09.01.2022 Update : So after speaking with Marine Mammal Stranding Center the harp seal Corona that was here on Staten Island is now eating on his own and is looking for food , he is swimming around in the small tank and picking up fish . Tomorrow they will move him to a big pool where he can swim and dive witch will allow his body to build back up. Baby’s steps but they are doing all that they can to keep him alive and Rehabilitate him, he still has a lot of weight to gain before they can release him . They just released a adult harp seal on Monday that they had rehabilitated and weighed in at 300lbs You can also check there live feeds on there Facebook page @ marine mammal stranding center

07.01.2022 UPDATE ::: So I spoke with the great people at Marine mammal Stranding center in Brigantine NJ , Big Guy Corona is still there. Here is the update they sent me. He still won't eat at all, even tried live food, so we tube him with high calorie seal pup formula and he gets iv fluid and vitamin injections . He's starting to perk up as of yesterday, so we're hopeful that he'll start eating. ... Let’s hope this big guy pulls thru and can make a full recovery and live out the rest of his life as a fat happy seal !!! Right after I finished writing this update I got another text he just ate fish on his own I guess he knows we are thinking about him !!! Go Big Guy Corona

06.01.2022 Just got a text from the great people over at Marine Mammal Stranding Center the big guy couldn’t be moved yesterday due the fact of the calls into the center for seals they spent all day running up and down the coast checking on seals that were reported and also catering for the 8 seals they have in there center , also just so everyone knows the big guy is in that small pen because he is receiving multiple treatments everyday to help him with his issues and rebuild , they will attempt to get him in the big area sometime today as everyone knows he is not a small seal so it takes a few volunteers from there army of locals !! But he is holding in there and getting better !! Hang in there Big Guy !!!

01.01.2022 Hey everyone just got some info on Corona the Staten Island harp seal . So over the weekend the vet and eye surgeon had examined him and from there finding Corona is totally blind and he will not be able to be released back into the ocean so the search is on to find him a permanent home at a aquarium , It is beyond a major necessity for an aquarium to step up and take him in , Its technical on his actual ability to be an exhibit animal, NOAA Is watching this seal closely and... if the proper facility does not step up who knows what will be the future for him , it breaks our hearts to hear this news and to know he can not go back to his natural habitat , I would guess this is why he ended up on a dock at the marina . Nat geo is looking to do a story on this guy also Please share this post , send it to who you know , if any major aquarium is viewing this please reach out to Marine Mammal Stranding Center to deal with them directly regarding this harp seal. In all this bad times let’s try to do something good Thank you, Pk Staten Island Advance News 12 New Jersey National Geographic TV Nat Geo Wild ABC News Fox News Jersey Shore News NJ.com New Jersey 101.5
