25.01.2022 Victorian Stage 4 Business Restrictions 18th August 2020 The following advice is from the Victorian Health Complaints Commissioner:... The Victorian Government has implemented restrictions to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Pursuant to these restrictions, certain business must not trade. On 5 August 2020, the State Government introduced Stage 4 restrictions for businesses located in metropolitan Melbourne. Under the Restricted Activity Directions (Restricted Areas) (No 6), all businesses providing cosmetic treatment services are prohibited from operating until Stage 4 Restrictions are eased. 22.01.2022 Facial modification apps based on filters are widely available, and Instagram is the new social glue connecting global communities. But the lines are becoming blurred and the posts seen daily on these platforms often dont represent reality. The Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA) is seeing more and more patients experiencing a distorted sense of self with unrealistic expectations, especially when it comes to cosmetic enhancement results. In response to this and... the trivialisation of cosmetic procedures, the CPCA has launched a new campaign called Get Real. 21.01.2022 As a patient, how can you safeguard yourself against the risks that cosmetic procedures pose? Cosmetic medicine, like all other areas of medicine, carries some risk, and rarely these risks, even in the best hands, can just happen. Cosmetic physicians are trained to manage these situations, to administer medications should an emergency arise, and have the protocols in place to refer patients to specialists where necessary, as quickly as possible. Before going ahead with a proc...edure, it is vital to know what experience the practitioner has, and if they have the knowledge and skills to firstly prevent, or secondly manage, any complications. By choosing a CPCA certified doctor, the hard work is already done for you: https://cpca.net.au/find-a-doctor/

17.01.2022 If you are booking an injectables appointment, take the time to ask your practitioner how they manage risk and what they do if anything does go wrong. The CPCA urges anyone considering procedures such as anti-wrinkle injections and fillers to always speak to a registered doctor with experience in this area.
15.01.2022 When it comes to cosmetic injections, make sure theyre not illegal imports, by choosing a CPCA doctor. The general public should be aware that the substance they intend to purchase may not be sterile, with the potential to lead to difficult-to-treat infections, or worse, may be a toxic blend of something unidentifiable, leading to longer-term illness, scarring and disfigurement, says a formal warning from Cosmetics Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA) regarding client safety. If you want to find out more, email [email protected]

12.01.2022 The influx of non-approved Schedule 4 drugs into Australia is a huge issue regarding patient safety and therefore is a major concern for the CPCA. The illegal importation of these Schedule 4 drugs for cosmetic use is happening now all over Australia, with potentially dire consequences. You can trust that CPCA doctors only use REAL prescription medicines.
12.01.2022 The CPCA's Get Real campaign is in response to both the trivialisation of cosmetic procedures and some recent alarming research regarding social-media-associated facial dysmorphia. A study published in JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery used a mathematical model to prove that selfies can distort someones face by up to 30%. According to research, this proven distortion of physical features in selfies can negatively impact on self-image and the perception of self.

07.01.2022 Why did the college choose the Australian Qualifications Framework for our Registrar Training Program? The AQF provides transparency of authentic training and assessment because it is conducted by accredited independent registered training organisations or RTOs. The major benefit of producing an AQF approved course of study, is Government recognition. The College is setting the pathway to apply to the Australian Medical Council for approval of cosmetic medicine as a Specialty in its own right, similar to Sports Medicine and recently Acupuncture. There appears to be no other training program in Australia in cosmetic medicine that meets AQF criteria presently.

05.01.2022 Realistic expectations are essential when considering cosmetic medical procedures. People are going into clinics and showing doctors a face-tuned image and saying, I want to look like this. This is my selfie. I have face-tuned it. I want to look like that,' says Dr Molton. These modified selfies are just not real. Its impossible to physically replicate these images. Be careful in your choice of who to trust as there are those who have had little training and experience... in even the most basic cosmetic procedures.
