25.01.2022 There is no need for Hobart to have four councils and four sets of paid council roles. I say we combine, save resources and have consistent decision-making across greater Hobart. Having one council for the Greater Hobart area will better position us to solve key issues such as traffic, housing, and development, which cross current council borders. Like, share, and VOTE 1 Will Coats for Council if you want a commonsense Council!... Read my positions here: http://bit.ly/2CSmjnb #CoatsForCouncil

24.01.2022 Very sad news , Hobart tip has been hit with an arson attack. When it gets back up and running, I would highly recommend taking the time to go and check it out. Thank you to the Tasmanian Fire Service workers for putting out the fire.

24.01.2022 Well... what an election this has been! To all the people that supported me, I'd like to thank you for everything. It has been an enlightening and fulfilling experience to discuss your concerns about Hobart and its future; I will be honoured to serve our great city if I am elected as an alderman to HCC.... I've learned a lot about the struggles the people of Hobart face on a granular level and have only become *more* motivated to serve and represent than ever! I'd like to thank everyone that has helped out by offering sign sites, flyer-walking, spreading the word, engaging with my content, coming along to events, or contributing in any other way. Though it has been exhausting and frustrating at times, I'm only optimistic that it has been for a good cause. While we wait for the final count, why not take a look back at my campaign in the video below? (Authorised by Will Coats, 11 McDevitt Ave, Dynnyrne, TAS 7005)

23.01.2022 At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we pause to remember those men and women who have served and sacrificed for their country. #LestWeForget Many were like this young man who was sent off to fight behind enemy lines as a part of Z company (precursor to the SAS) and it is right that we pause to remember and honour their service.

22.01.2022 It's time we saw some common sense return to Council. Festivals in Hobart are one of the most beneficial uses of ratepayers' money, with one of the highest returns on investment to constituents. I think it does need to be reviewed periodically as a matter of practice to ensure we get value for money, but thus far at least, I think Dark Mofo is a tremendous asset and drawcard for our city!... Like and share if you enjoy festivals, and VOTE 1 Will Coats for Council if you'd want to continue attending them! Read my positions here: http://bit.ly/2CSmjnb #CoatsForCouncil

22.01.2022 Very happy to be supporting Ten Lives cat centre. This is where we got our beautiful cat Leo from

21.01.2022 Lucky enough today to check out Dna Eating House a truly awesome new restaurant up on Murray st (old Italian pantry site) They give back a percentage to different charities each month. Truly great to hear from Dan (one of the brothers who started it) all about the ethos, meals and challenges they overcame (especially opening a new restaurant in the new Covid world). ... I strongly recommend checking it out-I’ll vouch for the wok tossed beef-delish Blessed to live in such an awesome city with local businesses like this #Hobart #Food

21.01.2022 Yes, the one you've all been wondering about! The short answer is... I’m in favour of having a cable car of some kind. Whether it be a good or bad thing, I think the road is at capacity and we need an alternative means to get people up/down the mountain. Tourism is our bread and butter in Tasmania, and I think we should do what we can to get behind it. ... Like, share, and VOTE 1 Will Coats for Council if you want to see developments be taken seriously and tourism encouraged! Read my positions here: http://bit.ly/2CSmjnb

20.01.2022 Now serving you on Hobart Council to ensure our city remains the most liveable in the country. Improving services. Respecting ratepayers.

18.01.2022 Fantastic night at the FutureFest dinner celebrating Tasmania’s emerging entrepreneurial scene and startup space! Was fantastic to see the Minister of Science and Technology and talk about the importance of the IT sector being at the forefront of Tasmania’s innovation on the global stage. Great to catch up with my former work colleagues and employers at Mint Telecom, MyState Bank and RACT! Hobart really is incredible at allowing people across different businesses to meet and mingle.

18.01.2022 Support coming in from all areas of the globe My cousin-in-law Juliana is a lawyer in the U.S. and wanted to wish me well in my campaign for Hobart City Council. How sweet of her to send this to me!

17.01.2022 Great to be able to attend the opening of the new cascade bar today. Amazing establishment redone with a new bar/eating area. Let’s hope they can get back to hosting events/weddings etc soon. A truly magnificent establishment and one of the joys of living in Hobart being near such a local brewery - love the cascade lager too. It might be many years from now-but I’ve determined my hang out spot once retired. . If you have a spare afternoon/weekend I suggest you come check it out. #hobart #cascade #lager Cascade Brewery

17.01.2022 Beautiful morning at the Farm Gate marketwhich today turned 9. Very exciting to see all the local businesses out and putting forward their wares. My personal favourite is to pick up a snack at Raw Dealer (I have a dairy allergy). If you see me come say hi! ... One week to goremember to get your votes in on time for processing! Oh, and... why not VOTE 1 Coats for Council! #CoatsForCouncil

15.01.2022 Stay safe everyone

15.01.2022 I have just received over 400 likes on this page! It's an honour to know that at least 400 people support me. 400 people identify with my values and love Hobart as much as I do. ... 400 people feel I represent them. If elected to Council this local election, I will bring common sense to HCC. I will bring a fresh and open-minded approach to facing the issues and opportunities Hobart has. After all... this is about YOU. Let's put Council back to business. I appreciate your No. 1 Vote! #CoatsForCouncil

14.01.2022 Training ride completed-Sandy bay to Kingston ... if you can please show some support for Diabetes Tasmania https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/CouncillorCoats

12.01.2022 An important reminder about how we can do the right thing and help local small businesses.

12.01.2022 This is Leo the cat. For a small animal he uses a frankly amazing amount of cat litter. Luckily for us we can use the FOGO service (fogo bin pictured) for our organic waste (organic cat litter included). Congratulations Hobart City Council on the one year anniversary of the FOGO service. A great initiative.

11.01.2022 It's examples like this that really inspire me - at the end of the day its the small business traders who make our city tick, employ people and provide great services. Such a shame that they need to resort to posting this to facebook to get heard. The current council seems to have a tin-ear in respect to listening to their concerns-focused too much on themselves rather than the community they need to represent. All to often in door knocking I've heard horror stories of pe...ople being impacted by the council and a real sense that they're not listening. Let's put Council back to Business - listening to the concerns of residents and traders alike. Vote 1 Coats for Council #CoatsForCouncil

11.01.2022 I've said before, tourism is our bread and butter and I think we should do what we can to get behind it. We also get to enjoy the resulting offerings! Does anyone believe Hobart could support so many great restaurants if there was no tourist market whatsoever? I believe in supporting:... Transport measures for kunanyi/Mt Wellington Our festivals such as Dark Mofo Our local businesses that cater to tourism See more

10.01.2022 It's madness that our fastest growing municipality in Tasmania is Sorellbeyond the reach of the Metro Bus network! The best way to prevent this is for Hobart City Council to be open to development and allow the construction of more residential premises in Hobart. Release McRobies tip pre-2030 for housing development... Encourage medium density builds along key corridors Encourage ‘European Style’ development; no skyscrapers in Hobart Like, share, and VOTE 1 Will Coats for Council if you want proactive housing measures! Read my positions here: http://bit.ly/2CSmjnb

10.01.2022 I want to see our infrastructure evolving with our city. In my opinion, handling traffic congestion requires a multi-faceted approach. We need measures for the short, mid, and long-term to ease Hobart's traffic woes. I want to see: Bus-friendly infrastructure (e.g pull-in bays)... City-loop, park & ride services available Smart traffic lights to live-assess & alleviate traffic A light rail system implemented in the CBD Like and share if you want better traffic conditions, and Vote 1 Will Coats for Council! 08.01.2022 Happy New Year! Wishing everyone a great 2021. Great to see in the new year with the Hobart fireworks.

08.01.2022 Have you voted yet? Polling closes 10am Tuesday 30th. To be certain it’s received it can be dropped directly to the Council at 16 Elizabeth St. Local elections only occur every 4 years... So don't leave your ballot blank, vote now to you have your say!... Don't forget to number aldermen 1-12 for your vote to be valid. I would greatly appreciate your Number 1 Vote this local election #CoatsForCouncil

05.01.2022 This year I'm going to be a participant in the Diabetes Tasmania Pollie Pedal charity ride - riding from St Helens to Richmond (approximately 300km). Diabetes can affect anyone, in my own family my mother had gestational diabetes when pregnant with me (gestational diabetes is more common with triplet pregnancies). If you can, please donate towards this very worthwhile cause.... https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/councillorcoats

04.01.2022 Fully agree with Alderman Simon Fraser on this. Whilst there may have been a time when they were two separate cities - these days Hobart and Glenorchy are essentially the same 'community of interest'. Need to have combined representation/one City (though I would of course vote it remains called City of Hobart :P).

01.01.2022 Sometimes Council has good roadmaps for them to follow, created by experts in their fields. I recently caught up with Jerry de Gryse from Inspiring Place Landscape Architects, who's the consultant that prepared the current Council’s tree strategy. I fully support and encourage the Council to implement this strategymore trees means a better and more beautiful streetscape for Hobart and better temperature control!... Like and share if you want a more beautiful city and VOTE 1 Will Coats for Council! #CoatsForCouncil

01.01.2022 Great to catch up with old friends on a rainy night @botanica
