25.01.2022 We’ve been asking all patients and caregivers attending our clinics to wear masks to their appointments - this is a simple way for us all to do our part to minimize the spread of respiratory droplets and disease There are a lot of good resources online for making your own mask (3 layers is best) and tips on how to safely put on and off (remember to dispose of masks safely after use!) We know these can feel uncomfortable at first, but they are very safe and will help save lives

25.01.2022 Australia has done a great job at flattening the curve and keeping coronavirus numbers low. As restrictions relax over the coming months it will be easy to let this good work slip- but please continue to practice good hand hygiene and appropriate social distancing when out around others. If you’re feeling unwell with fever and/or respiratory symptoms (cough, sore throat, shortness of breath) or have come into contact with a confirmed COVID case, please notify reception/your GP before coming to the clinic so we can arrange the best place for you to be seen - we are still doing all we can to keep our patients and their families safe And don’t forget- if you have symptoms you can get tested through Barwon Health North- contact 4215 4445 to arrange a time

23.01.2022 Check out the Department of Health Website for information about using face masks - including links to making your own cloth masks that you can wash and reuse! https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/face-masks-covid-19

22.01.2022 It is common for kids to pick up multiple respiratory infections each year- and while it’s still far more likely that they’ve picked up the common cold, the only way to know whether their symptoms are due to coronavirus is to get tested. Current federal guidelines recommend that any children with symptoms of a respiratory infection (such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose) should get tested and stay at home until their symptoms have resolved (even if they have the common cold, we don’t want them spreading this to other kids who then need to get tested too!) While the thought of testing young children can be confronting, there are ways you can make this process less scary for kids- have a read of this article for some expert tips! https://www.abc.net.au//how-to-get-your-child-to-/12304252

21.01.2022 Reminder to all Victorians: #Cancer screening programs continue to operate, and measures are in place to make sure these are safe to attend. Please don’t avoid ...attending your appointment. Getting screened could save your life. If you are due for breast, bowel or cervical cancer screening, please make time to get checked. If you notice any unusual changes in your health, book a GP appointment without delay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBg2qoCqjLU

21.01.2022 Nothing matters more than your health, so keep up your regular appointments. You can see your doctor, psychologist or allied health professional by telehealth, ...phone or video conference, or in person. 20.01.2022 FLU CLINICS Please note if you’ve booked into our drive-thru flu vaccine clinic at Corio Medical Clinic- these will now be performed inside the clinic in line with new state recommendations. Your appointment time is still the same, but please come into the clinic and follow the signs to receive your vaccine. Please do not come into the clinic if you are unwell (such as fever, cough, sore throat etc) If you are eligible for a government funded vaccine and yet to book, please call to make an appointment If you are not eligible for a government funded vaccine but would like a private vaccine- make a telehealth appointment with your GP for a script. Once you have the vaccine you can make a time with our nurses to have your injection, but please note there are currently shortages at many pharmacies, so you may need to call around!

19.01.2022 ** GP VISITS** Your health is important to us. Social distancing and staying at home are key to maintaining low numbers of COVID 19 in our community, but it doesn’t mean that other health conditions have gone away. A lot of our work can be done by phone, but there are still lots of reasons to see your GP face to face Chronic disease (like type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure) haven’t disappeared during this crisis, and still need regular review. We can do your Chronic Di...sease Management Plan by phone, but may still need blood tests or review in person to ensure your longer term health is optimized Cancer prevention and screening is still essential. Please don’t delay getting a Pap smear, or avoid getting a suspicious lump or mole checked out by your GP during this time! Childhood immunizations are still being provided and as important as ever! And if you’re child is unwell please don’t avoid seeking medical attention. GP clinics and emergency departments are still here for you! If you’re worried about coming into the clinic you can discuss with your GP by phone, who can help to arrange the most appropriate time and place to see you or your family. We have worked hard to put procedures in place to minimize risk in our clinics, and want to continue to help you with your general health and well-being, during and beyond this pandemic.

17.01.2022 As restrictions ease further today, we wish our local families and businesses well as they reengage with the community. Please remember to continue to practice safe distancing and hand hygiene to protect yourself and those around you. If you have a fever or respiratory symptoms (such as cough, sore throat, feeling short of breath) please contact 52 749 499 before attending the clinic so we can arrange the best care for you, while keeping our other vulnerable patients safe. ...Please also note that even if you are feeling well, we are still asking patients to wait in their car for their appointment where possible in order to minimize numbers inside the clinics at any one time. Call reception to let us know when you arrive, then you will be called in when the nurses/doctor are ready. Thank you to all our patients for your understanding and cooperation.

16.01.2022 If you don’t have access to a sewing materials or not able to buy masks, you can still make your own using materials around the home (like old bandanas or pillow cases and rubber bands or hair ties) Below are some examples of how to make a mask without the need for any sewing skills! Just remember 3 layers is best, and wash your mask between uses (if using filters, throw these out after each use) https://www.familyhandyman.com//how-to-make-3-different-d/

15.01.2022 To remove your mask: 1. Wash or sanitise your hands. 2. Unloop the elastic from your ears. 3. Don’t touch the front of the mask, only the elastic or strings. 4.... If disposable, throw your mask in the bin. 5.If washable, put it straight into the laundry or a sealable bag. 6. Wash or sanitise your hands again.
