13.01.2022 Great choice by Canberra natives... Because being 'the Bush Capital' is such an important part of our identity and history #smartcity #bushcapital https://www.facebook.com/riotactnews/videos/10155085851783850/

10.01.2022 History and heritage is so important amongst any community. The Cotter Hub project will include a museum and arts centre to educate and inspire tourists and locals alike. This region is rich in indigenous and colonial history. By working together, we can share the stories and reconnect with the landscape https://www.facebook.com/thecanberrapage/posts/1459066280800861
10.01.2022 Dear all...re the CT Article: You will notice in the article that we were burgled 5 times between May and November last year and my health has taken a huge hit from that. This has put a huge strain on Scopes ability to function and has had a huge impact on the site. I took the project on in an effort to get people back up the hill, back up enjoying the site and breathing a little heart and soul into the space post bushfires because it IS a very special place. And to thi...s end - I've achieved. We were busier than we expected when we opened. We have struggled with the amenity provided onsite, due largely to the sometimes overwhelming demand for custom in this area and other normal and abnormal small business issues. For this, I apologise - I did the best I could with what I had. What is easily confirmed beyond doubt is how important this place is to the Canberra community and how, urgently, something needs to be done about the visitor amenity here. I am so proud of all the things we've achieved up here...the Past, Present Future Exhibition - with over 9000 visitors, Music Under the Stars with the Canberra Youth Orchestra, Centenary Stargazing events, The Kaleidoscope Community gallery - which all go to show that if you give a bunch of passionate locals opportunity and half an inch - they will go the full mile and make a valuable and real change to the landscape. We don't have a lot of fans online - most of our people we serve are in the 50+ age bracket and they access their information elsewise. I encourage everyone to put away the facebook this weekend and go outdoors - out to Tidbinbilla - out to the Cotter and have a look at how beautiful & wild nature is right now before it disappears. 10.01.2022 The lovely Melissa Cabban told me this story and I was perplexed and confused about the history (this was before my time :) Great to see a picture!
09.01.2022 Happy holidays all! Due to popular demand, I though I’d update you on our progress on this important tourism project. We’ve spent the past year and 1/2 trying to work with the ACT government to get some traction on this project, which could potentially see a major change to the tourism landscape in Canberra. I can’t lie, it’s been frustrating and an exercise in patience. We’ve been waiting since prior the election for a chance to represent our ideas again to the government, ...after the original program we applied to go through, was first approved, then deemed ‘unsuitable’ for us, with little explanation as to why. There’s also been a lot of changes within government including within the LDA and the City renewal agencies. Needless to say, we are not giving up. In the new year, we’ll be back on the trail developing the business case and hoping that the government can see the value of this project as part of a ‘renewal’ of our community in Weston Creek post 2003 bushfires, to the benefit of the wider Canberra community. You can help us by writing your support to the Minister for Tourism, Andrew Barr. It will take as long as it takes, and we know we’re on the right track due to the huge amount of support and interest shown in the development. Over the Christmas period, I hope you have a chance to pop out to the Cotter and enjoy a swim at Canberra’s Beach - Casurina sands. Or head down to Urriara and kick the footy and enjoy the river with your puppy. It’s just beautiful out there at the moment. Merry Christmas and a safe and summery New Years xxx See more
08.01.2022 Just a reminder to all - we are still serving coffee and cake and whipping up a sandwich. Please feel free to pop in and say goodbye or hello :) We will have a petition going, to get some more funding for the site to be loved :) There is also a public observing night tonight - if you're brave enough to come up - it is trying to snow...
