16.01.2022 Corroboree coach Ruud van Scheppingen was a fine athlete himself (recording PB times of 10.61 for the 100m, 21.42 for the 200m, 47.39 for the 400m, 7.25m for th...e Long Jump, 13.60m for the Triple Jump and a Decathlon score just under 6000 points), before turning his hand to coaching. He coaches all athletics events except for long distance running and loves Little Athletics for the variety of events you can have a go at, and no matter what your body shape, or your interests, that you can always find something that suits you. Ruud would like to encourage all Little Athletes to not worry about the current situation that is beyond their control, but just look forward to the start of the new season, remember the fun and the great results that you have achieved. Go outside and kick and throw a ball, jump on the trampoline, ride your bike, run around the block, go for a walk around the block, and just HAVE FUN! Away from the track Ruud enjoys camping (when he can take the time), and if he could invite 3 people for dinner he'd invite his parents and his brother who still reside in his home country, The Netherlands. Ruud is a man of many talents, including rock climbing, bus driving, and can speak Dutch, English and German! Ruud has played a huge part in the Little Athletics coaching programs this season, coaching at all the Holiday Skills Clinics days, taking on a coaching role for the U13-U15 Development Squad (and the extremely important roll of bus driver for the camp to Sydney), and was primed for another ALAC as head coach of the ACT team. Ruud is always super encouraging, and he has so much knowledge that he is always keen to share to young athletes. Thanks for everything you've done for us this season, Ruud.

15.01.2022 First cab off the ranks is Corroboree hurdler Gabi Dahms. Gabi has been doing Little Athletics for 8 years, starting in Under 6s and was lucky enough to captai...n the ACT School Sport U12 Team in 2019. Coached by Ruud van Scheppingen and Lachie Calvert, her athletics hero is the former Corroboree Little Athlete Lauren Boden. The thing she was most looking forward to about ALAC was being involved in a fun, teams competition with friends, and aiming to get more PBs. Away from the track, Gabi plays both basketball and volleyball, and she is also quite involved in her art. Her favourite food is sushi, and she has also been involved in both the ACT Primary and Senior choirs. Gabi's main athletics goals going forward are to keep recording PBs and to still be doing Little Athletics when she is in U17s. Thanks Gabi for being such a competitive minded athlete and for always striving to achieve your best.

15.01.2022 The Board of Little Athletics Australia wishes to advise that the 2020 Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) has been cancelled due to the evolving s...ituation of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This decision aligns with the ACT Government's state of emergency advice regarding non-essential mass gatherings issued earlier this week. 11.01.2022 Another great meet in the bag. The perfect conditions helped the kids achieve their best with a massive 508 PBs this week. Results for Meet 5 are now available in ResultsHQ. This week we had a total of 227 athletes plus a club record! Having just finished entering results, can I remind AGCs to circle an athlete's best result in jumps (not just when it's a PB) as this makes it easier for us to enter them quickly (without too much mental arithmetic!). Also, for those entering times for the circle track, please include the milliseconds!

10.01.2022 Dear members and friends of the Little Athletics ACT Family, The Board of Little Athletics ACT has made the exceptionally difficult decision to postpone the sc...heduled competition for the 2020 People’s Choice State Championships to be held at the AIS on March 14 and 15. We have carefully reviewed the rapidly unfolding coronavirus situation in Australia and have been advised by Little Athletics Australia that no little athletics meets are to go ahead this Saturday and Sunday. The competition that was held tonight went ahead with the full advice of local health and government authorities. There are other States that have also taken the same precaution in cancelling or postponing their Championships. This is an extraordinarily hard decision, but the safety of our athletes, families, spectators, officials and volunteers is always our top priority. We would like to thank all the officials and volunteers for the extensive preparation and time they have put into these Championships. Selections for the ACT Team to attend the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) in April will proceed as scheduled. On behalf of the Board we would like to thank you all for your understanding and cooperation; not only today but also through the numerous unprecedented events our sport has endured this season. Warm regards, Little Athletics ACT Board of Management

06.01.2022 A quick reminder that our Come 'n Try day is on this morning from 10am until 12. Looking forward to seeing lots of new faces keen to find out what Little Athletics is all about!

06.01.2022 Last but definitely not least for our U17 athlete profiles is Michael De Simone, from Corroboree Little Athletics Centre. Michael De Simone has been a member o...f Corroboree Little Athletics since U14/ 2017. Michael has always had a passion for sprinting. He initially started athletics to have a break from basketball (2010-2017) but he loved athletics so much and has continued since. His interests include the 200m and 400m sprint. Some of Michael’s highlights so far have been attending Nationals, receiving Age-champ and Most-improved, receiving a club record for the 400m sprint, as well as continuing to break his personal bests. Michael has loved his journey through little athletics as it was a great way to kick start his athletic career. Michael will continue to strive to improve his results with his coach in the upcoming season. Well done Michael!

05.01.2022 Little Athletics Australia have directed all clubs to cancel any meets and social gatherings until further notice. Unfortunately this includes our Presentation Day and AGM scheduled for 5 April. This is disappointing on many levels but understandable given the current environment. Please see your email for more information on the latest information around awards. Send as a message via Facebook if you don't get the email for some reason.

05.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the closure of Stromlo Forest Park the 2020 ACT Cross Country Championships that was due to be held on Sunday 23rd August has been postponed. Further information will be available shortly on a revised plan.

04.01.2022 Some great results tonight at ACT Champs.

04.01.2022 Otis Jeong-Reuss is a Corroboree U13 athlete coached by Jess Bell, Ruud van Scheppingen, and his father Rainer Reuss. He specialises in javelin, discus and hurd...les and has been doing Little Athletics now for 8 years. Otis was looking forward to throwing the javelin in a major competition for the ACT at ALAC, and is looking forward to the improving his javelin and hurdles next season. He doesn't have any pre competition superstitions as he loves a rational universe! Outside of athletics Otis plays soccer, plays the clarinet and making cakes, playing boardgames, as well as closely following the Tottenham Hotspurs in the English Premier League. Otis always has a positive attitude towards Little Athletics and is even quoted as saying "it's all about fun, be nice to each other and support everyone." Congratulations on a great season Otis, and we are excited to see what the next season has in store for you.

04.01.2022 At Corroboree we always push the idea to the athletes that being the best you can be every week is what is important. 04.01.2022 Garry Stevens only arrived at Corroboree Little Athletics Centre in 2016/17 and was quickly thrust into positions of importance, and soon become the club presid...ent, a position he currently holds. Season 2019/20 has been a very special year in the history of the Corroboree Centre, with the Corroboree Gift and the 50th anniversary celebrations key pillars to the overall success. Garry played a huge role in ensuring that both events lived up to and exceeded expectations. The amount of work that he did in the background contributed directly to two of the best days of athletics that this club has seen in a long time! This is only tip of the iceberg when it comes to Garry's contribution over the last 12 months. Continual improvements to the program, the introduction of the 'Bacchus Best', writing weekly newsletters and many other duties too numerous to keep track of! Garry is someone all clubs need, but rarely have. He is passionate and enthusiastic, and nothing ever seems too much trouble for him. Corroboree Little Athletics

01.01.2022 Next up we have Ethan Laver from Corroboree Little Athletics Centre. Ethan commenced in the U6 age group for the 20082009 season and has attended every season ...since. His favourite events have been sprinting, hurdles, and jumps. Some of his achievements at Corroboree include; Club Champion, Age group champion, Multi event winner, Club records (hurdles), and Club Captain. Ethan has enjoyed many long-term friendships through his time with Corroboree and Little Athletics. He also enjoyed helping coach the younger kids at weekly training. We hope he continues to enjoy athletics for many years to come! Well done Ethan, we also hope that you continue to enjoy your athletics for the rest of your life!
