25.01.2022 Did you know that there are plans to build two wastes incinerators in our backyard, next door to @fairfieldcitycouncil? The community has 15 days to make a submission to the NSW Department of Planning. Here are the steps to make a submission to oppose the incinerator: --> Click on the ‘Make a submission’ tab on the project page: ... https://tinyurl.com/y6fmcgq7 --> Create an account: https://tinyurl.com/y3fwu9rk you will need to have an email and create a password for this step. It will then take you through to setting up the account, and then you make your submission. @Cleanaway, one of the biggest waste companies in Australia, whose parent company is based in the US, is one of the companies proposing to have their incinerator built at Eastern Creek. The other one is The Next Generation (TNG), also at Eastern Creek. While Eastern Creek is not within Fairfield Local Government area, it's next door in Blacktown City Council. As many people know, burning wastes will generate toxic fumes. We must do all we can to stop the incinerators being built at our doorstep. Lets be responsible with the wastes we generate day in, day out. Check out the article I posted on Linkedin: https://tinyurl.com/y4glxga5 "The purpose of the proposal is to build an energy-from-waste facility that can generate up to 58 megawatts of power by thermally treating up to 500,000 tonnes per year of residual municipal solid waste and residual commercial and industrial waste". That's the statement on the Department of Planning website; it's a significant development. Lets ensure our community, the people, our air, our health, is protected. We must stop these incinerators from being built. #noincineratorsinSouthWestSydney #StopDumpingWastesInSydneySouthWest #ProtectOurHealth #CleanAir #OurHealth #zerowaste #recycle #plastic #environment #garbage #toxinfree
25.01.2022 The Minimalists: Less Is Now is streaming on Netflix, and I recommend this very interesting documentary that gave me a fresh perspective on how we view things. This is one of those documentaries that will force you to reflect, as it encourages viewers to live to the bare minimum and breaking the difficult cycle of being a slave to the dark side of consumerism. The anchors of this documentary are Joshua Fields Milburn and Ryan Nicodemus (they are known for their successful ...books and podcast on their minimalist method). They were able to give profound insights and really made me ponder on our society and its toxicity especially on mental health, as people have this fear of missing out and they try to fulfill their desires for immediate gratification by buying things that they essentially don’t need. The core message is less is more, that we should all be contented with what we have to live a happier, more fulfilling, and healthier life. Stream this if you have time! #declutteryourlife #minimalist #Netflix #recommendtowatch #saturdayrelaxingtips

22.01.2022 Happy Halloween! This was taken last year, me with this adorable little girl at Canley Heights' Halloween event, which was organised by the local businesses and supported by our @fairfieldCityCouncil. Unfortunately, we can't have the event this year, but I have no doubt the spirit of Halloween lives on nevertheless. While it's an American cultural activity, it's slowly creeping into our Australian cultural celebrations. Especially it's fun for the kids and the families. And w...e do need some fun injected into our lives this year! #HappyHalloween #EOM #EndOfMonth

17.01.2022 #WednesdayMotivation Have you had the feeling, while doing what you're doing - whether it be working on your business, or in your business, or you were supposed to have a meeting with someone but didn't want to do it, or there was an event on, and you thought - 'bugger this, I'm too tired to attend, I won't gain anything from it'? Or do you sometimes feel like saying it wasn't worth it? And give up?... Take a leaf from Thomas Edison, who experimented over a 1000 times to come up with the incandescent light bulb - which we use today. Imagined if he stopped at number 5 for example? If you are working on your business and want some motivation, take a look at this presentation from @MarkFlores from the recent workshop that I organised at the @OpenFairfieldCityLibraries #TheWorkary. http://www.falconmentoring.com/social-media-marketing-succ/ #keepgoing #dontgiveup #WednesdayHump #YouAreCloserThanYouThink #StayFocus #DAWNSocialImpact #SocialImpactBusiness
17.01.2022 St John the Baptist Primary paid Fairfield City Council a visit to receive their end-of-year graduation certificate and the double passes to our Aquatopia Water Park. And shared what they would do if they were in the Mayor of Fairfield Frank Carbone shoes for the day. The future leaders of our city!
17.01.2022 Scott Farlow MLC visited our city today and helped turned the sod at our new facility being built at the Fairfield City Council Showground with Mayor of Fairfield Frank Carbone and Councillor Sera Yilmaz. We thanked the Gladys Berejiklian Government for injecting money into our city to help build the infrastructure that’s needed for our community and families.

16.01.2022 What do people really care to talk about? According to Rabbi Daniel Lapin who shared with Linh Podetti on our DAWN channel recently, people cared to talk mainly about 'sex and money'. Sex as in the essence of human relationship, and God's plan for human economic interactions. https://fb.watch/1uZSktfJUp/... 15.01.2022 It’s that time of the year again- certificate presentations to year 6 students across our @fairfield city council area. Every year, we present to Year 6 students a graduation certificate with a double pass to our @aquatopia water park as a small gesture to acknowledge their final year at Primary School. I love these visits. Seeing the students’ faces lit up when they get the double passes is just gold.... Thanks to Frank Carbone Mayor of Fairfield for creating this initiative for our year six students.
15.01.2022 A year ago today we were handing out Aquatopia Water Park to students in our city Mayor of Fairfield Frank Carbone!
15.01.2022 Happy birthday to this young man @kevinLamr. Kevin is really passionate about making a difference in our @CabramattaCommunity. He reached out to me about 6 years ago, wanting to explore the political arena. And he did step in, trying his hands at political campaigning in the NSW Local Government Election in 2016 as an Independent. He ran an amazing campaign with a bunch of young passionate emerging leaders in our area. Hope the passion is still there Kevin! Wishing you a fantastic year, and I look forward to our collaborations. #BirthdayBoy #HappyBirthday #giveback #dogood #socialgood #onelife #MakingADifference #TheDifferenceIsYou #NSWLocalPolitics #NSWPol #RepresentationMatters #CabramattaMatters #AVoiceForCabramatta #CabramattaCommunity #NSWLocalGovernmentElection #
14.01.2022 At Council’s Tuesday night meeting we endorsed the Mayoral minute to write to the Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock MP, the NSW Electoral Commission and the major political parties asking them to consider having appropriate background checks for candidates standing for the Local Government elections. Currently some individuals with a criminal record can be endorsed as candidates and not be disclosed to the community. We believe the community has the right to know ...this information, when deciding which candidate to vote for. What do you think?
14.01.2022 #FlashBackFriday My second sister, Vi, and I with family friends in Saigon, Vietnam before the end of the war in April 1975, before our escape. Can you pick me out?... I have sometimes wondered what my life would have been if my family didn't flee Saigon at the end of the war? I remember how frightened people were as news spread of the communists from the North had entered the city. #feelinggrateful #VietnamWar #RefugeesExperience #AmplifyYourStory #ShiningTheLightOnUnheardStories #SocialImpact #Thedifferenceisyou #CouncillorDaiLe #DaiLe #DAWNMediaLtd #DAWNCast
11.01.2022 It's Friday! How was your week? Did you get a few things ticked off? I had an amazing, and productive week. The week started with the #JonathanNguyenDesignDay that I organised with the help of a fabulous team, including members of the #SouthWestEntrepreneurialHub. I can confidently say, it was a great success! 93% of attendees loved it, and would recommend to others to attend, and they want more of these workshops. We offered both face-to-face interactions as well as peop...le can join in on zoom. I want to once again acknowledge the presenters for giving their all, and provided such valuable insights and advice. And I want to thank @_jamiecreative for her design work. Check her work out and I can recommend Jamie. She's starting out, but she's great! @yesloyal @linhpod @markflores @dianeGattoAu Andrew Lam, The Workary @OpenFairfieldCityLibraries and my @dawn_podcast team: Matthew and Helena. Thank you. I hope you can now relax into the weekend.
11.01.2022 #ThrowBackThursday My beautiful nieces and my adorable son @Lambert_Ethan in 2008! They are all sitting for the HSC and IB exams this week, for the next couple of weeks. I know they have been studying so hard; they have been uptight and stressed about the exams. ... Thinking of all the students. Whatever happens, know that you've put your best foot forward. #HSC #IB #PutYourBestFootForward #BeingYoung #SeizeTheDay #SeizeTheOpportunities #DontWorryBeHappy #GiveItYourBestShot
10.01.2022 There have been times along my journey in politics and business, where I've felt that it wasn't worth it to continue. In politics, the constant games, and in business, the constant hustling, can feel relentless at times. I often looked for those who've trodden the paths before me and get inspiration. Many of you have heard of JK Rowlings, who authored the world-famous Harry Potter series. She was rejected by publishing houses so many times. If she had given up we probably w...ouldn't have the Harry Potter movies today. Or Walt Disney, who was told he lacked imagination and his concept of Mickey Mouse was rejected by MGM. If he had given up, many kids would not have known the magic of Disney. And of course, we have Oprah Winfrey, who was fired for being unfit for TV shows. Many of us know how she has gone on to build her own media empire. The list goes on. I carry with me the quote 'Don't Quit'. I read this often. It's when things go wrong that you must not quit, I remind myself constantly. Don't give up, even if the road your walking on seems uphill. Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Especially for the things in life that are worth fighting for, the things that we are passionate about. Be focused. Be relentless. Persevere. #courage #couragetospeakup #couragetobe #couragetolive #embracelife #dontquit #restifyoumust #keepmovingforward #stayfocused #perservere #surroundyourselfwiththerightpeople #repurposeyourpurpose #bethechangeyouwanttosee #thedifferenceisyou
08.01.2022 #IWD International Women's Day is around the corner. I'm taking part in a few events online, and face-to-face to mark this day of acknowledgment. I want to share a post about a project I took part in, just over a year ago called #PostcardsFromTomorrow. It's a collection of more than 270 heartfelt letters, encompassing hilarity and heartbreak, insight and inspiration from an amazing array of women of influence and integrity writing to their younger selves. There are Australia...n and international luminaries from the worlds of comedy, theatre, TV, and dance; adventurers and Olympic champions, broadcasters and journalists, activists and philanthropists, politicians, business leaders, innovators, and instigators. They have all written to their younger self. It's an honour to be one of those women (swipe to see my letter to my younger self.) You can purchase the book from www.postcardsfromtomorrow.com. All proceeds will go to Lou's Place, a safe place where women’s basic needs are met, to heal and be supported to rebuild their lives #couragetobe #postcardsfromtomorrow #lettertomyyoungerself #internationalwomensday #beyou #challengetochoose #celebratewomen #thedifferenceisyou #couragetospeakup #couragetolead #havethecourage #embraceyouryoungerself #brandstorytelling #shiningthelightonuntoldstories #daile_inspo
06.01.2022 #throwbackthursday It's the UN International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, this week. Last year, @mayoroffairfieldfrankcarbone and I, along with other community members, did the #walkagainstviolence in @Cabramatta.... On December 5th, I will be speaking at the @zentealounge as part of their #100WomenInSolidarity to raise awareness about #domesticviolence. The event hopes to bring people together to share stories and have an open conversation about the issue. #100WomenInSolidarity #WomenEmpowerment #DomesticViolence #StandingUpAgainstDV #EmpoweringWomenInSouthWestSydney #DAWNMediaLtd #ZenTeaLounge #CouncillorDaiLe
06.01.2022 Victoria Woodhull was the first woman to run for President in the United States in 1872! She was from the Equal Rights Party. She also was the first woman, together with her sister, Tennessee Claflin, to run a brokerage firm on Wall Street, and were among the first women to found and publish a newspaper, Woodhull & Claflin's Weekly in 1870. I'm sure there are amazing women like Victoria Woodhull in our community who deserve to be recognised for the contribution they are mak...ing in the business, and public sphere. @FairfieldCityCouncil opens our #fairfieldcitycouncilWomensAward today. 05.01.2022 THE #AUDACITYOFHOPE. WHETHER YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN OR YOU CAN’T, YOU ARE RIGHT. IT STARTS WITH YOU. #THEDIFFERENCEISYOU. BEFORE ANYONE ELSE BELIEVES IT, YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IT. ... DO YOU HAVE A PLAN B? DO YOU NEED A PLAN B? An inspirational post by @willsmith. So in awe of his mindset and perspective. Ben Ho shared his thoughts recently about having a plan for your business. Should we have a plan A and plan B? What do you have? What do you think? Many who knows me, knows I’m really driven and passionate about activating the #entrepreneurship within our @fairfieldcity community. I recently ran the #JNDD workshop at the @fcopenlibraries #TheWorkary with amazing local business owners and start ups sharing their journeys. 05.01.2022 I love #marcusaurelius philosophy. Reading this quote made me reflect on the obstacles that I've encountered along the way. And these obstacles became THE WAY. For example, when I started out in journalism, especially in television, there were hardly any diversity of representations on our screens. The obstacle to being seen on a major television network for people of colour, led me to create @DAWNMediaLtd. ... There's still a lack today. But with the emergence of social media, the mainstream media landscape will slowly change. Through our @DAWNMediaLtd channel, we are producing the #DAWNCast program, where we shine the light on unheard stories of unsung heroes. And soon to be released #Rice&ShineShow with and an amazing group of women - @linhpod @jacquiashley1 and @jennifer.cao888. 02.01.2022 Please make a submission to stop any wastes incinerators from being built within close proximity to our Fairfield City Council Fairfield City Community. There are plans for two incinerators to be built in Eastern Creek. While it's not within our city, burning of wastes will release toxic fumes and potential health hazards.
