24.01.2022 Introducing Liz Wickramasinghe! We are thrilled to have Liz's work in the gallery as part of our new exhibition THIS PLACE! Using a multi-layered process in her paintings, Liz incorporates printmaking techniques to reveal and conceal elements of her compositions. She also integrates a range of mark making techniques: stencilled, printed, etched, painted and drawn. These methods culminate in an almost textile-like, stitched quality. A finish of repetitive, hard-edged lines are a visual reminder of the human impact on the landscape, a common theme explored in much of her work. http://www.cornerstoregallery.com/liz-wickramasinghe

24.01.2022 Fiona Schofield Millinery brings her workroom and wares to The Corner Store Gallery for a third year to delight the senses. A wonderful combination of workspace and retail shopping, she will be operating from the gallery space, making and creating new pieces and custom orders, as well as bringing a wonderful selection of her favourite pieces for sale. This is a wonderful opportunity to shop her range of handmade hats in both felt and straw and have some individual time and access to discuss styles and designs that suit your needs and style, all while finding the perfect hat. Fiona is a formally trained milliner, with a background in design. 19.01.2022 Tanya McAllan's ‘tread lightly’ ethos involves sourcing all her art surfaces including skateboards, canvas and ply from verge cleanups, and making her own frames with reclaimed timber Venetian blinds. Tanya has won numerous awards in recent years, rewarding her years of sketching whilst working as a graphic designer. At the Royal Art Society she has won the Landscape prize in 2016 and 2018, and the Drawing Prize in 2017. 18.01.2022 Jackie Anderson is a New Zealand born mixed media artist working from her sunny Newcastle home studio. Jackie's work is characterised by her confident use of colour and abstract shapes and marks. She uses visual imagery to build abstracted and re-arranged landscapes that are unrestricted by traditional notions of scale, perspective or time. 17.01.2022 Brand new work by Ann Gordon! "When I visited Orange this year I took my painting journal up to Mt Canobolas to record the landscape with charcoal and paints. The bush is regenerating and the landscape is transforming. The grey blues and greens of regrowth are spectacular against the blackened tree trunks. The colour of the earth is pinky orange with soft yellow grasses. I recorded the palette in my journal and brought home to the studio some fallen branches and twigs to use in mark making. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to have had this adventure and to have some inspiration to build up a series of works while in self isolation in the studio." http://www.cornerstoregallery.com//ann-gordon-glider-trail

12.01.2022 And that’s a wrap! What a year 2020 has been! Even though we had to close our doors for 12 weeks it’s been our biggest and busiest year yet. We just wrapped up @thejourneyperson Christmas Popup today and it was huge. I’m taking a much needed break over the summer. Doors will reopen after Australia Day, though our online shop will be open 24/7 over the summer.
