgm/edit

05.01.2022 Winter Series Race 2 Draw Hey Winter Series Fans! What a MAGNIFICENT day last week - I mean hardly the Winter Series really? The good news is that the weather man is promising a much more wintery day this Sunday so Rug UP! So last week was something of a test and we congratulate you for your excellent work. Remember:... Social Distancing Hygiene Minimum time at the river Social Distancing. The observant ones among you will have noticed Social Distancing is repeated. That is because that is the one we seem to be having trouble with. Remember, keep apart and no more than 10 in a group. Some AWESOME times were posted - the best a sparkling 5:32 from Xavier! A hellavaway to kick off the series. The heat winners are marked in GOLD and when the winners cups arrive - there's one for each of you! Woo Hoo The draw is up using the same link (below) and please note the change in heat times. We are looking to close up the process a bit. And when the weather is bad - please be on time to minimise the time your fellow competitors spend sitting in the rain waiting for you. 05.01.2022 News Flash: Winter Series Racing Suspended Hey Winter Series-ers I have some good news, some bad news and some more good news.... First - some Bad. Racing is suspended for 2 weeks. That is : No race Sunday! It has become apparent that with the short-notice kick-off I have left some important approvals unapproved. This means we are un-insured and while there are many who might say that that's not important we need to remember that all looks great until it isn't. So I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me if we suspend racing for 2 weeks while I get my ducks in a row. Some good news - The Cups have arrived!! Photo below with the series trophy the Yrangie Cup. Woo Hoo. So when we do recommence I'll distribute the winners cups awarded to date. Some more good news - We have a plan to run the Sculler's Head of the Barwon! It will be a different format from the usual but it will be the SHotB none-the less. So 2 more regular events then the SHotB to come. Definitely worth the wait! Sorry again and I'll keep you posted! Peter

04.01.2022 Winter Sculling Race 4 Results Team, We had a cracking day for a bit of a splash on the river and and the results are in. This time I remembered to update the points too so lots to see now. ... The conditions suited most folks with another fast-ish day but of course fastest for our heat winners. Joffa got too excited and went early then stopped, went again and at the end of it all finished first. He let me know immediately and we had a talk about it and we made a considered adjustment. Joffa ended up second, which puts Molly in the winner's circle! Joining her are Keylah, Tanya and Ella, all beating their expected times by around 10 seconds! great work. In heats 3 and 6 we had folks new to our competition cross the line first and well done but that's not really fair without a real handicap. Under those circumstances the gong goes to the first regular handicapped rower across the line so Liz and Fiona join the winners - Woo Hoo! Points wise - the Best Boats leader is Lili Batrouney with a strong 31 points. Watch out though because there are 7 others within 4 points so anything can happen here. In the tubs Liz Brehaut has the lead on 22. Full results can be found here: https://docs.google.com//1dyL1tF_yPnQyLD4IeS_8AOvRgm/edit See you all Sunday!
