18.01.2022 My Emergency Doctor My Emergency Doctor is a specialised Emergency Medicine Telehealth Service that complements our GPs working in Urgent Care through providing out of hours support on weekdays and on weekends when GPs are not on call. Prior to March 2020, Corryong Health was using Telehealth with Albury Wodonga Health, this meant patients at our Urgent Care Centre were managed within Alburys Emergency Department wait list. During busy times in Albury, there could be a sig...nificant wait which at times resulted in early transfer. A combination of this and feedback from our community led us to trial and successfully implement My Emergency Doctor. Since Corryong Health began using this service in March 2020 we have seen a significant drop in transfers to Albury Wodonga. Staff and clients are reporting that the new process has been extremely efficient and effective. The key improvements are a Doctor assigned purely to answering our calls, complemented with new Ipads, and improved Wifi at Corryong Health. We spoke to Ross Miller who recently used My Emergency Doctor as part of his Urgent Care presentation. Ross explained that the system all worked really well, the nurse explained My Emergency Doctor to him and set him up immediately with a Doctor for a review. Ross stated that although this process was new, the nurse was there to support me and the Doctor was able to answer everything I needed to know, and the nurse stayed on hand to assist where needed. Ross believed My Emergency Doctor was the next best thing to being seen by a Doctor and prevented him from being sent to Albury. Ross said that My Emergency Doctor was a solution to one of the disadvantages of living in our small community and that we all need to make the most of the situation.
