The flag is loc...ated across from the canteen and near the locker bay for all students to appreciate. Corey presented the idea to Student Leadership and executive staff and it was warmly welcomed. A big thankyou to Ms Parkhouse, Student Leadership and Ms Walters for their support. See more

22.01.2022 In celebration of Wear it Purple Day week we will be sharing thoughts, comments and art from some of our amazing LGBTIQA+ young people, community members as wel...l as some of our Uniting staff. We used this years theme "we are the change" as a base to inspire a variety of responses. Allison (they/them) from LINE Wangaratta and GV Pride sent us this gorgeous snap of their family and response below. Q. How do LGBTQIA+ young people inspire me? A. "I’m constantly impressed with the resilience, strength and courage of LGBTQIA+ young people. They inspire me to be a better LGBTQIA+ advocate, a stronger queer person, and remind me of the importance of visibility and representation. Especially as a queer parent in regional Victoria." . . . . . #inspired #family #sheppwearsitpurple #sheppurpleton #pride #inclusion #wipday #wearitpurple #proud #wearrthechange #smile

18.01.2022 This Friday, 28 August is Wear it Purple Day, when you are encouraged to wear purple to celebrate and support LGBTIQ young people. We invited Sally Conning, ack...nowledged LGBTIQ Elder and president of SCIN- South Coast Inclusion Network to tell us about the significance of Wear it Purple Day: Hi my name is Sally and I’ve been invited to say a few words about that special Friday. Yep, the last Friday of August - Wear it Purple Day. When I was a kid all those years ago we had nothing and no recognition in any form. With Wear It Purple we have come so far but still need to go further. The young LGBTIQ people of today are growing up in a more accepting environment. The day is all about celebrating and supporting LGBTIQ young people, and challenging societal attitudes to help shape a better world for us all. Check out wearitpurple.org or scin.org.au for more information and resources to help you Wear it Purple this Friday.

17.01.2022 Two of three primary conversations I look forward to having an opportunity to lead post election, should I be fortunate enough to be offered a second term. Acce...ss to information, access to move around the municipality and the region, and access to equality should not be a hard conversation in this day and age. Increasing the ability for groups to be heard, to be seen and to feel positive about the future is a conversation that can be done in productive way. I’m lucky to have a terrific support network, including a giant fiancé for access to the top shelves, and locally we’re lucky to have access to groups like LINE Wangaratta for information

13.01.2022 This is it! The last book in our book club! Thank you to those that have read along! Heat and Light... Ellen van Neerven (wlw relationship) In this award-winning work of fiction, Ellen van Neerven takes her readers on a journey that is mythical, mystical and still achingly real. Over three parts, she takes traditional storytelling and gives it a unique, contemporary twist. In ‘Heat’, we meet several generations of the Kresinger family and the legacy left by the mysterious Pearl. In ‘Water’, a futuristic world is imagined and the fate of a people threatened. In ‘Light’, familial ties are challenged and characters are caught between a desire for freedom and a sense of belonging. Trigger Warnings: Sexual assault. Racism.
