News.com.au have reported on a Bank of Queensland study that showed Australians have maintained a relationship with their dentist for an average of nine years, longer than marriages that ends in divorce after an average of 8.7 years. A different study showed that patients loyalty varied according to age and location in the UK, with 56% of the 55-64 year old age group identifying themselves as being loyal to their dentist. The Bank of Queensland study also found that customers stayed with their doctors, accountants and lawyers for a significant amount of time also.

08.01.2022 Facts about tooth decay Without regular brushing and flossing, the bacteria in your mouth can produce acid and cause cavities otherwise known as dental caries. These bacteria are trigged to make acid when you eat food or drinks with carbohydrates in it. Foods such as sugar, rice, potatoes, breads and fruits all consist of carbohydrates. Over time, acid eats away at the surface of your tooth and causing it to decay in the form of holes or cavities. Its not the amount of carbo...hydrate you eat that causes tooth decay, but the length of time your teeth are exposed to it. If you eat a lot of carbohydrate for lunch, thats one big exposure. But if you spend the day sipping sugary drinks, thats continuous exposure and can put you at risk of developing cavities. Ways to prevent dental caries include reducing the amount of plaque or bacteria in you mouth by brushing and flossing daily with a fluoride toothpaste. Fluoride is one of the best weapons against dental caries and it can be found in toothpaste, tap water, fluoride tablets and fluoride mouthwash (not Listerine). Also reducing the frequency of consuming sugary or starchy foods during the day will prevent constant exposure of these carbohydrates to the bacteria. Chewing sugar-free gum during the day to reduce bacterial growth and increase saliva flow which can remineralize early decayed surfaces on your teeth.
