15.01.2022 Hi! I am writing a story for a local paper on the latest development and the need for a school in Murrumbateman. I am keen to speak to parents who would like to share their experiences. You can DM and get in touch. Thanks

09.01.2022 Despite wind and rain, the sun was certainly rising in Murrumbateman, New South Wales this morning at Four Winds Vineyard as we welcomed James Tobin and the Sun...rise weather team to the Yass Valley. We would have loved to have been able to invite the community along to join in the fun, however with COVID restrictions in place, this was not possible, keeping the community safe during this time was our priority. A BIG thank you to Four Winds Vineyard, Children, Parents, and Teachers Yass Public School P&C Association and our own Councillor Mike Reid - Yass Valley for showcasing a glimpse of our wonderful region to the rest of NSW and a national audience. #YassValley #BestoftheCBRRegion #CBRTablelands #StaySafe #YassWeAreOpen #WeAreWaitingForYou #ShopLocal #LoveNSW #sunrise

08.01.2022 Lest we forget! (Social distancing was kept at all times!). Thanks to Yass Valley Council and the Lions Club for their wreaths

07.01.2022 Hi everyone, here's the link to the new Murrumbateman School survey and information (survey open until 25/11/20). The current design on Fairley St is a concept... design to present to the community, so please fill in the survey to get our voices heard in the design process for our children. (The 'Library' tab has a link to an image of the design.) A lot of the concerns with the small size, location and closeness to the highway have been shared with the planning group and they will be working with Council for solutions moving forward. The playground hasn't been designed yet, so there will be playground equipment. If you have more to ask or say, you can book in for a 20 minute session at the Information Hub or email - [email protected] Please share with Murrumbateman families who aren't on Facebook :)

05.01.2022 Latest Mayoral minute from the Mayor.

04.01.2022 Council needs to hear from Yass Valley’s young people! Yass Valley Council is preparing an application for NSW Government’s Youth Opportunities funds to employ a Youth Development Officer to help develop strategies to build a community of safe, healthy and connected young people. The NSW Government’s Youth Opportunities Program provides grants of up to $50,000 for youth-led and youth-driven community projects that have a positive youth development focus. If the application is... successful, the Youth Development Officer will work on a number of local initiatives which address development needs and challenges being experienced by young people aged between 12 and 25 years. The first step in developing the application involves conducting an online survey of young people in Yass Valley, asking direct questions about their needs and wants. Council wants to involve young people at every stage from identifying needs through to designing, delivering and evaluating activities and the Youth Development Officer role itself, said Council’s Community Planner, Helen Maskell-Knight. We want young members of the community to tell us what they want and need so this input can be reflected in the Youth Development Officer role from the outset. It is very important that the focus of the role be led by young people. The potential impact of the proposed Youth Development Officer role is wide-ranging and may be reflected in such areas as life skills and healthy behaviours, communication and teamwork, event planning and management and increased education participation. If you are a young person aged between 12 and 25 we urge you to complete this survey. It is an important step in developing Council’s proposal for a much-needed Youth Development Officer in the Yass Valley, said Ms Maskell-Knight. The survey can be accessed by following this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/yassvalleyyouthsurvey The survey closes on Sunday, 7 June 2020. See more

04.01.2022 Hi All, our Community Planning Officer would like as much involvement with the survey outlined below: Subject: Survey of Yass Valley young people In the context of developing the funding application to employ a Youth Development Officer, a survey has now opened on Council’s website to obtain the views of Yass Valley’s young people on the focus they would like the role to take.... There is a related media release on Council’s website and the link to the survey is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/yassvalleyyouthsurvey The survey closes on Sunday 7 June. Please encourage those you know between the ages of 12 and 25 to complete it. As many responses as possible are needed to achieve a result which can be relied on as an accurate indication of the views of Yass Valley’s young people. Best wishes Helen Helen Maskell-Knight | Community Planner
