This combination was played with for such an extended period of time . reasons sensory play is beneficial for children include: It helps to build nerve connections in the brain. 23.01.2022 we have been exploring the science behind inclines planes ( ramps) we had a lot of fun investigating and observing how different items rolled or slid down our ramp .

22.01.2022 Today we used play to strengthen our fine motor skills by rescuing our tangled marine life . It was such a simple invitation that provided a lot of interest and active participation.

21.01.2022 Here at country kids we are always exploring different sensory play resources, this week we are playing with slime . This slime has been made with psyllium husk so it’s minus all the toxic ingredients found in most slime . Not only is it a great calming substance but was an activity that became very vocabulary rich with the children all hearing and learning new descriptive words.

20.01.2022 Learning the lines and curves of letters is just as noteworthy as writing the letters themselves . So this week we used chalk on the front deck to practice .

17.01.2022 We were very lucky to have 2 scaly visitors bluey and stripey today . The children have been so excited about this pending visit that they have been collecting snail treat both from home and here at daycare to feed them . Thankyou so much Sandy for providing this wonderful experience.

17.01.2022 This fine motor activity has been loved by all the children at country kids this week it has entertained and kept them focused for an extended time . Little did they know that they were developing and strengthening their fine motor manipulation skills and hand eye coordination skills which they will really need when they begin to write later in life . To them it was just play and was a lot of fun xx

17.01.2022 We love the creative arts here at country kids especially when it involves mess and using things that weren’t made for painting . Not only was using fly swatters fun it created opportunities for us to strengthen our hand-eye coordination, balance skills and gross motor muscles and also produced some beautiful prints .

14.01.2022 This year from the 19th to the 25th of October . Here at Country kids we participated in the Aussie bird count , which required us to count and identify the birds in our environment of a 20 minute period each day. This is the 4th year we have participated and noticed a decline in small finches and honeyeaters . So we have created a bird friendly native garden which we will build upon over the next 12 months to hopefully attract more birds into our environment .

10.01.2022 Absolutely love our new sign can not thank Sign Style - Hunter Valley enough . I had never had a sign made before so I was very unsure what I wanted but the team were absolutely amazing to work with and have created a sign well above my expectations .

10.01.2022 Yesterday we received a delivery from ikea . Mr M looked at the box looked at the contents and said Leesa when are you going to take all the things out of the box? Because that box would make the perfect boat . So the afternoon was spent fishing and sailing the high seas.

09.01.2022 And our Christmas celebrations have begun . I still can’t believe it is December

08.01.2022 It was such a nice day out in the sun today so we decided to take our musical instrument box out onto the front deck , where we experimented with different ways to use the instruments to create noise . We also watched a orchestra on YouTube which allowed the children to see a large variety of instruments .

06.01.2022 We have been loving our wooden scales we purchased from Educating Kids recently . We have been using our cognitive skills to make predictions and then used the scales to test our theories , in most cases our predictions were correct which also built our confidence in early maths skills .

02.01.2022 Once again our silkworms have been a very exciting experience at daycare . We have now watched our very hungry silkworms complete every stage of their lifecycle. We loved feeding them fresh mulberry leaves everyday , we were shocked how quickly they ate through them but loved watching them munch away .We loved watching them grow from tiny caterpillars to large fat caterpillars just like our favourite book the very hungry caterpillar .We were very lucky to watch one silkworm busily spin it’s cocoon . We then patiently waited for our moths to emerge ( a very long 2 weeks ) and today we are watching one of our little moths lay her eggs so the lifecycle process can start all over again . It has been an amazing experience for my little nature lovers .
