25.01.2022 A small reminder to Members or others, that the Corowa Business House/Sports Clubs Fours, commences Wednesday 12th Feb at 7 pm. Invite somebody to put in a Team for the 4 week series of very social evenings

25.01.2022 Third week of the Business House/Sports Club Fours shows a pattern of emerging leaders. We were able amongst all the fun and clangs, to take a few pics of Wednesday night. First Mark amongst others, The Feds & Corowa Hotel and Jude with Corowa C&Decor. Dickens Engineering amongst others & Ken (lost the shot and his Lollies?). John amongst others & Corowa Flooring Xtra with others.

25.01.2022 The Business House/Sports Club Fours commences this Wednesday at 7 pm sharp. We have 19 Teams and would like to have it balanced at 20/22/24. Some of last years Teams have not committed so think about the great time had. Now the first piece of news was shown on Sunday when Karen & Brett of Corowa Flooring Xtra had a hit out in preparation for the event - seems K thinks it is their turn to win this event this year - a few sherbs later and the scribe was not sure what the impact of the practice was?

25.01.2022 We send congratulations to the Wodonga Bowling Club and their A1 Pennant Team for the great effort yesterday. The Corowa Civic Team had been on a roll for two Saturdays and hoped to grab this Title for 2020. Not to be, but well done to all, including the players who helped them get to the Final this year. Here is a happy snap prior to leaving Corowa.

22.01.2022 The Newmarket Hotel Open Triples is coming up. Consider entering a Team in this short/easy event, that can include non regular bowlers as casual dress is allowed.

20.01.2022 Bowlers back on deck allowed us to finally put up mug shots of the Mens Pairs - Well done to Col, Frank, John & Ian. Easter is coming up fast so get those entries in and look at the Notice Board for other events including the Club Triples, Newmarket Hotel Triples, Business House/Sports Club Fours and the Gwen Tait Laides Day.

19.01.2022 Lovely quiet social day yesterday. Hope all enjoyed the fun at bowls, lunch and the Reverse Draw. Plenty of empties were taken to the "Bottleo" this morning. Thanks to Corowa Flooring Xtra for the sponsored Raffle which was appreciated by at least the Winner/s. No photos were taken to avoid incriminations but a few kicked on later until dark in the vicinity of one well know "Drive".

17.01.2022 The Ladies Club Triples were played and finalized on Sunday under very trying, windy conditions. Two very close games played in the morning and an exciting finals in afternoon with great bowls being played by both teams. Congratulations to Sue Curtis, Jude Willett and Lynne Pyke winning the event Eileen Ide, Genise McFarlane and Maree Lewis runners up. Well done to both teams.

12.01.2022 Corowa Civic Bowls Club wishes to thank all our Visitors and Members for their support and, Best Wishes for Easter. Keep safe and lets look toward a future Easter Bowls Event. Located a couple of pics from Easter 2019, with Port Melbourne and City of Melbourne bowlers in the frame.... The Organisers are having a locked in holiday this year, not sure what Col is doing, but one is having that First Stubby at 10.30 am (Licencing!! at Home) to replicate Fridays Open Triples.

11.01.2022 Once again support for both midweek and weekend social bowls has been good with numbers in the 20s on both occasions. Midweek Winners: Lynton Ford, with Brian McCarthy & Graham Beel, Runners up: Graeme McIntosh, Annette Norman, and running 3rd: Ray McNulty with Sue Dawson. Weekend Winners: Alex Martin, Steve Kent and Sue Dawson. Runners Up: Peter King and Joan Wood, and running 3rd: Frank Hick , Jan Wandel-Webber and Brian Davies. ... The photos we took show how bare the clubroom looks without the company of our Victorian members. We look forward to playing with you all when you are able to join us. Sadly, for those members of the club who knew her, Elvie Dugdale passed away during last week. Elvie was very popular, a delightful cheeky character as well as a very good bowler. Condolences to her family.

11.01.2022 The Selectors are meeting today to pick the Teams for the Weekend Pennant Finals - Congratulations to all for making it and from the Club, GOOD bowls next Saturady.

11.01.2022 The weather was kind to us with a near perfect day for the Gwen Tait Triples tournament held on 11/3/02. 18 teams competed representing 13 clubs from the area & surrounds. It was a friendly day with some excellent bowls & a tight competition. Congratulations to all of the placegetters. Winners: Trish Tobin: Yackandandah/ Composite. (Pictured with Gwen Tait) Runners up: Merle Marklew:Wangaratta. Third place: Sue Middleton, YMGCR, & in a very tight finish for 4th, Maxine Bounader from Wodonga. On behalf of our club A big thank you to all of the ladies that came to support this event.

09.01.2022 The Ladies and Mens Club Triples commenced Sunday with nice conditions after all the depressing heat and smoke filled days. A few views of some participating, good luck to those heading into further Rounds, and congratulations to the Lady Winners, that being completed.

08.01.2022 Hi to all Members and others who follow Corowa Civic - sad to advise that "Robbo", ie John passed last night. Great bowls friend to us, Best wishes to Jan and, all the extended family, from the Club and all who passed his way.

08.01.2022 Today we held our first Social Bowls Competition for what seems to be a very long time. Only 9 people participated, but as it was a cold damp day it was a good ...result. Despite the weather it was an enjoyable afternoon, the winners were Sue Curtis & Brian McCarthy, playing as a pair. We will be holding Social Bowls every Saturday & Wednesday from now on, until further notice in these uncertain times. If you wish to play, please put your name down on the entry sheet in the tunnel, or call the office. Entries close at 12.30, play commences at 1.00 p.m. See more

08.01.2022 On site at YMGCRs Green which was in great order for play, we found a few pics to show Wodonga and Civic during play. Players studying the heads and John White wondering what all the cheering was for?, Peter Thelan in action, Dawn & Josh coming down to take a turn, Thomas Webb ready to direct and looking north.

07.01.2022 Round 8 Pennant Saturday 16/01/21

07.01.2022 THERE ARE NO BOWLS AT COROWA CIVIC _THIS POST IS WEEKS OLD. We regret to advise there will be no bowls at Civic for the immediate future. Roll-ups can be had on a designated green via the swimming pool side gate. The next events will come along as good as always !!

07.01.2022 Social bowls at our club has really taken off now. The weather is warming up, the greens are running beautifully and our members are showing their support for the club by participating. Last month, August, we had on both Wednesdays & Saturdays very good attendances with numbers on both days in the mid to high 20s. Today we had 36 players, It was a very competitive afternoon, with 12 teams of triples, but as always very sociable. It was a tie for the win, between Ian Bilney & Bruce Corcorans teams, with the runner up Ian Lewis & his team, 1 point the difference. Come on guys, next week lets make it 40 or more, in these difficult times your support is invaluable.

07.01.2022 The pennant practise match that was to be held at Rutherglen today, has been postponed until next Saturday 31st October. Please arrive at Rutherglen in good time for a 1.00 p.m. start. Our Club will have an impromptu practise roll up tomorrow Sunday, commencing at 1.00 p.m. Just choose a rink & join a team, all welcome.

07.01.2022 Weekend & Midweek Pennant Teams Round 2. 14th & 17th November . GOOD LUCK

07.01.2022 Here it is - the result of the Mens Singles Championship - Congratulations to Col Hendren in winning after being in a questionable position. Runner up Ian Lewis was doing a stirling job as from the 4th end he scored 10 of 11 ends to lead by up to 12 shots. Then suddenly Col who had lots of early good bowls, came in to score a few ends and suddenly it was 20 all.... The fight was on with Col coming out first to 25 with a margin of 3. Great game to mark and watch great draw shots, not 1 drive in about 30 ends! Pics of Col, Ian and with President Sue who was on hand to present the Medallion.

06.01.2022 The second evening of the Business House/Sports Club Fours was completed last night and was it cooler!! A selection of players/teams shows the efforts at bowls/keeping warm and for the Wahgunyah Football Team - abstinence as the boys are in training? EW & JH burning some snags, the Deputy Mayor and "Frizzer" representing The Feds, Apex Club, Meat on the Murray and Wahgunyah F/C players, Then TL of the Ball Park Rangers and others who can spot themselves.... DL got in the shot too with others wondering who was taking another selfie whilst juggling a Stubby and the Phone!

05.01.2022 Once again the Ovens & Murray Pennant Committee has had to make a difficult call, and has postponed the round 7 Midweek Pennant due to the forecast extreme weather conditions. This game will be played on the "catch up" day at the end of the season.

04.01.2022 The Business House/Sports Clubs Event has now been completed, albiet with a washout this Wednesday. The rain is more important and what a change ,it even affected our players attendances last night! although 50 plus can make a mess!! Thank you to all who played and had loads of fun. The first four on the Ladder were Howard Squires Funerals, Federation Council Team 2, Corowa Flooring Xtra and Border Natural Therapies to whom some prizes and certificates were presented at a li...ght bbq tea last night. Please support our local businesses who presented and, good luck to all novices in your bowls endeavours.

04.01.2022 Midweek Pennant closed today with 4 Finals at the Civic Club. We send Congratulations to all the Winners and Runners up for getting there through good bowls, comradeship and persistence. Whilst Scoreboard duties were carried out, a couple of good pics of the day rose into view -... Rob, Paul, Bob. Roger & other (Wodonga & Yarrawonga) in action on Green1, Kayleen & others (Mulwala/Corowa RSL and, Yackandandah/Yarrawonga) in action on Green 2

04.01.2022 Yesterdays Pennant Finals brought a mixed bag of emotions to Civic as the Teams were going well until afternoon tea? At Wodonga Bowls Club we watched Wangaratta Bowls Club get away to a good start and Frank/Len watched in anticipation, Adrian and Steve were on the opposite sides of the scoreboard, Tom with Ian ( Wangaratta burning at the time), Rob and Col trying for a shot and, Danny with style - well done to the A1s for rising to the top as the scribe travelled to Wangarat...ta. At Wangaratta one arrived to see the B2s in the lead with one rink struggling to get their shots up. Frank, Annette and Ray were in play here, taking the moment in. The visit must have an immediate affect as the game turned and, YMGCR got their game and backing up into the fore. Perhaps the scribe should have stayed away? Well done to all including the B3s who just went down at the Myrtleford venue.

03.01.2022 Business House-Sportsclub Fours evening last night saw lots of fun and surprises. On the first night we can report that the Apex Club of Corowa Team let it be known at close that they were stiff but lost both games, that all was well on Green 1, that players from the Bilney Builders & Border Therapies Teams were concentrating on their stubbies with some play in the background and, Federation Council & others plus the two venerable bowlers at the outside slops stop (sorry Bar?). Best effort for the night was the old Woolies trolley holding empties slowly run down the pavers and fall onto Green 2 - not much smashed, but they swept the grass by hand of any glass shards, so that Mr Mills would not cut himself in some way!

03.01.2022 We hosted the Midweek Pennant Preliminary Finals yesterday in good conditions. Civic gives its Congratulations to Wodonga Bowls Club, Club Mulwala Bowling Club and Yarrawonga Bowls Club for making the Grand Finals. And what exciting finishes, especially Wodonga on the last end by 1 shot and also Club Mulwala by 1 shot!... Couple of pics to show we and a few characters were present - Paul Davies wondering what to do with Ann Miles on Green 1 late in their game, Kay Smith after getting a 7 on one end to put Club Mulwala in front and other players on Green 2 and, Maxine Bounader on Green 2 giving her usual whoo whoo! after a shot.

03.01.2022 Midweek Pennant Teams Round 7. Good Luck!

02.01.2022 A great afternoon for two Civic Teams - Congratulations to the A1 & B2s for winning and into next week. Couple of pics from today - at Border Golf, Skips Thomas & Peter, the styles of Wayne & Peter against Benalla, then down the road at Mulwala to see Dennis & Frank, the disappointment of Skip Ray against Corowa RSL. The B3s tried but could not get over Wodonga, at least you were there - another chance though after finishing second.
