11.01.2022 Today was the first of what we hope will be of many successful Positional Days for our women rugby league players/coaches here in the Illawarra. The day was the result of a lot of hard work and effort with the focus on developing local players and coaches to support and grow the local Illawarra women’s competition. Todays sessions gave our players/coaches an opportunity to focus on specific drills in each position within the team. Session 1 included hookers and middles and ...Session 2 included halves and backs. Working on key specific areas that would develop them to be a smarter player/coach, identifying and using each opportunity on the field to its full potential. We had some special guests from the Illawarra Dragons womens team Jade Etherdan and Shakiah Tungai who shared a few encouraging and inspiring words to our young ladies, as well as helped them refine their skills and techniques. Massive thanks to Andrew Patmore (NSW Wowens Rugby League Head Coach), Daniel Lacey (Illawarra Dragons Womens & Illawarra Steelers Head Coach) for taking time to come down and work with our girls, you’re knowledge and experience is so very beneficial for the growth of the women’s game. Also a massive thank you to our very own Alicia Hawke (Illawarra Steelers Tasha Gale Head Coach, St George Illawarra NRLW assistant Coach and Corrimal Cougars Womens Head Coach/Player) for not only working with the girls but also putting together this informative and beneficial day together and providing opportunities, not only for our players and coaches in the local area, but also to help grow and better Women’s Rugby League! #samegameourway #howgoodsfooty #womeninleague Illawarra Division Rugby League

01.01.2022 With the resignation of club President Dave Adams, Corrimal Cougars mark the close of a significant period in the club’s history. Dave, as the club’s longest serving president has been instrumental in the assurance of the Cougars existence over the bulk of the last decade. With the collapse of the Leagues club, the Cougars had to evolve into a community based, self funded club. This meant doing the little things regarding fund raising such as Bunnings BBQs and raffles at Cor...rimal Hotel. Through Dave’s concerted efforts sponsors of all types have been welcomed in to the fold when their respective businesses have been able to assist. Quite a few sponsors have offered in kind services as opposed to cash support as the need arose. Such needs have been more frequent with the successful application of several grants from federal, state and local governments. Infrastructure improvements have been one of the highlights of Dave’s presidency, the newly christened Vince Daskey Pavillion, the boundary fencing including the John Banning Gate, the two awnings, the recently installed new amenities building and the almost completed players shelters stand out as key examples. Most of these improvements have been enabled by close political contacts and well drafted grant applications. Internal club recognition of these efforts include life membership and two club person of the year awards during Dave’s presidency. The Illawarra Division also recognised Dave’s invaluable support by awarding him life membership. Development has also been a hallmark of Dave’s presidency. Our highly successful Women’s teams and recent junior to senior programs are a credit to this, Dave’s strong support at a league and local level has been a key factor to this success. Corrimal Cougars will go on without Dave, but there are very large boots to fill, hopefully the new committee, community and supporters will continue to strive for a strong and vibrant senior football club. Yours in Rugby League, Adam Giddings CRLFC Inc Secretary
