23.01.2022 NEW RECORD PARTNERSHIP C Grade - 7th Wicket Partnership History was broken on the weekend as the C Grade amassed their huge total of 7/313 from the 60 overs.... A long standing 33 year old record partnership for the 7th Wicket of 101 runs held by Noel Pettingill - Andy Jervis (14 February 1987) would be eclipsed. A NEW RECORD PARTNERSHIP for the 7th wicket would be set at 129 runs between; Trent Morey (71 not out from 67 balls) (11x4s & 1x6) and Nick Spano (45 runs from 37 balls) (5x4s & 1x6). With a great platform laid at the top of the order by captain and opener Garry Handke (93), in his 50th game of the club. The record breaking pair would come together with the side at 6/184. Both looking to take the bowling on, scoring at better than a run a ball. They would combine with 16x4s and 2x6's with a variety of big hitting shots. It is not very often that records such as these are broken. Congratulations Trent and Nick!! If you would like to hear more about this partnership, Trent is always happy to share his thoughts
23.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY Brought to you by one of our Gold Sponsors The Fish Man ... 1991 D Grade 1st Wicket RECORD PARTNERSHIP The D Grade 1st wicket record partnership was set at 236 runs on 14 December 1991- close to 30 years ago. We asked Tony Benson, who held that record for his memories of the game. We played St Marks [now Morphettville Park] at Dover Gardens Primary School. St Marks were renown for not naming their side and depending on their game situation, would bring in batsmen or bowlers to help them win. They had a player named Graham Tuohy who was an electrician and could not commit to 2 Saturdays consecutively so played most games only in the second week. It was because of examples like this that teams are now required to swap team lists before the toss of the coin. Graham was a very good batsman who scored over 400 runs each year but spread over A, B or C grade. Knowing this, both Glen and I dropped down to bolster our batting in the D grade. That year I played 3xA grade, 9xB grade and 1x D grade games. Sure enough, Brett Chilton lost the toss and we were put into bat and they named Tuohy in the side but he was not there [because he was turning up to bat the next week]. They brought a sub fielder. The opening bowler for St Marks was Troy Rosser who had been dropped from A grade. Troy was an imposing figure..tall and muscular. He was quick and a left hander to boot. Glen said I could face up and in the first over I mistimed a hook and the ball hit me in the chest. Troy was pumped and had a lot to say. He proceeded to bowl 4 balls every over that were short and at my chest [thinking I had a weakness playing the short ball]. I never missed another ball and hit him over the boundary many times either square cutting him or hooking. At the end of the day, he had none for plenty and was fairly angry at me. Glen and I batted together from 1.30 until 4.30. I made 132 and Glen 72, and our partnership was 236. Congratulations to Laurence Borda and Daniel Keese (AKA Pablo Pablo) on creating a new opening partnership in the D grade a few weeks ago. Records are made to be broken! Other highlights in the 1991/92 season included: Brett Chilton took 30 wickets in the D grade, including a hat-trick against North Park II. Leigh Porter made 103no against North Park II. Wayne Jones represented the Club in the Association side (yet again). Paul Durham and Nathan Turco won the double-wicket competition. The Ramblers were sponsored by the Duck-Inn. Steve Davenport was President. Jarrad Benson made his debut for the club, filling in in section 2 as a 13 year old. He made 0* and bowled 2 overs 0/19. Life member, Peter Oates bowled 156 overs in the B grade, carrying the attack. The next closest bowler only bowled 68 overs. Bill Tonkin won the most promising junior award Steve Davenport and John Davis were awarded life membership.
22.01.2022 Good evening Ramblers & Families, Tomorrow we (finally) return to cricket & a part of this return is complying with new COVID regulations. Effective immediately we will need each senior player or junior parent to sign in their child(ren) on their phone when arriving at both practice and training. The sign in process is very simple - our new COVID tracking QR code will be displayed on the practice nets or be with your team manager/coach at weekend games. The process is very s...imilar to that the senior players already complete. Simply, open your camera app (or a downloaded QR code reader for older phones) and hold the QR code in shot. A small banner should appear at the top of your screen which you can click & open a registration screen. You will be asked to enter your full name and mobile number, before confirming the sign in with a authorisation text message. (see images) We have confirmed you can sign both a child and a parent in using the same mobile number - just scan the code twice. This needs to be completed on each occasion either you or your child comes to cricket. We will try to be at the nets to help anyone who needs it this week. If you don’t sign in the club risks a $5000 fine, so please do the right thing and help keep everyone safe. Hopefully this short term pain will mean we can get back to normality soon.

15.01.2022 ROUND RECAP: Last game of the season for the 16's, 12's and 10's. The A Grade win on day 1 and the B's post a big 300 score! A GRADE: Rd13 v Glenelg (Day 1) Coming off a disappointing result in our previous match the A Grade bounced back strongly against Glenelg, securing the win on day 1. After losing the toss and being sent into the field the bowling group made the most of the opportunity with a clinical display of bowling. Glenelg dismissed inside 44 overs for 59....Continue reading

A GRADE: Round 4 v Cove (Day 2). The Ramblers faced a good challenge this week needing to chase down a total of 240 to secure victory. In the end the lads rose to that challenge finishing the days play at 4/241 in the 71st over of the day. An extremely pleasing performance. The day belonged to Josh Rosman who s...Continue reading
12.01.2022 MATCHDAY MILESTONE brought to you by Coromandel Valley Bake Bakery LIFE MEMBERSHIP - 150 GAMES... This weekend Justin Calderbank will be playing his 150th game and in doing so will become the 37th Life Member of the club. CONGRATULATIONS! Justin, better know as JC would join the Ramblers at the beginning of season 2006/07 from Noarlunga Cricket Club, commencing in the A grade as a regular wicket taker with the ball with his slow bowling. The following season (2007/08) would see him appointed A Grade Captain, in which he would bring a culture to play a hard brand of cricket. He would captain the team for the next 4 seasons. Following a brief one season return back to Noarlunga for 2013/14, we would see JC return to the Ramblers A grade side for the 2014/15 season, before becoming a predominately B Grade regular ever since. At his time with the Ramblers he has amassed 2317 runs @ 18.8, with a highest score of 103 Vs Coromandel - A Grade 2007/08. Another notable performance with the bat was a match winning innings of 74 not out (off 90 balls) Vs North Haven - B grade 2018/19 He has claimed a total of 296 wickets @ 15.3, and has best bowling figures of 7/42 off 21 overs Vs Western Youth Centre - A Grade 2008/09. Other notable performances with the ball; 6/26 16.4 overs Vs Keswick - B Grade 2017/18 5/9 6.1 overs Vs South Road - B Grade 2018/19 5/18 7.4 overs VS South Road - A Grade 2011/12 He has taken '5 wickets or more' on x7 occasions. HAT-TRICKS *5/18 (7.4 overs) Vs South Road - A Grade 2011/12 *5/56 (8 overs) Vs Mitchell Park - B Grade 2018/19 TROPHIES * Won x3 A Grade bowling trophies. * Won x2 B Grade bowling trophies. * Won x1 B Grade batting trophy. Well done @Justin!
12.01.2022 Ramblers WIN SAMCA T20 Semi Final! After losing toss (again) Fabian Saunders & his team were sent into bat under a scorching Sunday afternoon sun. Things started shaky with Josh Rozzi Rosman run out cheaply in the first couple of overs. Laurence Borda joined our skipper at the crease and ground away for a great partnership before having to retire hurt on 35*, suffering from dehydration and heatstroke. ... Nick Work & Jarryd Simser had short cameos in the middle making 12 & 8 respectively before Matt Potts joined Fabian at the crease. Potts hit the only 6 for the day over square leg and the ramblers posted a total of 127. Saunders out for 43, Potts 17* As the cool change started to rear its very welcome head, Jacob Handke started the second innings with a wicket maiden! Ben Kanck took another and the home side was 2/6 early. Rademacher and Chipperfield began to build an innings together before Charlie Whitfeld entered the attack and took Chippers for 10. Rademaker was joined at the crease by Neville and they steadied the ship until Simister dismissed Neville for 18 caught behind by our star keeper Rosman, 4/54 (10 overs gone) Rademacher played a pivotal role in the home sides response to the set total, hitting a number fours and capitalising on some disappointing misfields to take him to 37. Saunders steamed in and took the key wicket Rademacher and the game was in the balance at 6/90 with 6 overs remaining. History will show only 6 more runs would be scored by the home side for their last 4 wickets, a runout to Potts and Work, along with another wicket to Simister and Charlie Whitfeld closed out the innings with a win to the ramblers! Thanks must go to the Happy Valley Cricket Club for a fantastic venue and another great game. The Ramblers are into the SAMCA Grand Final at Karen Rolton Oval on March 8th 2021, more details will follow.
