19.01.2022 Many thanks to the City of Canning and Cricket Australia for upgrading the practice cricket nets at Coker Park. New wall to wall synthetic turf, fencing and rubber backing has been installed as well as a power outlet for a bowling machine. I went down to Cannington Tigers Cricket Club training to see the new nets in action!

14.01.2022 Playgrounds update; I’m really pleased that the City of Canning has commenced planning to upgrade a number of playgrounds across Canning as part of its Play Provision Strategy unanimously endorsed by Council in April. The playgrounds identified for an upgrade in the Beeloo Ward include;... Charles Treasure Park- Cannington Ferndale Flats Park- Ferndale Ferndale Park- Ferndale Cranley Park- Lynwood Woodford Park- Lynwood Andrew’s Park- Wilson Thomas Moore Park- Wilson In a few weeks time, community members will be invited to give their feedback on the design of these playgrounds and others via the City’s engagement platforms. A new, district level playground at the Kent St Weir will also be built as part of the Kent St Weir Precinct Plan. A community engagement event will be held in December as part of the consultation process. Everyone is welcome to come along to learn more about the playground and to put forward their ideas on its elements. The City of Canning, a local Ferndale resident and myself have been working together on ways to improve accessibility and the play experience at the Ferndale Flats Playground. Amongst the ideas being considered is soft-fall matting, new play elements (including nature play) and the relocation of the playground closer to the car park to improve access.

12.01.2022 Thank you so much to the staff, parents and students from Fountain College for their amazing efforts and support of the Canning River Regional Park Volunteers at their September Work Day today. Over 115 bags of weeds were removed from ‘The Paddock’ site in Ferndale. What a great morning!

08.01.2022 A fantastic Christmas lunch today at the Station Street Mens Shed. Great food and conversation shared amongst shedders and their partners. Thank you to all involved!

04.01.2022 A big thank you to the team from the Intercultural Harmony Society Inc. and the Australian Relief Organisation for all of their support, cooking the meals for the Cannington Soup Kitchen last night. Many thanks also to the students from Fountain College who helped serve the traditional dinners.
