04.01.2022 Here are some of the wonderful costumes that the children have come dressed in for our Halloween Dress up week.

02.01.2022 During Science Week the children at Country Kids ELC had the opportunity to engage in a variety of STEM based activities. The Toddler and Nursery children explored colour through an experiment with coloured water and white flowers. They were able to observe the changes in the white flowers as it absorbed the coloured water slowly changing the white to either, red, blue, green, yellow and purple. They were able to engage in an experiment to see if an item would sink or float.... Educator Brooke asked the children if the item would sink or float before placing them into the water. Some of the children were able to hypotheses what would happen it each item before it was placed into the water. Educators also facilitated a rainbow skittle experiment in which they poured warm water over skittles arranged around the outer edge of the plate. The children looked on in wonder and fascination as the colours appeared from the skittles to create a colourful pattern. The children also explored a variety of sensory activities throughout the week. They were given the opportunity to mould and manipulate playdough with their hands and an assortment of tools. Educators also set out some sensory bags for the children to investigate. Many of the children pushed or poked the liquid inside the bags, observing what was happening when the water and oil moved and mixed together. There are many benefits that the children gained from experiencing and exploring the world of science. Children learn to ask questions, they work together with peers and educators. They start to develop skills to solve problems, take risks, think creatively and explore and discover new ideas. Children begin to test solutions to problems and explore different ways in which they can solve them. At Country Kids ELC we love to explore science because there is so much to learn and it is lots of fun.
