24.01.2022 Claims for workplace psychological injuries are climbing 15 times faster than physical injuries in NSW. Yet 1 in 5 businesses only have a basic awareness of psychological risks in the workplace. Creating a mentally healthy workplace includes promoting positive cultures, supporting employees who are unwell as well as reducing the psychological risks and hazards, such as bullying/harassment, high workload, lack of autonomy or recognition. #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing

22.01.2022 In our workplaces, we have a responsibility to provide support to our employees. Especially, with more than 2/3 of people claiming their mental health has worsened since the outbreak of COVID-19. Is your workplace ready for Mental health Month in October? I have a range of mental wellbeing topics available to suit your corporate culture. #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing

22.01.2022 Anyone else too scared to ask R U OK in case the person says no? I felt this way for a really long time. Until someone told me it was not my job to fix it. The most important thing I need to do is listen and encourage them to take action or seek support. For me, it's all about empowering the person to own their journey and be the support person to point them in the right direction and check-in. #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing #ruokeveryday

21.01.2022 Thrilled to be partnering with Capital Chemist Bowral in our employee Wellbeing program. We kicked off this week with a Healthy Eating virtual event, fruit box and healthy snacks on-site. Goal #1 - eat 5 serves of veg per day. Thanks to Highlands Fresh and Snack Proud. Really looking forward to starting this Wellbeing journey for a team who are constantly looking after the wellbeing of our community. A special thanks to Catherine Yee, Dickson Yan and Emily Glennon. #nutritionist #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing

20.01.2022 We all know exercise is good for our bodies but what about our minds? This study shows engaging in a program of regular exercise of moderate intensity over six months or a year is associated with an increase in the volume of selected brain regions. Moving on a daily basis is key to good physical & mental wellbeing. #mentalhealthadvocate #nutritionist #corporatewellbeing https://www.health.harvard.edu//exercise-can-boost-your-me

20.01.2022 I give my kids permission to take mental health days. In fact we all took one a few weeks ago. Kids were sick and couldn't attend school, I had an enormous day scheduled at work and went into a small panic at 7am. Until I realised this was my opportunity to look after our selfcare. So I took carers leave, turned on my 'out of office' and spent the day with my family. We ate home cooked food, lay in the sunshine, watched a movie and I had an afternoon nap! I highly recommend it! #selfcare #mentalhealthadvocate #parentingteens https://www.ted.com//hailey_hardcastle_why_students_should

20.01.2022 Who is joining me for 30 days of Yoga? This has become a yearly Jan ritual for me at Yoga With Adriene. It’s the best way to start a new year. #ywabreath

20.01.2022 Highly nutrient rich foods such as these superfoods give us so many benefits. Increased energy and immunity, better focus and concentration. These antioxidant, vitamin & mineral packed foods help reduce many illnesses, both physical and mental. Try snacking on these foods by swapping out high sugar or processed snacks. #nutritionist #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing https://www.health.harvard.edu//10-superfoods-to-boost-a-h

19.01.2022 Thank you to Gembridge for partnering with me on the Wellbeing series for leaders of the not-for-profit sector. I presented 3 Wellbeing webinars providing support and tips for physical and mental wellbeing. If we can recognise our responses, we can protect ourselves from burnout with selfcare strategies. It's useful to plan out each week with our boundaries (& tech rules!) in place. Looking after ourselves so we can look after others. #selfcare #corporatewellbeing #mentalhealthadvocate

19.01.2022 The key to kids acceptance of veg is exposure. Keep serving up vegies every night, even when they say they don't like it and won't eat it. Kids need to try a new foods up to ten times before accepting it. Taste buds change over time and food they once hated, one day they will eat. #nutritionist #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing

18.01.2022 "I don't want to feel like this inside my head, I just want to be a normal kid." R U OK? at home for me is about parenting a child who lives with anxiety. Who needs to be asked R U OK everyday, multiple times a day, reminded of strategies, supported with good food, plenty of sleep and exercise, be loved, be cuddled, be listened to and sometimes needs space. R U OK is for adults, it's for all our kids and our community. #mentalhealthadvocate #RUOKEveryDay https://www.ruok.org.au/community

18.01.2022 In the not-for-profit sector, a poll conducted in my Wellbeing series gave us insights into work after the pandemic. 80% of our attendees indicated they would like to continue with a hybrid mix of set days in the workplace and at home. Grateful for the flexibility to be able to work from home and hopeful that everyone can find a new work life balance after the pandemic. Thanks to Gembridge for the partnership. #mentalhealthadvocate #nutritionist #corporatewellbeing

15.01.2022 The phone call I received last year from a work mate saying he had a gut feeling about one of our peers, something doesn't seem right, changed a life. They were right. Our peer was not OK. He finally answered the phone from the park outside our office and was just not coping. I listened to all of his concerns and he felt a bit less overwhelmed by just getting it off his chest. I asked about his support network and he had a friend he could call and a GP he trusted. We talked r...egularly after that, just quick check-ins to see how he was doing. The R U OK steps changed a life that day. Read the resources below so you are always ready for the R U OK? conversation. R U OK is for our workplace, our homes and our community. #mentalhealthadvocate #ruokeveryday https://www.ruok.org.au/work

14.01.2022 Every day we need to do one thing for our mental health. I am collecting personal stories from right across our community to show how 2020 has been for you and what has helped you through it. If you have a few short minutes and want to help support mental health in our community, please message me and I can tell you more. Thank you to the volunteers who have contributed to this already. 12.01.2022 In giving a lecture last week to Masters Psychology students at Deakin Uni, I have realised that is not just about my studies but also my life experience. My Nutrition and mental health studies have provided evidence and integrity to my content but the life experience is what adds so much value. Here is my story of how I re-wrote my life. #selfcare #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing https://www.linkedin.com//why-did-i-start-my-business-car/

11.01.2022 Lessons from the Workplace Wellness Festival this week: 1) Hope is so important. We will get through this. 2) Connecting with like minded people has been so uplifting during this virtual forum. (I made more connections than I probably would have face to face).... 3) Sharing our stories can be a great inspiration to others. So many great tips that I will be bringing into my own life. Along with a deep sense of satisfaction to be able to help other corporates implement mental health strategy into their workplace. I invite you to connect with me to collaborate, seek support or just have a chat. #corporatewellbeing #mentalhealthadvocate #nutritionist #workplacewellnessfestival

10.01.2022 Happy to share our R U OK webinar from 10th Sept 2020. 10.01.2022 Honoured to be partnering with Goulburn Mulwaree Council on Wellbeing. 'Presenting on Building resilience during a crisis' and 'Coping with Stress.' The employees and the leadership team have been engaged and open to having authentic conversations to help support each other. Delivering unique selfcare strategies for Wellbeing action plans. #corporatewellbeing #mentalhealthadvocate #physicalhealth

09.01.2022 How does eating more probiotics, like fermented vegies, kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, miso & yoghurt improve our mood? Our gut brain axis is a bidirectional communication channel. So, not only what we think and feel affects our gut but also what we eat affects our mood and our mental wellbeing. Improving the good bacteria in our gut (our microbiome) helps to boost our minds as well. #mentalhealthadvocate #nutritionist #corporatewellbeing

08.01.2022 I'm smiling today after being so inspired by the speakers at the Workplace Wellness Festival yesterday. My main take-away was finding hope, even during a crisis. We will get through this. We may even see some positives. Hoping for improvements in our mental health care system. Already seeing a boost in connections of teams at work. I'm getting much better at living in the moment. (very hard for a type A personality with no patience!) Try smiling today to boost your positivity. #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing #workplacewellnessfestival https://www.sciencedaily.com/releas/2020//200813123608.htm

08.01.2022 This photo is from World Mental Health Day 2019, wearing my mental health first aid lanyard, encouraging employees to speak up about their mental health. What is your workplace doing this year for Mental Health Month in October? #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing

08.01.2022 My sharing of my own personal use of the EAP is my most powerful tool. I’ve used it for personal issues & also as a manager to help better support a team member. In my Wellbeing lead role, I typically bypass the intranet saga by texting employees the EAP phone number along with this text: Save this to your contacts, in case you or anyone you care about ever needs support in the future. #corporatewellbeing #mentalhealthadvocate

08.01.2022 Research shows that just 30 minutes of movement everyday boosts endorphins and overall mood levels. Taking the time to be active is extremely important for stress reduction and has also been proven to increase memory and productivity. #selfcare #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing

06.01.2022 So pleased to see funding into a review of the Australian Dietary Guidelines. Looking forward to seeing the research from this. Hoping to see some positive changes to make it easier for all of us to make healthier decisions when food shopping. #corporatewellbeing #nutritionist #mentalhealthadvocate

05.01.2022 Women in Leadership series Wellbeing session is on today. I am looking forward to presenting to the CIO Executive Council ANZ, encouraging executives to prioritize their own Wellbeing. We will be discussing self-care strategies to help build resilience as well as burnout prevention techniques. #mentalhealthadvocate #nutritionist #corporatewellbeing

04.01.2022 Who's supporting the supporters in your workplace? Check-in on your HR team. I can tell you from the shoes of a Wellbeing lead and a crisis management team member, it is exhausting. Selfcare needs to be boosted big time to balance the workload. #corporatewellbeing #mentalhealthadvocate #selfcare

03.01.2022 I could not agree more with this suggestion. Yes, we are all going through this together, but we must let each other know with our actions. Everyone's going through their own journey this year. Some are thriving, some are struggling. Making the effort to connect with each other, listening and checking in is something we can all make a big effort with this week. #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing #ruokday

03.01.2022 The #giftofconversation. Taking the focus away from the materialistic side of Chrissy. Staying safe, caring for each other, being well. Putting it all in perspective this year. #mentalhealthadvocate #ruokeveryday

02.01.2022 I am looking forward to speaking at the Workplace Wellness Festival this week. Ill be sharing my experience of implementing the mental health strategy from the ground up at Johnson & Johnson. So grateful that we committed to this a few years ago. We are now supporting employees mental health through a range of customized services that are in high demand this year. #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing

02.01.2022 Tip #1 from Professor Maree Teeson - "It's OK to feel overwhelmed sometimes and have a little cry." This week I have had an "it's OK to cry" conversation with a few people. It is not a weakness. It's a great way to release our emotions and help accept our feelings. We often feel better afterwards. #selfcare #mentalhealthadvocate #corporatewellbeing https://www.linkedin.com//national-mental-health-commissio

02.01.2022 Do you have plans in place for your workplace next week? RUOK? have plenty of free resources to utilise. 01.01.2022 A great mate is honest with you. They’ll check up on you, have your back and be there even before you realise you need them. Worth a quick read. 10 green flags that make someone a great mate. Some good reminders in here for all of us. #mentalhealthadvocate
