23.01.2022 Don't forget to come along today and see Santa. The brigade is lucky enough to have his help this afternoon to hand out lollies before he has to head back to the North Pole.

21.01.2022 Make your bushfire plan now!

20.01.2022 Santa and his helpers are well on their way. They hope to see you at one of the stops throughout the day.

17.01.2022 VICSES Corio Unit and Corio Fire Brigade would love to see you this Sunday for the 2020 Santa Run in Geelong's northern suburbs! Santa is excited to be out of lockdown, and asked very nicely to be driven around to see families before Christmas with a red CFA fire truck and an orange SES rescue truck. Of course we were more than happy to help. Santa asks that everyone please maintain 1.5m distance at each stop, CFA and SES elves will be there to help. Most importantly, he asks... that everyone is kind to each other and has a very Merry Christmas! Make sure to like and follow VICSES Corio Unit and Corio Fire Brigade on Facebook for live updates on the day. We hope to see you all there!

16.01.2022 Earlier this month we were honoured to be at NimbleHits Indoor Sport's first ever Bushfire Charity Indoor Cricket Tournament. This local sports club generously organised the day to raise funds for our volunteer fire brigade, something we are tremendously grateful for. Thanks a lot to NimbleHits for putting the day together, and to everyone who attended for their generosity.

15.01.2022 Each year we are tremendously honoured to lend a helping hand the the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal to help raise much needed funds for those who need it most, and this year is no different despite the challenges posed by Covid-19. The Good Friday Appeal are running a Virtual Tin Shake in place of the usual roadside tin shake we take part in, and we couldn’t be more proud to share the word on this great initiative to raise as much money as possibly during this difficult time. We ask that you dig deep this Good Friday. There is a light at the end of this Corona-tunnel, and we want to help make sure that light is as bright as possible for the little ones who‘s second home is the RCH. #givethattheymaygrow

15.01.2022 Fire season isn't coming, it's already here. The warm weather over the weekend serves as a timely reminder to ensure you are prepared this bushfire season. How well do you know fire?

10.01.2022 A record 51 aircraft will hit Victorian skies to help fight fires and keep communities safe this summer season. The 2020-21 aircraft fleet includes a mix of w...ater bombing aircraft, air supervision and air intelligence-gathering aircraft. Two Large Air Tankers, which can carry up to 15,000 litres of water, foam or retardant, and two 7500-litre Aircranes, will contribute to the 51 aircraft in the core-fleet and provide essential support to other aircraft across the state.

10.01.2022 Its Spring now it’s time to prepare your property for the fire danger period Landowners and tenants should be preparing their properties well before the start... of the Fire Danger Period. A lot of things can be done in the garden and around the home to improve the chances of surviving the impact of a bushfire or fast moving grassfire. Now is the time to clean up leaves, twigs, bark and long grass around the home and farm properties as fires cannot be lit in the open air during the Fire Danger Period without a written permit from CFA or a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer. During the pre- Fire Danger Period clean up, if you plan to burn those piles of fallen branches, bark and leaves, call the VicFire Burn-off notification line on 1800 668 511 to avoid an unnecessary fire brigade callout. Once the Fire Danger Period has been declared in your municipality by CFA, lighting a fire in the open without a permit can attract a penalty of $17,000 and 12 months imprisonment. There are even greater restrictions for Total Fire Ban days due to the greater risk of fire. To view or download the Can I or Can’t I brochure, go to the CFA website www.cfa.vic.gov.au or call 1800 226 226 See more

09.01.2022 A Total Fire Ban has been declared Statewide tomorrow Monday 30 December 2019.
