17.01.2022 I also believe that riots are happening for a reason. I believe that the silent and peaceful protests werent heard. They werent listened to. I believe that ...there is a huge systematic racism issue in the country and there always has been. I believe that America is great but only for certain people. I believe that we need to make the world better for the people who are crying out. They wouldnt be crying out if there wasnt an issue. We wouldnt see protests and riots spark up in many American cities if this was a localized and random issue. Who knows what itll take but at least some of yall are listening now.

13.01.2022 One of the best ways to maintain good gut health is to consume a diet packed with plant based foods (aim for 30 serves per day!) with plenty of vegetables. I always recommend to my patients that they eat a rainbow of veg and include 6 - 8 serves EVERY day. And if youre wondering, a serve = 1 cup raw + 1/2 cup cooked veg

12.01.2022 Be careful which tea bags you are using - many leach micro plastics into the hot water. I always go with unbleached, paper and organic. Better still, use loose leaf as there is far less waste created and the leaves are completely compostable

12.01.2022 A bit of weekend baking anyone? HEALTHY WALNUT & OLIVE OIL CAKE Ingredients: cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for greasing... 2 cups almond flour cup Swerve 2 teaspoons baking powder teaspoon ground cinnamon teaspoon ground nutmeg teaspoon ground ginger teaspoon ground allspice teaspoon ground cloves teaspoon freshly ground black pepper teaspoon sea salt 2 large omega-3 eggs cup coconut milk teaspoon vanilla extract teaspoon almond extract 1 cup chopped toasted walnuts Coconut whipped cream, for serving Method: Grease a 7-inch oven-safe dish such as a cake tin or souffle pan with olive oil. Line the bottom with parchment, and set aside. In the bottom of your Instant Pot, place the trivet and add 1 cup of water to the pot. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, Swerve, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, cloves, pepper, and salt. Add the eggs, oil, coconut milk, and the vanilla and almond extracts, and whisk until well combined. Fold in the walnuts. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and cover tightly with aluminum foil. Set the baking dish in the Instant Pot on top of the trivet. Cook on "cake" setting, then allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 to 20 minutes. Carefully remove the pan from the pot, and let cool to room temperature. Serve with the coconut whipped cream. Recipe excerpted from Plant Paradox Family Cookbook by Steven R. Gundry. See more

04.01.2022 Practising gratitude literally re-wires your brain by creating new neural pathways. Something Ive done for many years is thinking about the best things that happened in my day as Im going to sleep. Its a really great way to tip your mind into the positive and stop any negative thought patterns sneaking in. A simple way to get your kids becoming accustomed to think this way is by asking them about the best thing in their day when chatting at the dinner table. Id love to hear how you practice gratitude too

03.01.2022 If you’re feeling a bit more stressed at the moment and holding a bit more tension actoss your shoulders (I know now I am!), here’s some gentle exercises for you to help loosen your shoulders up

02.01.2022 Its freeeezing in Melbourne today and just perfect for soup making (and eating!) Todays batch is made with slow cooked bone broth, chicken, pumpkin, silverbee...t, celery, carrot, zucchini, broccoli, onion and garlic. Essentially I just fry up the onion and ginger, add the remainder of ingredient, cover it with water and simmer for a few hours. Soup is my favourite staple over winter and for so many reasons, not just because it tastes delicious. Heres why; * Soup is a fabulous way to reduce your #foodwaste Throw in your old veggies along with all your left over stalks of broccoli etc. * Its also a great way to ensure your nose to tail eating. Use the bones from your roast chook to make the stock and use up any left over chicken. * Home made bone broth is full of gut healing, immune stimulating nutrients like collagen and glucosamine (also fabulous for your skin) - #foodasmedicine at its very best * Soup is one of the easiest ways I know to make sure you reach the 8 serves of vegetables daily needed for optimal health. Varying then at every batch will support your gut microbiome even more. * Soup is REALLY easy to make. Not much I love more than simple, one pot cooking! * Soup is great for bulk cooking. You can freeze it, take it to work to work in a thermos for lunch or warm it up when you get home from work for a quick, easy, nourishing dinner.
