07.01.2022 Today, we gather with our family and friends, give and receive gifts, eat to our heart’s desire and finally get a break from the exhausting festivities of the season. In all the busyness, have you ever paused to think about it? What's the point of all the Christmas celebrations? Why do we make such a big deal about presents and food and decorations every 25th of December? Maybe you've never properly heard the true story of Christmas. Or maybe it's laying there somewhere in th...e back of your mind, lost in the midst of the more festive parts of the season. But the reality, the truth to the reason for the season, is so much greater. Every perfectly-wrapped gift, decadent food or alluring light should pale in comparison. Christmas is the day we celebrate the ultimate gift to humanity and the incomparable display of love. This is the day when God Himself came down to bring this broken world ultimate salvation, unshakeable hope, and everlasting peace. This great gift can never be forgotten or pushed aside. The baby laying in the manger in every nativity scene should draw all our attention, fill our hearts with gratitude and pour out of us in worship. When we come to grasp the miracle of Christmas Day, the joy we experience becomes not only the pinnacle of the celebrations, but the centre of our lives.
