Not quite the same as celebrating Ferragosto with 80,000 people on Great North Road, Five Dock. Looking forward to a huge Ferragosto celebration in Five Dock in 2021. 18.01.2022 A motion on reducing cigarette butt litter for consideration at our next council meeting. It’s estimated over a billion cigarette butts are littered in NSW every year. The NSW Government has recently completed a world first trial in reducing butt litter and is rolling out a new program and grants for councils to uptake in their fight against butt litter. The City of Canada Bay participated in this trial and has been undertaking a number of strategies and initiatives to reduce butt litter in our LGA. The new program being launched by the NSW Government provides the Canada Bay council an opportunity to review the effectiveness of its strategies in reducing butt litter and identify what else we can be doing. @cleanupaustralia #canadabay

This week I received a wonderful heartfelt Christmas card reminding me that even before Covid and also after Covid people have and will continue to be confronted with significant life challenges that somehow they continue to overcome through strength and resilience, love and support. It’s an inspiration, a strength we can draw on to make 2021 an amazing year. Merry Christmas.
