24.01.2022 Council Removers Australian Flag I along with many local ratepayers are appalled that Northern Beaches Council has removed a painted tribute of the Australian flag from a road in Freshwater. A local resident painted the flag using his own money and time after being inspired by the community spirit on Anzac Day with hopes it would cheer up the community amid job loses and struggles during COVID-19. ... Meanwhile at tonights Council meeting Mayor Regan and his political party along with Greens Councillor Warren and Deputy Mayor Bingham voted to spend over $100,000 of ratepayers money on a monument for COVID. Be assured that in the coming weeks I will be doing everything I can to allow the Freshwater community to repaint the flag back on the road. Feel free to share this information. Any support appreciated. Below is a photo of the flag in question and a photo of the road after it was removed.

20.01.2022 Plenty of room on the Manly Ferry last week. Recent figures released show that in April there were 24,000 trips on the ferry as compared to nearly 400,000 for the same period last year. These are disturbing figures for the local Manly economy. Thankfully things are now starting to get back to normal. However it will be a slow process. The community has certainly played it’s part in fighting COVID-19.

14.01.2022 The offending driver was allegedly on drugs when he was pulled over by Police before they were hit by a semitrailer in last evenings horror crash in Melbourne which took the life of those four frontline heroic officers. For as long as there is breath in me I will continue my campaign against the increasing scourge of drugs in our community. When we come out of the COVID-19 crisis we should adopt the same tactics in dealing with the increasing horrors of drugs in our community. Not suggesting we use exactly the same approach however the campaign should be almost as full on. I have been calling for this to happen for some time now. Some say we have have lost the war on drugs I say no war has been fought.

05.01.2022 OPEN LETTER TO NORTHERN BEACHES MPs SEEKING SUPPORT TO STOP OUTRAGEOUS COUNCIL RATE RISE DURING THESE COVID-19 TIMES. As you are aware Mayor Regan and a majority of councillors are supporting yet another rate rise for long suffering Northern Beaches ratepayers. This rate rise is contained in the council budget documents which are soon to go out for public comment. This rate rise totally contradicts what every other level of government is doing in response to the COVID...-19 crisis. One of the main arguments being put forward by the councillors who are pushing this 2.6 % rate rise is that ratepayers on the Northern Beaches are used to absorbing these increases and they will not complain or even notice. These councillors seem to be unaware of the hardship being caused by COVID-19. Another argument being put forward is that people with multiple properties can pay more. Are these councillors not aware that many landlords have been hit hard by tenants not being able to pay rent? Are they also not aware of the fact that there has been a significant reduction in rents across the board? Tomorrow night an urgent and extraordinary council meeting has been called so that councillors can further debate the budget document. The Mayor has been forced to take this action due to a rescission motion on the budget being lodged by Councillors Amon, De Luca and myself. Given the involvement and outstanding response by both the Federal and State Government to the COVID-19 crisis the issues mentioned above clearly have Federal and State implications. Accordingly I ask for your public support for those Councillors opposing this Northern Beaches Council rate rise. We need your help. As you are aware, the Mayor has substantial council resources at his disposal. This rate rise is a heartless and lazy response to the council COVID-19 budget crisis and it must be stopped. There are other options which I and other like minded councillors will vigorously pursue. 03.01.2022 At last nights Northern Beaches Council meeting Mayor Regan together with his political party and the Greens voted through the outrageous rate rise which is included in the budget papers. The budget will soon go out for community consultation . Keep an eye on Councils website if you want to have your say. You will have one month to make your comment.
