14.01.2022 BRISBANE LOCKDOWN Please see the attached statement jointly issued by the Islamic Council of Queensland, Council of Imams Queensland and the Islamic Medical Association of Queensland - IMAQ. Friday prayers are still being held at many mosques. This is allowed as it is before the lockdown begins. However, we strongly advise anyone attending Friday prayers to wear masks and practice social distancing. The very young and the elderly should consider staying home.

07.01.2022 A while back we interviewed Sabah, an asylum seeker who is in community detention. Her husband Saif is kept seperately at an Immigration detention centre. They have a 3 year son named Saami who was born in offshore detention and is currently with his mom. Saami has been identified with development delay possibly due to all the trauma he has experienced since birth, he requires Speech and Occupational Therapy. Some of their close friends at Let Them Hug Film had setup a campaign to fund his therapy sessions. A big shout out to our community champions Muslim Charitable Foundation for stepping forward and offering to fund both the speech and occupational therapy that Saami requires. It was an emotional moment for the family and everyone involved.
