25.01.2022 ACC ISP ATHLETICS CARNIVAL On Friday 11 September all students from our Education Support Centre represented the College in the ACC ISP Athletics Carnival. Students participated in a variety of events and it was great to see everyone having a go. All students should be very proud of themselves for their amazing efforts, awesome attitudes and for demonstrating great sportsmanship towards their fellow competitors. ... Well done all!



25.01.2022 PLASMA CUTTER A special thank you to the P&F committee for the allocation of funding to support the purchase of a plasma cutting machine and related components. We can't wait to see what creations come out of the Design and Technology area with this new addition! The machine has a plasma torch which is used to cut materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper and other conductive metals. With the addition of the plasma cutter, students can now use industry software to develop and design projects in a range of metals. The plasma cutter will efficiently and precisely cut the components as stand-alone items or as part of bigger projects they have designed.

22.01.2022 ROMERO PATRON DAY Today the College celebrated Romero Patron Day in honour of their Patron Saint, Archbishop Oscar Romero. 20.01.2022 CORPUS PODCAST LAUNCHES This semester we introduced a podcast club, with members busy working behind the scenes to launch CorpusArtCast, a new and exciting podcast produced and edited on site. The podcast is hosted by Year 10 student Declan Cooper and offers monthly insights into the Arts programs at the College, including interviews, documentaries, news and performances. ... 19.01.2022 DANCE OPEN EVENING Last night we exhibited the talents of some of our fantastic College curriculum and co-curricular Dance groups at an intimate show in the Caroline Payne Theatre. Well done to all involved for a great effort and entertaining evening!

19.01.2022 GLOBAL GOALS CHALLENGE Nine Middle School students in the Academic Excellence Program recently took part in the Global Goals Challenge a United Nations initiative promoting sustainable development. The Challenge focused on the 17 Global Goals, which include climate action, gender equality, ending poverty and world hunger, and clean water for all. After taking part in several activities, students were placed into groups to research one of the Global Goals and devise an in...novative and practical pathway to success. Well done to all these students for the impressive way in which they collaborated and presented their ideas with poise and clarity.



19.01.2022 ANGELICO ART EXHIBITION This year the Angelico Art Exhibition received more than 300 visual arts entries from students across 48 CEWA schools. We are pleased to share that three of our talented students placed in their respective categories: Year 7-10, 1st Prize 2 Dimensional:... 'Rising Mind' by Year 10 Isabella Cross. Year 11-12, 1st Prize 2 Dimensional: 'Separation Of Self' by Year 12 Siobhan Stevens. Year 11-12, 3rd Prize Overall: 'Catastrophe' by Year 11 Christabelle Kusnowirjono. 16.01.2022 YEAR 10 COMPASS RETREAT The Year 10 Retreat held on Wednesday and Thursday was focused on the concept of the compass, which guides travellers to orient themselves and find their way. The aim was to allow students to orient themselves towards God and his commandment to love thy neighbour, by providing them with opportunities to reflect on this concept and giving them practical ways to live this out in their lives.

16.01.2022 Last week over three nights, the College celebrated the 2020 Arts Festival, which showcased the best of our Year 12 final works. The Festival opened with the Visual Art exhibition and Year 12 Dance Perspectives, continued with the Music students' final Compositions, and closed with the Year 12 Drama Monologues and Solo Performances. The performances and exhibition were a valuable opportunity for students to gain feedback and demonstrate their talents in an open forum. We congratulate all of our Year 12 performers and artists for rising to the occasion and also thank our community for their enthusiastic attendance.

11.01.2022 MATHS CLUB The Maths Club has been running a Maths Competition for Years 7-9 on Wednesdays at lunchtime. Each week a new task is set for teams to complete before the next week, with great prizes to be won! New members are always welcome, so for those interested in competing, head down to S03 at lunch tomorrow!

11.01.2022 ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE PROGRAM - The Games Guy Incursion Year 7-10 students in the Academic Excellence Program recently participated in collaborative problem-solving challenges created by Dr. Andy Kirker, 'The Games Guy'. The themes of these games are based on real-world issues and dilemmas in cultural, diplomatically and economic spheres. A fantastic time was had by all and it was wonderful to see the students so engaged in developing their higher order thinking skills!

09.01.2022 YEAR 7 STEM The Year 7 STEM project took place last week, with students working in teams to build a tower in their timetabled classes for Mathematics, Science and Technology. The challenge was to build the tallest tower that supported the heaviest mass, using just two newspapers and a roll of masking tape. After a busy and productive week, students took part in the final testing on Friday afternoon. Towers were lined up and tested to see if they could support 2kg, bef...ore being measured for height to determine the winning tower. Congratulations to all of the towers that didnt buckle under the pressure! Our winning and honourable mention teams are pictured with their designs. 07.01.2022 YEAR 8 CAMP The Year 8 Camp was held this week at the Swan Valley Adventure Centre. The overnight camp provides students with the opportunity to enhance their resilience, teamwork and leadership, while developing relationships in ways different from, but complementary to those of the classroom and school environment.... Students rotated through activities over the two days including a liturgy, commando course, kite building, pool games, catapult building and a variety of team building games.

06.01.2022 COLLEGE ASSEMBLY Yesterday morning we gathered for Middle School and Senior School Assemblies to hear the latest updates on life at the College and to celebrate the recent achievements of our students. In celebration of our Inter-house Athletics Carnival in Week 4, the shield was presented to the Chisholm House captains and the individual record breakers and champions were announced. 06.01.2022 CLASS FEATURE: Year 10 Outdoor Education This term Year 10 ODE students have been completing a rock climbing program, using the rock climbing facilities at the College. Their knowledge and skills were put to the test last week with an abseiling and rock climbing session at Boya and Stathams Quarry. Well done to these students for scaling new heights!

06.01.2022 ROMERO PATRON DAY Tomorrow is Romero Day! Romero student are encouraged to come in their House uniform as we celebrate the life of Saint Oscar Romero and raise money for their House charity in El Salvador. Romero students will start the day with a House liturgy and then run food and drink stalls at recess and lunch for their fundraising. ... 05.01.2022 SASJ GIRLS SOCCER Congratulations to the undefeated SASJ girls soccer team! They have had an outstanding season, which included a 4-1 win last week. Well done to all the girls involved and their wonderful student and staff coaches!

05.01.2022 THREATENED SPECIES BAKE OFF On Monday a number of students and staff competed in the National Threatened Species Bake Off. With this year's competition taking on a local focus, it provided an opportunity for students to research and celebrate the threatened species found in our Australian environment. The entrants showcased practical baking skills and artistic design talent in each of the creations. The overall winner was awarded to Year 10 student Georgia Waddy for ...her Carnabys Cockatoo cake. The runner-up was Jasmyn Maney in Year 8, who showcased a number of threatened marine species with her cupcakes. Their entries will be entered into the national competition. Thank you to everyone for your participation and amazing entries!

05.01.2022 2021 STUDENT LEADERS During our final year group masses for 2020, our newly elected Student Leaders for 2021 received their badges and a blessing before pledging their commitment. Congratulations to all those who have been given a role for this year and thank you to those who had the courage to nominate. We look forward to seeing what 2021 brings with this exciting new team!

It was a fantastic opportunity for the Year 11s to get dressed up, share a meal and connect with their peers.... 02.01.2022 COLLEGE ASSEMBLIES This morning we gathered for our final assemblies for Term 3. At the Senior School assembly, we had the official badges presentation from our 2020 Prefects to our newest Prefect Team for 2021. There were also many awards for excellence presented including College Colours and Service Awards, Arts Festival Awards and Endeavour Awards.... At the Middle School Assembly the Endeavour Awards were also presented. These awards are given to a student from each class who has shown outstanding effort over the term, consistent application in class, positive cooperation and thorough completion of homework and assignment tasks. Well done to all award recipients and the students who performed and presented today.

01.01.2022 HEAD BOY AND HEAD GIRL FOR 2021 ANNOUNCED The College is pleased to announce Sanjeev Singh (Salvado House) and Leah Nigli (de Vialar House) as our Head Boy and Head Girl for 2021. The two students were chosen from a strong field of Year 11 nominees all of whom gave inspiring speeches last week on how they'd like to give back to the College that has been so integral to their development. We wish Sanjeev and Leah all the best as they transition into their new roles. The remainder of the Prefect Team for 2021 will be announced at the College Assembly next Thursday 24 September.

01.01.2022 CLASS FEATURE: Year 11 Biology Year 11 Biology students recently attended an overnight camp at Perth Hills Discovery Centre in Mundaring. Students earned their night's stay by participating in a one hour clean-up of the campsite which included weeding, dismantling structures and collecting bark. They took part in a capture and release exercise with the aim to trap some animals for analysis as part of a project ran by Western Shield to protect our local flora and fauna. They also went on a night walk and used a technique called spotlighting to view possums and kangaroos.
