25.01.2022 perfect layering weather! harvest smock top over chemise, indigo over goldenrod, plaid over plain.... slow start this morning after intermittent annoyances in the back laneway (this is not a euphemism).... heading off to pick up jacket linings and buttons....

25.01.2022 running out the door first thing this morning, errands run, breakfast next, then up to the studio.... we only have two of these grey jackets left, layered here with our market dress and ubiquitous florist's apron.... a bit grey out there today but it's mean to fine up before the thunderstorms roll in.... typical royal agricultural show weather!!

22.01.2022 so nice to get some chemises on the rack this morning.... i've been feeling down (september is a nasty month for small retailers) and making is always a good way to try and feel a little bit sparkier.... so here are some chemises in sludge, goldenrod and ornamental quince blossom....

21.01.2022 shop is vacuumed and (semi-ready) to go! tuesday is the new monday.... open at 10.30.... *remember to clean paw prints off glass*

21.01.2022 so you all know i can be a little crazy about making the stuff we sell.... well i couldn't find beeswax tea lights (to go with these leaf folders and some mercury glass lanterns we have coming in) that i liked so i've ended up making our own from beeswax sourced on the last tasmania trip.... and they smell freaking awesome! of leatherwood and bursaria and all the flowers the bees have danced about.... the tea lights will be in store soon and we are also producing some little beeswax candles in handmade terracotta chai cups too.... soon my darlings, soon....

20.01.2022 today's smock is brought to you by the colour indigo.... i can't believe we are back to saturday again.... it's been a disjointed few weeks.... i'm shopgirl today and the indigo plaids and checks are going onto the rack this morning....

19.01.2022 shop is open right up to xmas eve afternoon.... weve had stunning stock arrive from japan including more beautiful brooches by azumi sakata and the folding pocket knives are back in stock.... im off to the studio to make stuff too....

18.01.2022 getting ready for a grand final saturday in the shop.... the rack is bursting with new chemises (a few special orders to go then i'm on to the harvest smocks....) shop opens at 11 and i'll play it by ear from 2 onwards depending on how quiet it gets.... i'll be knocking about.... if you need to check just call the shop on 0394192430....

18.01.2022 thanks for all the cocoon jacket love yesterday! a bit overwhelming for a shy one like me! they will be in store as soon as possible, i'm just chasing down some fabric i need.... meanwhile i've got some lovely sanderson linen cushions finished, there was a bit of a run on them over the last few weeks, must be the spring feels! these will be in the shop later this afternoon....

17.01.2022 As we spend most of our time over on instagram I often forget to post here. So I've forgotten to let you know that the online store is now up and running. 17.01.2022 i'm having an intense love affair with colour at the moment.... i've also slightly hit the wall with two busy-ish days in the shop.... those chemises are causing a flurry of activity (still lots on the rack!) and i should be in the studio cutting out harvest smocks.... but i'm doing breakfast to ease me into the day.... shop is open at 10.30.... things are back to normal and i'm making no sense today!

16.01.2022 pretty chuffed to wake up this morning to this photo via @melbournalia of our pennants hanging out at @bluestonelanecoffee in new york.... there's quite a few of our pennants floating around the world! remember to #showusyourpennant we want to see where they've ended up! i'm hoping to re-open the online pennant shop as soon as i get a chance to upload all the 'new' designs.... we are reprinting at the moment as well, so just give us a call or drop me a line if you are after one....

16.01.2022 sweltering night and a sweaty morning trying to finish things for the shop this morning.... the first little batch of cocoon jackets going in store this morning.... i've labelled them 'small' but really it depends on your shoulders.... having breakfast before starting part 2 of my day.... and can someone tell where the hell the small sticky tape dispenser has gone??

16.01.2022 insta and fb still aren’t on speaking terms so here is a quick overview of the last few days.... xmas is definitely in full swing and the shop is open everyday up until the afternoon of the 24th when i shall shut the door and retire to bed for a week.... new stock is being made and delivered....

15.01.2022 last saturday (in a highly delirious post-ferry state) i got to dress a customer in a chemise/apron/duster coat ensemble.... oh my she looked amazing! this is just a sneak preview, i have the mulberry chemises in store today (i cut a rainbow of coloured linens this week so the rack is going to look amazing when i get them all finished) but the dusters are still a way off.... special things take time!! i'm shop-slut today and the 'hood is all shiny after last night's rain so get out of the house and come out for a promenade!

15.01.2022 oh dear.... the hot weather has hit.... i've finally got around to pulling out the beautiful new @lisabandco shortie sockettes and the classic pin spot socks.... i've been wearing these with birkenstocks and can vouch that they do not slip down.... i'm off too the hot-box studio via the usual annoying appointments and a visit to the dentist....

14.01.2022 i seem to waste my mornings.... fritter them away.... then it gets to 9 and i start to panic.... looks like it might be a nice-ish day in melbourne town.... @lindseymyra is designated shopgirl today (she's much more a morning person than me).... remember the slade knits are on sale still (perfect for this time of year and a bargain) and i'm slowly restocking the rack with linen pieces....

11.01.2022 it's been a bit of an arse of a week and burn my hand on an oven hot frying pan last night.... klutz.... but i have managed to start work on this jacket.... it has a story.... this is a garment i used to make years ago and for about 8 months i've been trying to find the pattern in the mess of a studio but deep down i knew it had been tossed out in a deluded cleaning frenzy.... then a little while ago three people in one week popped into the shop and reminisced about the cocco...on jacket of mine they had, so i told al if she brought her one in i'd recut the pattern from it.... it arrived on monday and on tuesday i drafted a new pattern, it was like meeting an old friend, all its little quirks felt so familiar, its lines were still deep in my brain.... a little cocoon jacket with a raised neck profile when buttoned up or lies flat to the chest and flares at the back when not double breasted.... in store soon! 10.01.2022 i really have no desire to adult today.... i've worked every day since i got back from tasmania.... even sundays in the studio.... the upside of all this is a rack filling up with more chemises than we've ever had, and in such a beautiful manky rainbow of colours, today's additions being 'airforce blue' and 'storm grey' (i couldn't get them accurate in the photo).... full day in the car today running errands.... it's a lovely day out there and the lovely @lindseymyra will be in the shop....

10.01.2022 i'm shopgirl again today so we'll be opening half an hour late.... sorry but i'm juggling all my usual stuff with being in the shop and i still have things to do this morning.... remember he will be closed tomorrow for that stupid *mumble mumble swear* public holiday....

09.01.2022 it's saturday (again) and today's harvest smock is brought to you by fluffy paws and our raw/cream linen gingham.... this week has been full of ups and downs and last sunday feels like yesterday.... i'm shopgirl again....

08.01.2022 morning all! *faux sparkly monday morning cheeriness* i spent another sunday in the studio yesterday so that i could open the shop today (hopefully to make up for this weekend's appalling trade), i have a few appointments this morning so i'm aiming to open at 11 (or maybe 11.30 if i'm realistic).... this photo is a bit of a tease, the gingham chemise is in the shop and the duster coats are off at our lovely makers who will be doing our new more fiddly tailored garments.... the reaction to the samples has made us very happy!

07.01.2022 sorry for the late notice.... jess is off on holiday and the experiments in cloning have failed dismally so we'll be closed for the next three mondays (this might change but we will let you know if it does!) i'll be in the studio tomorrow and shopgirl on tuesday....

06.01.2022 mood indigo around here.... i have a mountain of sewing to do.... more chemises in store tomorrow if i can pull my finger out this afternoon and get on the sewing machine....

06.01.2022 so the weather is meant to be a lovely 25C for the next two days.... and i've swapped over to birkenstocks and my new favourite (they are all favourites to be honest) @lisabandco new shortie socks, they are like gentle little clouds on your footsies.... trying to get studio work done today but had an awful night of dreams and woke up shattered from them this morning.... oh well....

02.01.2022 this deep dark blue chemise did not want to reveal its colour in a photo this morning.... it's a night sky blue it is almost black.... i have a few more colours in chemises to sew then i need to get stuck into harvest smocks.... i'm shopgirl today, it's a lovely spring day out there.... come for a meander! ps we will be closed again on monday....

02.01.2022 every day is a layering day.... gingham chemise and the last of our talia benson artist's jackets (very popular!).... the weather is all over the place today so i've let the house in layers i can discard or add to, and birkenstocks on my feet but @duckfeetaustralia boots in my bag in case the rain hits hard.... off to the studio via breakfast....

01.01.2022 this plaid is making me happy even though i feel like i've been hit by a bus.... once the old people mastered spinning and weaving and dyeing, they discovered the joys of yarn dyed checks.... they make this textile nerd happy too.... this fabric is only coming in harvest smock tops and i've popped a couple in the shop this morning.... (colours were giving me trouble this morning: shades of indigo and more white than cream)

01.01.2022 so these are why i'm now producing beeswax tea lights.... i have a bit of a thing about mercury glass and had to get these in.... etched and 'silvered', can be hung, perfect for candles or flowers.... two sizes, 13cm or 10cm in height.... more mercury glass coming....
