22.01.2022 LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARDED TO CR. RAYLENE CARR - AUSTRALIAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION, VICTORIA BRANCH Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with Mayo...r Kylie Spears, Maroondah City Council who is also the current President of ALGWA Victorian Branch. Kylie presented me with my Life Membership Certificate and badge which I was absolutely delighted to receive. First thing I did on arriving home was to hang the Certificate proudly on the wall of my office. This honour had been awarded to me on 25th March this year, however due to COVID restrictions I needed to wait until now for it to be officially acknowledged. I am thrilled to be awarded this in the centenary year of Mary Rogers, being the first Victorian woman elected to Local Government. Thank you to the ALGWA Committee for their recognition of my 10 plus years of service.

08.01.2022 Just three months ago, there were 4,293 active cases in Victoria and 177 newly-reported cases in a single day. Today - we're in a very different place. This wa...s only possible because of the incredible work of so many people across our community, and as we return to a new Covid normal, I can’t wait to thank you in person. Here are some of the things that are changing from midnight tonight. You can have up to 15 visitors in your home, per day Outdoor gatherings in public spaces like the park or beach will increase to 50 The cap on weddings, funerals and religious gatherings will increase to 150 people Changes to the hospitality sector meaning they can serve more people but they must keep a record of patrons Cinemas, galleries and museums can host up to 150 people indoors Contact and non-contact sport can begin for adults as well as kids 150 people indoors with a group size of up to 20, and 500 outdoors with a group size of up to 50 Masks will not be required outdoors but you must still carry one for settings where distancing is not possible (like busy markets for example). They are still required in indoor settings. As for what the holiday season will look like this year the cap on indoor visitors will be lifted to 30 from 11.59pm on Monday 13 December so that you can share the holiday season with as many loved ones as safely possible. I’ll put up the full statement in the comments and post more information as it becomes available.

08.01.2022 Imagine Whitehorse in 2040. What do you want our community to look, feel and be like? These are some of the top responses from our community so far. Do you agree? Have your say by completing the survey: http://bit.ly/31sRsIT

06.01.2022 ICYMI : And a message from Dan ‘I know everyone’s hanging out for this one so I’ll cut to the chase. Victoria will move to the Last Step from 11.59pm tonig...ht. That’ll mean more people can get together 15 visitors to your home and 50 outdoors in a public place. Numbers at gyms will increase to 150 with group limits of 20 and venue density limits. Hospitality also increases to 150 inside for larger venues and 50 for smaller ones with density limits based on their size. Up to 150 people can attend weddings and funerals. And the number caps will be increased for other venues community centres, galleries, museums and more. I'll put all the details in the comments. There will be a staged return to offices for staff who've spent the past six+ months in Zoom meetings too with up to 25 per cent able to come back onsite at any one time. Everyone else will need to keep working from home. We’re also changing the rules around masks. They’ll still be mandatory indoors and on PT but you won’t need one outside, so long as you’re able to keep a safe distance from others. To put it into context, that means wearing a mask if you’re at a busy outdoor market or event but not if you’re out walking the dog. You'll need to carry a mask at all times for when it's required. I’m sure some people think everything should be thrown open completely now that we’ve gone three weeks without a case. But that’s precisely the point. We’ve only got to zero cases because of masks and distancing and everyone playing their part. Keeping these protections around a bit longer means that if we were to get a case, the risk of it spreading faster and wider will be much lower. And most Victorians would agree it’s a relatively small imposition for a potentially huge benefit. Just finally, to everyone looking ahead to Christmas and planning how many seats at the lunch table you'll be able to have 30 visitors at home, including kids. We'll have more to say on other settings soon, based on the latest public health advice. This has been a year like no other and one most of us would probably rather forget. Victorians have sacrificed so much and done it so tough. But even in the darkest of winter days, we stuck together and supported each other. And for that I am so grateful and so very proud’.

06.01.2022 Because a few have been asking, here’s what Halloween will look like this year While we can’t celebrate in the normal ways we would, there are alternativ...e options: Have a Halloween party outside in a public place. You can catch up with a group of up to ten people (including yourself). Babies under 12 months age aren’t included in the ten-person limit. An outdoor public place means an area accessible to everyone, including local parks and beaches. Do a Halloween scavenger hunt by giving children a list of Halloween-themed things to look for as they walk outdoors from house to house admiring Halloween decorations at a distance. Just like eye-spy! The limit of ten people (including yourself) applies to scavenger hunts. Carve or decorate pumpkins with members of your household. Decorate your house. Have a virtual costume party or party with friends and family on video chat. Have a Halloween movie night with your household. Create an around the house trick or treat or scavenger hunt for your household Handing out lollies or candy Coronavirus is still with us and celebrating at home is the safest way to mark Halloween this year. If you do trick or treat, you need to stay safe. It is safer not to hand out lollies or candy to trick-or-treaters this Halloween. This is because the virus can spread on surfaces, including food or packaging. Under current restrictions traditional trick or treating where you knock on someone’s door is not permitted. If you can’t resist handing out lollies this year you can do so by having candy available outside of your home. Don’t use communal bowls for lollies or candy. Putting lollies in a shared bowl will mean everyone is touching the same food and surfaces which isn’t safe. Instead, put individually wrapped lollies or candy in bags for non-contact collection. Place bags on your fence, at your front gate or outside your home for collection. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before preparing the bags or individually wrapped lollies or candy. And of course remember: This Halloween there are some actions you can take to keep your friends, family and community safe, while still enjoying yourself. If you have any symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) get tested and stay at home. By staying at home this Halloween, you help to keep your friends, family and community safe. Wear a face mask with your costume, but remember that a costume mask that is part of your Halloween costume is not a substitute for a face mask. Consider making your own mask and decorating it. Keep at least 1.5 metres between yourself and people you don’t live with. This means no hugging or kissing when greeting people. Don’t share food or drinks.
