23.01.2022 I have been on Council for Eight years and Deputy Mayor for the last Four years and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge. Over my time on council I have been a strong advocate for minimal rate rises. We openly say we have ideas that we all feel strongly about but also have individual ideas too.... If re-elected I have been open and transparent about my intentions to nominate for the position of mayor. Beware of the dangers of another councillor who wishes to be Mayor that is not transparent open and accountable with their intentions. However they are happy to throw away funding for the bike path connection in Success Hill and promotes financially out of control green ideas that will cost the town over $200K each year with the change to the weed management policy. To ensure responsible management of your rates vote for a team that has responsible and affordable ideas, not irrational unaffordable populist pipe dreams. www.mikelewis.com.au

22.01.2022 It was a week ago, but I guess we are still allowed to talk about footy. First time at the new football stadium in Perth for the WAFL grand final. The stadium is impressive, the game wasn't.

22.01.2022 FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY FOR BASSENDEAN If Re-Elected you can count on me to ensure responsible rate rises and accountability in financial management for the Town of Bassendean. Councillors are accountable for our town’s finances and this is not as simple as just keeping residents rates low and affordable. It is also about managing costs to meet the needs of residents.... This means ensuring that operating expenses doesn’t surpass total revenues and maintaining total net worth to shield against factors that may impact our finances in the future and pursuing policies that offer a reasonable amount of predictability about the level and stability of which council rates should be set for the future. It is about the reasonable management of the public’s purse to sustainably service your needs well into the future. VOTE Mike Lewis. www.mikelewis.com.au

16.01.2022 Hi All, Here are the final results declared by the Returning Officer at the close of the count. In the end, there were 12 candidates in total, making it Bassendean’s most contested local election. Firstly, I want to congratulate the four successful candidates. I hope that they will serve the needs of the Town’s ratepayers well for the next 4 years.... I would like to give my commiserations to my fellow unsuccessful candidates, Jessica STRAUSS, and Craig LUCANUS. They put in an incredible effort and showed they care and value the community we call home. In particular, I want to acknowledge Gerry Pule who has served Bassendean for 10 years as Councillor and now concludes his term. Thank you also to the Town’s CEO and staff, who have worked hard with me over the last 8 years to ensure that the council's vision for our town has come to fruition. Thank you to all of you amazing people who voted for me and gave incredible support through mailbox deliveries, word of mouth, support, and encouragement. I couldn't have done it without you. It's been a great learning curve and a character building exercise. Hopefully, I am wiser, stronger and better for it. 15.01.2022 I had the great enjoyment of listening to a lecture with Professor Brian Cox. And as Brian would say, "Planet Earth is the easiest place in the universe to study, because we live on it, but it is also confusingly complicated. For one thing, it's the only planet we know of that supports life."

14.01.2022 From Michelle, Kaleb and myself, wishing you a Great, Prosperous, Blissful, Healthy, Bright, Delightful, Energetic and Extremely Happy, HAPPY NEW YEAR in 2019.

08.01.2022 As your Deputy Mayor, I am writing an open letter to the good residents of The Town of Bassendean. I have been on council for the last eight years and I’m the only candidate with any experience on council in this election. It has come to my attention that there is a very serious concern about a group of people that are trying to pervade and influence the ratepayers of our Town. This group of people, by no means a majority, are trying to invade our Council and put either Renee... McLennan or Jai Wilson into the position of Mayor. By social engineering and indoctrination they are putting our Town in a position, if allowed, of no return. Some of the concerns I have with them being mayor is their philosophical belief that override the good governance of our Town. An example of this is the change in the Weed Management Policy lead by Renee McLennan and supported by Team Wilson that will cost you an additional $900K over the next five years and their intention to change the Waste Management Agreement could cost you a minimum of $250K additionally each year. Combining that with the increase to the Weed Management over a five year period this will be an additional cost/loss to the Town of 2.15 MILLION DOLLARS. This is but two of many financially destructive ideas this group is trying to force on you. As electors of The Town of Bassendean we have one day left to stop this destructive force from destroying our good town. You only have today left till 6.00pm to stop a tragedy happening in our Town of Bassendean. If you haven’t already voted, please return your ballot paper to 35 Old Perth Road in Bassendean. If you value our Town, I implore you to Vote for: Mike Lewis Jessica Strauss & Craig Lucanus www.mikelewis.com.au

08.01.2022 Do you remember when things used to get done in Bassendean?

03.01.2022 A belated Happy New Year, from Mike & Michelle.

01.01.2022 KNOW WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR In the interest of transparency I wish to share this article from the West Australian newspaper with you. https://thewest.com.au//opinion-party-politics-dogs-perths ... Interestingly it highlights the common problem for residents in voting for the right people to hold office in council. How is the general public to know whether a candidate holds their interest at heart or a major party’s. For instance, in Bassendean our team is the only team to make our affiliations public. We do not hold membership with any party. However, all four of us have sort to form a ticket together because we share common values and an alternative view to the current and potential future faction on council. With four positions vacant on council there is a very real risk that the representation of the views of the majority of residents could be lost in favour of minority groups who hold the interests of major parties. Do not be blindsided by some candidates who are either employed or strongly tied to major political parties. If the same party represents your views at two levels of Government often not much is achieved. Hence that is why Bassendean in the last five elections has received nothing in funding. Do not be blindsided by the motivations of current councillors in doing back door deals with candidates (affiliated with major parties) and at the cost of trading away democracy on council for short-term gain in power and title. www.mikelewis.com.au
