20.01.2022 RANDWICK CITY COUNCIL DELIVERS ON AN 8-YEAR COMMITMENT TO ST SPYRIDON COLLEGE Covid regulations meant that a scheduled meeting with Randwick City Council could ...not take place inside the offices of St Spyridon College Senior School at Maroubra today, Thursday 3rd September 2020. Instead, the meeting was set up in the tree lined median strip opposite the College which was exactly the subject of today’s formal information session. Following a submission proposed some eight years ago by the Board of St Spyridon Parish, Councillor Danny Said, the Mayor of Randwick City, was on hand to make the formal announcement that the Council is now ready to construct a $1.5 million 50- spot carpark and student drop-off facility for the benefit of St Spyridon College and the broader community. Present were our parish priests Father Steven Scoutas and Father Amphilohios Papantoniou, the Parish President Mr Con Livissianis, the Head of St Spyridon College Mrs Efrosini Stefanou, the Head of College Elect Mrs Amelia Katsogiannis, the Principal of the Junior School Mrs Aristea Synesios and officers of Randwick City Council. Also present were Councillor Anthony Andrews (former Deputy Mayor and St Spyridon Parish Hon. Harris Farm has offered free fresh fruit and vegetables for Randwick City’s most vulnerable residents and in association with Viral Kindness will deliver the fresh food and pack the produce into boxes in the Randwick Community Centre. The local community service providers will then distribute mixed boxes to households throughout our City and Viral Kindness will also supply charities. The program will trial for one month running Monday Friday with the best part of 100 boxes being distributed daily.

14.01.2022 Parking for hospital workers: This weekend we’ve made available about 300 free onstreet parking spaces for POW and Children’s Hospital Emergency Departmen...t and Intensive Care staff. The spaces are near the hospital in streets like Barker St, Belmore Rd, Cuthill St and Botany St. Hospital management will be handing out the special parking permits that will permit parking in areas signposted as pictured. It’s part of Council’s Community Support Package to help our hospital workers. It’s a small thing, but we hope finding a park is made a bit easier so they can focus on the tough job of helping us all get through this pandemic. More: https://bit.ly/2R8to8E
11.01.2022 It has been a great honour representing my community. This month marks 20 years since I was first elected to Randwick Council. My biggest achievement has been the redevelopment and improvement of Heffron Park. I can’t wait to see the final section completed in the very near future with a new gymnastics centre and an indoor sports centre and further bringing home the South Sydney Rabbitohs with the construction of their new high performance centre .
11.01.2022 My thoughts and condolences to the Lebanese people - I stand in solidarity with you and the Australian Lebanese community.
10.01.2022 Yarra Bay cruise terminal proposal has been deferred for 18 months by the NSW State Govt. Hopefully this proposal will now be abandoned forever. Garden Island is a more suitable location for an overseas passenger terminal.

08.01.2022 "Private hospitals are capable of taking up some of the load" - Brett Holmes, NSWNMA General Secretary It's unthinkable that hundreds of nurses are being stood ...down at this current time. The NSW Government needs to deliver for our state and strike a deal with private hospitals to have them assist our current hospital capacity. #LetsGetItDoneNSW Via 7NEWS Sydney

05.01.2022 Media Release Mayor of Randwick. Beaches available for exercise; social distancing and gathering restrictions in place Randwick City’s beaches including Coogee, Maroubra and Clovelly Beaches will be made available for exercise purposes only as of tomorrow Monday 20 April 2020. All Randwick City beaches were closed three weeks ago on 28 March to discourage large groups congregating at the beach.... Measures will be in place to ensure the beaches are accessed for exercise purposes only including sand jogging and walking, swimming, surfing and other exercise activities. People must maintain 1.5 metres between each other, limit groups to two people and move on once they have completed their exercise. Sitting or sun-baking on the sand will not be permitted. Living along the coast, I know how important our beaches are to the mental and physical health of so many in the community, explains Mayor Danny Said. The past three weeks have been difficult as we’ve all had to make changes and sacrifices to our daily routines. Our decision to close the beaches three weeks ago was not taken lightly and factored in the risk of coronavirus spread, particularly given the concentration of COVID-19 cases in the eastern suburbs area along with the popularity of our beaches. Our decision was also based upon expected crowd numbers and people’s initial behaviour in relation to social distancing rules. By not going to the beach, each of us has helped others in need. We’ve helped slow the spread and flatten the curve. I know it’s been tough, but I thank everybody for doing the right thing. Since the beach closures occurred, the Government has introduced new social distancing and group gathering restrictions to limit people’s uses of open spaces to exercise activities. We appreciate that with the current restrictions in place people are increasingly looking for access to more open spaces including water for their physical and mental well-being. I’m confident that with the support of swimming and surfing communities that we as a community can all help each to practice social distancing, stay safe and still enjoy our beaches for exercise. I need to stress that our beaches are not open to general use and can only be accessed for exercise. Activities such as sitting on the sand, sun-baking or gathering in groups will not be permitted and Council staff and police will be enforcing these restrictions. I urge everybody to do the right thing and practice social distancing while exercising so that we can maintain access for exercise purposes and get through this difficult period together, commented Mayor Danny Said. Ocean rock pools in Randwick City will remain closed until further notice as they are subject to a public health order to close.
